Beware: annilius/annily/yannlian

WHO:
annilius/annily/yannlian

Edit 1: As of August 2, 2013, this artist has deactivated her deviantArt account and her tumblr page.

WHERE: Fur Affinity (links above)

WHAT: An animated icon

WHEN: Purchased March 23, 2013 - still waiting today, July 30th, 2013 with no updates.
http://i.imgur.com/uOdHzeR.png - Proof - Confirmed Payment e-mail from PayPal. (Artist's and my real name were used so I blocked them here)

PROOF: (Please Note: I am xkid0)
http://i.imgur.com/Tf3kQbt.png - I make my payment and she confirms to have received
http://i.imgur.com/BSGzgPK.png - 3 months later, I ask for an update after there have been no commission uploads and no note/journal to her commissioners
http://i.imgur.com/Rc0GlDG.png - Wondering if she's somehow more active on her deviantArt account, I visit her there, only to find she's responding to a commission inquiry. The hidden comment was made the same date, only she hid it a few days later
http://i.imgur.com/FT6jUce.png - I send a note to the commenter whose comment was hidden, asking if they've been waiting for a long time and if they've had trouble getting in contact with her just for confirmation. They agree
http://i.imgur.com/Kn9TsPD.png - They send no updates/shouts/notes to waiting customers but continue replying (very quickly) to inquiries and accepting more commissions on top of their current work load.
http://i.imgur.com/PptA1o6.png - At the suggestion of another user, I send them a note. It has gone unread and unreplied (note Outgoing box)
http://i.imgur.com/X8gXuTi.png & http://i.imgur.com/9Yfryzh.png - Two other users have been previously asking for updates on their commissions, having their comments/shouts removed by annilius a day or two later.
http://i.imgur.com/1TTigQM.png - I send one of them a note, asking how long they've been waiting and they tell me they've only been given excuses in return

EXPLAIN: I'd seen the work this person did for others and everyone seemed pleased. Everything seemed fine at first - I expected a bit of a wait but I did not expect to be ignored after three/four months while she continues taking on new commissions. Normally I am very patient and I can wait over a year for an art pieceas long as an artist updates frequently and lets me know what's going on in their life or if my commission will be delayed. I do not ever believe that I should have to harass and pester an artist in order to receive what I have paid for - I am trusting them as someone who made a business transaction to responsibly get the work done or let me know what's going on in a professional manner. I asked other users only because I want to be 100% sure that it's not just 'me' feeling paranoid that I'm not getting any thing from the artist or being ignored. Annilius has been ignoring/hiding comments calling her out on her sudden lack of work ethic but without hesitation, accepting new commissions.

I do not like bullying or anti-artist posts of any kind but this is so that others don't send their money off and receive nothing in return. I will gladly edit this post if the artist starts producing results but until then, I hope that this will serve its purpose in helping others decide if they want to take a gamble.

I am warning all potential commissioners to not send your money to this artist any longer unless your idea of a good business transaction is being ignored months later after simply asking for an update.

this is really disappointing :(

I've been meaning to commission her for some art (or an animated icon). It's a shame another one of those artists with such beautiful art turn out to be a scammer

I came here to say just this. She was on my list of people I wanted to commission eventually. :(

I had a bit of problems with her as well. Asked how my icons were, and then received a very rushed-looking product. She sent me new, better looking ones a few days later (on her own discretion). However, I waited months more for one last icon that was suppose to be a gift for a friend's birthday, but she didn't seem like she'd ever get around to it. She refunded me without any fuss, luckily.

I'm so disappointed... she owes me some work since december 2012. it pains me that she has taken this route... I hope she will come back soon and set things straight. :/

I ALMOST posted a beware about her myself just recently.

Mine was also for an animated icon, I paid her right away. Many months later I asked for an update and my note was read/opened immediately but never replied to. Another month later I tried noting her again, and the same thing... it was opened and never replied to. A couple notes later I was finally fed up and feeling discouraged so I flat out asked for a cancellation and refund to be given by the end of the week.

Once I mentioned a refund, suddenly just before the end of that week deadline, I get a response. She sends me the full finished icon and claims that it was done a month ago and she must have "forgotten" to send it to me. She did offer me a refund regardless if I was still dissatisfied, but I chose not to take it since she did the work (though I did find it convenient the work shows up days after I ask for a refund...).
Bottom line for me: I did get the work after a frustrating wait and silence to my inquiries. But I will not commission again because of the lack in customer service.

I didn't take the refund since she had presented me with the finished icon last minute (along with saying she'd forgotten it and making excuses). Honestly at that point I would have preferred the refund, but I'd feel bad asking for both since she'd eventually done the work.

She just needs to learn to reply to her clients' notes. She's obviously online a lot taking new commissions and opening the notes, and ignoring everyone is incredibly shady and unprofessional. It's going to get her in a lot of trouble that could easily be avoided with some simple communication and responsibility.

Oh this is so disappointing. I've been watching her for a long time because I love her artwork :(

It appears someone inquired about a new commission on June 30th, and she responded July 1st about it. This was in her deviantART comments section.

Really appears like she's ignoring current customers, and taking on more work than she can handle.

Ahh. I couldn't get any of the screenshots to open on my computer, so I wasn't sure if that one had been noticed.

Annily owes me a commission, too. Mine is from around 3 months ago.

Sigh

I'm owed approximately $80 in art from this artist, but she essentially cut all contact from me earlier this year, about when she was admitted into university. I gave up, the commissions were private anyway and I can't really be bothered chasing up on it.

[identity profile] hrafnsauga.livejournal.com 2013-08-02 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
well, I sent her a note today (about 4 hours ago) and about an hour ago she responded... with my finished commissions! they were just simple sketches, but still... :) I hope she comes through for the rest of you!

She's closing down her deviantart/tumblr/etc.

[identity profile] starofhope.livejournal.com 2013-08-02 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And still no response to my notes, still no refund. I'm one of the people screenshotted up in the first post. I am living paycheck to paycheck. My financial situation turned horrible after I paid for the commission. I have hospital bills and every other thing to deal with. All I'm asking, BEGGING for is for her to either keep me updated on what I spent, or get my money back. I hired her because my friend strongly recommended her and every day I can only think about what, apparently, a bad decision that was for me all around.

[identity profile] teekchan.livejournal.com 2013-08-02 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
She has an Inkbunny account under the same name as her dA, I believe. I do know for a fact she has one though, as that is where I met her.

I've been owned a commission for a long time

It's been 8 months so far & i didn't receive any update, i payed about 75 for a connected animated icons & still no update so far, i don't mind waiting till the end of this year but then again if i don't receive anything i will ask for a refund of course, I'm tired from artists not keeping their customers updated every once in awhile :(

Looks like another sufferer of Cashoo Syndrome. Sorry this happened to you, Kirai.

Annilius posted a journal.

You should update you AB post, and check your FA if she hasn't given you your art yet.
Annilius has come back to FA and apologized. She is trying to redeem herself and is getting art out as fast as she can.

Update your Buyer beware please. :3
Thank you!!

PS: I deleted my previous comment because I have gotten one of the icons first day she made journal, and told her I can be pushed to the bottom of the queue for the second. I hope you get your art and can delete the Buyer beware so she can get her business back up and running.

Hi! We don't allow deletion of posts here, and that includes comments, so this is your warning to not delete comments. Thank you.

Wasn't aware, sorry about that!

I'll go ahead and mark this as resolved since you received what the artist owed you. But yes, the name tags on this post will stay on, so anyone looking up the artist can read and decide for themselves whether to work with them.
