WHO: Rainhopper / Toast Rabbit

WHERE: Rainhopper OR at Toastrabbit

WHAT: Not willing to pay comission price he owe me.

WHEN: Ordered at 2009 July 25. - Picture received at approximately 2010 August. Payment haven't arrived ever since from him.

There were a comissioner, called Rainhopper, also known as Toastrabbit in his actual name. He once comissioned me for a highly detailed artwork which would cost him 60 Euro, which is approximately equal to 80 USD. We discussed every single detail together to its finest. The communications are held upon Furaffinity's notes and GMail's e-mailing systems sometimes when we had doubts about things. Times have passed, and I have to admit I've got some complications with school and whatnot during the time and it kept for about almost a year which I felt myself ashamed, but once I've got some free time to finish what I was about to tell to be finished, I finally did what I promised and sent the original high resolution picture to him via e-mail in hope to get paid but only a somewhat short but still a modest thank you e-mail has been received and nothing more.

The picture I did with such effort can be found here now here (since either him or the mods have removed it - EDIT: 2011.dec.04.) Though the description says that Jako did it, it was my former account and as the account journal says I moved to the newest location, just in case if someone is in doubt if it's about me or an other person, I just told it right here.
However I uploaded it to my Furaffinity gallery, I've entitled it with a NOT PAID tag right infront of the title, to keep it in mind both for him and for artists if he's about to spot you as an other victim of theft.

I have been waiting for months then I was out of patience, thus I asked him what's going on with the money? He said he is having complications with paypal nevertheless he's broke and 2 the rantgryphon holds him, which I accepted as "oh well, shit happens, let's just wait some more then..." I was hoping he was about to get that arranged ,but yet another several of those months have passed (almost A YEAR) and still nothing. Then I've asked him the same, but in a bit impatient motivationful voice via e-mail, and he replied the same. THIS is going on for ONE and a HALF YEAR by now, and I'm seriously out of patience, not to mention he dare to attend at MidFur as a Guest of Honor. How can people sleep at night like these?

Till he don't pay me off, this thread will remain for letting you know who is about to comission you, and if I were you: DON'T ACCEPT ANY FURTHER COMISSIONS FROM HIM(Toastrabbit, Rainhopper) as long as I'm unpaid.

Hereby I'm going to link evidences with commentary. The screenshot cuts have datestamps to proove my complainment.

A whole copy of what he sent me in notes by promising this and that right after arranging the details which looked nice and fair so far.

Evidence01 supplemental
Not so relevant, but the e-mail where I've sent the sketch for further detail arrangement to check if everything is alright with it. Normally I keep doing things this checking way, to avoid complications in details, wether my customers like the way it looks or not.

Months have passed and still nothing...

Right after I uploaded the picture, all he did is just a thank you, not even mentioning he' still willing to pay me or something which OUGHT to be happen after this long delay if I were him.

What? He can even AFFORD to make it to MidFur from the United States?... Okay, where is my diamond shotgun?

Perhaps this is another excuse not paying me out...

Some of your screencaps have been resized and are too small to read. Could you fix them? http://imageshack.us/ is a good, free place to host them that you can set to not resize.

For future reference, many artists take payment up front, or at least partial payment. Also, next time do not send the commissioner the high quality image until AFTER they pay. Send them a watermarked, low resolution one before they pay. Now that you've given him the product, he is less likely to pay now.

You can send a Trouble Ticket on FurAffinity saying he posted that art without permission, since he has not paid for it yet. The admins can then remove the art. It doesn't get you your money, but at least he can't show it on his page.

fyi, the post will remain regardless because deleting posts is against the rules here. however, if he pays you the mods will mark it with a resolved tag.

That artwork is stunning and so worth $80. I'm afraid folks around here don't offer much sympathy with the 'pay after' technique as I've run into myself, but you are completely justified in your annoyance.

I really hope he climbs out of his hole and pays you. I have to agree with what was said above; get his copy taken down. Fingers crossed that will wake him up.

I'd say the artwork is worth more than $80; It's absolutely gorgeous and well done. The detail is superb! If I paid $80 and received that, I'd have definitely sent at least another $20 for tip.

Wait. He's coming to MiDFur? Please tell me he has obvious badges so I don't deal with him in the dealers den! ;_; *writes down name/s*

So sorry this has happened, you might not get your money by the looks of things :/

Looks like his FA hasn't had any activity since August when he last faved something. I'd consider contacting him on Twitter as he seems quite active there. He's also the boyfriend of a fairly public figure in the fandom so maybe you can send an e-mail to 2 or something.

I'll second trying to contact him on Twitter before reporting the pic to FA. If he's not active there anymore, having the pic pulled first might not get his attention, which in turn won't get get you what you're owed.

He's active on Twitter.

*sighs* Let me text him/2 and see if we can't get this mess resolved.

I see Vikavek also still owes you money, and for some really nice art too.
Please, PLEASE take money up front, all of it if necessary.

Noted. I'm sorry that happened to you, and with a so-called 'higher profile' client. It's such an insult for him to post the image and then ignore you.

Hmm, the submission in their gallery is conspicuously missing now. Removed by an FA mod, or Toast, I wonder o.o

Ouch... I'm a long-time fan of 2 Sense, and I've met Toast and 2 at Anthrocon a few times. This is rather saddening. :(

Toast - if you read this, if you're still having issues with Paypal and they are preventing you from making your payment, there's always the option of mailing an International Postal Money Order. (If the artist is willing to accept this form of payment, of course.) Go to the local post office, ask for an international postal money order to (artist's country of origin) for 60 Euro. They'll ring you up for the equivalent of 60 Euro at the counter, you step aside and fill out the details, fill out an envelope with shipping & return details, pay for postage, and it's on its way!

Make sure you keep the IPMO's payment stub, which has a serial # that you and the recipient can use as a limited form of proof of IPMO purchase. Plus, I believe you can call a USPS telephone number and provide that stub # to check to see if the money order's been cashed -- I've never done this myself, though. The only company I've ever dealt with in this way (a Japanese import/export shop) has always been very honest with me.

Hope this helps, and whatever the problem ultimately is, I hope it gets resolved!

Not wanting the picture or not, you finished the work and thus he still has to pay you for it. Even if he had said he didn't want it halfway through, he still owes you the time you worked on the piece.

While I do agree it wasn't good on your part to keep them in the dark, it doesn't excuse the excuses and the general tone he has kept with you. Not to mention he had a YEAR to pay you for the work which you gave him after a year of work.
