Wow - I always thought the 'Donate' button was just a 'Buy now' butto that allowed the user could choose a price.

I guess any non-non-profit would be better to just set up donations as 'Buy Now' buttons at a few different rates for anything collecting ongoing donations (I've noticed a lot of blogs have a 'Buy me a coffee/beer' button that's basically just a $5-$10 set donation) and Kickstarter or http://www.microgiving.com/ for things that have a specific goal amount.
