Advice: Charge-backs
Edit 4/8/13: Unfortunately, it seems I lost the settlement, and $15 was taken out of my account on the 6th of April. Annoying, but what can you do. I will simply take this as a learning experience and not to do business with Chapu ever again. I suggest you all do the same, for he might file charge backs against you too, like he has to me and other artists.
Edit: I have called Paypal and discussed with them my situation. Like requested I sent them all of the evidence I have. They apologized and said they will try and fix this. Now I just have to wait and see what happens. I will gladly let everyone know the end results once this is all done with.
Okay, so apparently a client of mine just issued a charge-back. Now, this is the thing; the work has already been done and sent to them, they even posted it in their gallery. Said payment was sent on December 13, 2012. Commission was completed on December 20, 2012.
How do I go about fixing this? I feel if I discussed my case with Paypal, they would automatically take the client's side because I don't have any evidence to use. I honestly don't think I can just say, "Hello. [name of client] had paid me to do an art piece for them. They sent me the money and the work was completed in a timely fashion, and they were pleased with what I have given them." and they'd automatically take my side, so I don't know what to do.
And the thing is, this person apparently has been issuing charge-backs to all of the artists they've ever commissioned. However, at the time I did this commission, I was not aware of this. So what do I do?

I've never had to deal with this thankfully, and I'm sorry that this is happening to you! I wish I could be of more help!
In any case I'd really like to see a beware of this person posted because wow, do not want to deal with them.

The best thing to do is to get on the phone to PP asap and explain what you just told us. That you were commissioned for a piece of artwork which has been completed, the customer received it and even posted it in their own gallery and you're not the only person they've done this to. Ask them what evidence they require.
Oh and screencap everything, obviously. The commission agreement and the client's upload of the image.

however, if you put the shipping tracking info into paypal then they should take your side regardless, as you have proof the item was mailed and received.
if the piece ISN'T on FA, or business was conducted through email, you can always take screenshots of proof of work being done/conversations with your client/especially the client's approval and send those screenshots to paypal when stating your case.

Also, please PLEASE make a beware on this person! I (as well as other artists) don't want to come across whoever this is ):

If its a clean art piece, go ahead and call them and explain the situation. Better to attempt to take action than sit on the sidelines wondering,"Maybe....maybe...."

In the future I recommend to do invoices through Paypal, they are easy and free. Then you have proof the client agreed to the artwork if they try a charge back :).

Make sure you get as much evidence as you can. What did they pay for? If they paid for goods, it might make it harder but it doesn't hurt to try. If they paid for services, then you have a much better chance. Screenshot the stuff in their gallery to prove they are using it.
Be polite. I've found Paypal would rather work more with polite clients. (Which is why my husband doesn't handle CS calls.)

They don't take kindly to people who get works, items, ect or agree to tos then put another persons paypal at risk. This is what I've learned from similar experience.
But do this immediately the faster you do it the more serious they take you. Definitely don't let it sit. Phoning a paypal representative is highly recommended.
EDIT: also be calm and polite as possible.I know situations like this can be stressful but a Representative at paypal would rather deal with a calm client/pp user than anything else.

Who was it so I can make sure they've been put on my block list? I don't want to deal with charge-backers

Also a note to the AB Mods I will love to see a Chargeback tag added to such beware posts so we can filter out those scammer commisioners and questions about Chargebacks so I or another artist know what to do in this situation or know which commissioners have been known to scam Artists with Chargebacks. Any 2nds for this motion will be nice to add Chargeback tags to such AB posts.

Advice posts on chargebacks can be found under the paypal tag and we don't feel that it's necessary to segregate posts on customers who do this from other beware posts.
