The butt/thigh and back have some areas of very close overlap, and even the inner thigh is in the same area, and this is done with one of the first photos I found in a similar position and where I couldn't just scale in real time with photoshop.
That being said, you're entitled to your opinion, but I do want to give some context. I was able to do something similar with a completely unrelated photo, the hips and chest are the easiest parts to draw, and the easiest parts to line up in a trace. I would not be surprised at all if the artist was referencing other people's art and seeing how they handled poses, but that's not the same as tracing.
