Galagya - Update!

Just figured I'd make an update for this entry here.

Since that entry Galagya had refunded everyone for the premade wolf set as far as I know, well the deltas anyway, I don't know about those who paid cash, but as for all her other commissions and owed work, she's only completed one custom pose in one month. Granted it's not really my place to speak, but I figured it was worth mentioning. Considering she owes people poses as well as all those refs still.

On October 4th she posted a long comment "explaining" everything and what's been going on and how she hasn't been online a lot because of personal issues and that she's a perfectionist so that's why it takes her so long. http://i39.tinypic.com/jqrqr7.png

The most recent comment, or update, was on October 21st and was posted on her Poopies topic. Saying that she is diligently working on art right now and juggling her work around. http://i40.tinypic.com/24etjcw.png

Though I don't really know if this counts as another beware since she does say you can message her for updates/previews yet in a month's time only one small pose has been completed. I guess a month isn't really that long, but when you owe so many people shouldn't you possibly get your butt in gear and work a bit faster? Maybe it's just me I dunno.

Here's the pose if anyone is interested.

EDIT:
http://i42.tinypic.com/jadl4k.png

She "updated" again today saying she's still working on stuff at random. Though what I don't understand is if she's been working all this time how come there's nothing to show for it STILL?

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-09 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I wonder if she'd refund me the money for the poopies and the custom pose.
Either that or give into the fact I wasted around $30.
I just hope she gets them done.
I'm too uh.. shy I guess e-mailing her. Or I feel bad, I don't know.

[identity profile] eclairpuff.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing wrong with e-mailing an artist and asking for a refund. Especially if that artist has failed to deliver your art for a very long time. It's their responsibility to their customers to keep them updated, not to run away and hide.

Shoot her an e-mail and ask about your picture. No penalties for inquiring! You're worried and curious because of her sudden bad rep. If you get nothing in response, you have your answer on the course of action you should take.

[identity profile] pumpkin314.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The biggest problem with asking for a refund from Galagya is that she has said "I don't give refunds" in the past (actually this was shown in the previous beware made on her).
The only thing you can email her for are updates on the art she owes, and from my understanding you're lucky if she replies.

Obviously this isn't /every/ artist and only Gala; so one shouldn't be intimidated or afraid of emailing anyone else. Really one shouldn't be afraid of even emaing Gala, but given her track record with emails it seems it would be in vain.
I plan on emailing her myself tonight.

[identity profile] eclairpuff.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
D'oh, how crappy. If an artist says that they don't give refunds, I feel that's an immediate red flag.

[identity profile] pumpkin314.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I purchased that wolf-set pre-sale and my name still has not been added to the permissions nor have I been refunded.

I'll be emailing her later tonight, although I doubt it will do much good since I know people who have tried emailing her before and have gotten no response.

[identity profile] riskanja.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I have yet to receive a response to my emails.

She claims to be working on all this and still has little to show for it; she has asked myself and others to stop bumping her topic since she will 'get in touch' when they're done. She also opened for new commissions at the same time (and has yet to do any of those, either - almost thankfully).

Personally, I think she is waiting for all this to blow over and be forgotten.

[identity profile] cupycake-face.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
It will pretty much never blow over and be forgotten if she keeps this up. I'm sure eventually more people will just come forward and make more A_B posts after a long enough time. :/

[identity profile] pumpkin314.livejournal.com 2011-11-10 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately most of the WH community has no idea A_B exists, and they will just keep on commissioning her...I know I've made that mistake myself now (like 2 years ago she took too long finishing commissions and she was told to refund everyone, because she had "stolen" an admin's money I think, I was one of the people refunded and I guess I just was stupid enough to buy more shit from her :I ).

People honestly just need to keep bumping her topics and emailing her and letting her know that they have not forgotten that she owes them.

[identity profile] cupycake-face.livejournal.com 2011-11-10 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's a shame more people over there don't know about it. Though I'm sure if someone made a topic telling people about it they'd get in trouble for god knows what reason. I mean that's how things work over there, so it'd be something I'd expect.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-10 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Would posting over there about A_B even be allowed?
I remember some people threw a stink about 'protecting artists' privacy, even if they committed theft/ripped people off/etc.

I swear A_B WAS posted somewhere on WH.. because I think that's how I found this place.
I could be wrong, though.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-10 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Just sent her an e-mail. If she replies I will bump her topic with the reply.
Hey, I'm not just shamelessly bumping, right?

[identity profile] pumpkin314.livejournal.com 2011-11-10 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that there was a discussion about there being something similar to A_B on WH, like an artist rating system, but a lot of people disagreed with it because its like "not WH's business" to protect its buyers.
I'm sure if someone let people know about A_B over there the topic would be deleted and that user would be warned. Which is a shame, really, because this will keep happening more and more and no one will really know about an artist's past unless they feel like digging around through every post and topic. :\

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-10 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well shit. If I wasn't waiting for things from people on WH, I'd post it anyway.
I understand the whole 'protection' crap but come /on./
If someone does something like this, the public NEED to know :|

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/tearstained_/ 2011-11-10 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I just wanted to say that I did ask a WH forum administrator if posting about Artists_Beware would be alright. (I think this community is a great resource, not just for warning about sour transactions, but also for advice and lost contacts.) She said she thought it was a great idea and would bring it up with the rest of the adminstration team.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-11 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's all cross fingers and hope they will accept it!

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-11 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I just received an e-mail back from her.
She claims she is working diligently, but no one has asked her for a WIP, hence why she hasn't shown any work (I don't understand why she just doesn't post them in general, so that way EVERYONE knows she isn't lying). She also says she's working on some sets, one for a particular person (I won't say their name).
She doesn't have a lot of time on her laptop since she is busy IRL.

Basically sums up what I got from her e-mail :[.

[identity profile] cupycake-face.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I personally think if she's that busy irl she should just refund everyone so nothing like this comes up again, but what do I know. I got my refund for the premade set so I can't really complain.

[identity profile] cupycake-face.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oops that was suppose to be a reply to Terra.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-12 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
-Shrugs-
I wish. I don't really know. At this point I just want something to be done.
And it's cool. I come back to A_B every couple of hours or so, so if I see a new post/comment I check it.
But, I am glad you got your money back at least.

[identity profile] cupycake-face.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'd like to see something actually done for everyone she owes stuff too.

And my refund was deltas so that's probably the only reason why I got them back.

[identity profile] cupycake-face.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)

I'm not tired.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-15 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
When she replied, I asked her for a WIP of the poses/poopies, if just mine.
No response.
So either she's lying about having WIPs, or she lost internet. I don't know.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-19 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Posted from the forum:

"I was gonna post a few poses, like in bulk, within the next few days, but I cracked... just figured I should post poses as I finish them(although I REALLY like the idea of a bulk post...! -single tear-). This way you guys get your art faster, you know. Less awesomeness in each post by me, but lately I've been getting tons of messages and I remain busy with many different things. So yeah, posting as I finish things. Also, would it help if I posted the status of everyone's stuff? As in "sketched, scanned, colored"..."needs highlighting"..."50% done"...? And if you guys DO want these updates, which way should I do it? There's "blahblahblah IS done", "blahblahblah NEEDS TO BE done", or the percentage thing which is like a loading bar. I think this would work great if you guys agree. Especially because I'm getting messages faster than I can respond to, and lately there's been a couple more asking about status updates, which in turn makes me MORE busy lol! So yeah. >;] I think the status bar thing may really help with that. In the mean time, I will be responding to all messages as soon as I have time to sit down and get it all done!

Run on paragraph...? Anyway, look forward to more work posted from me this month, November!

PS: Fancy, I actually now work on a laptop I got more recent. I do know the ones you're talking about I think! But the only thing I can think to do is look through my older photobucket uploads. I'll let you know!
PSS: Thanks for the stalking, guys, lol."

Let's hope?
Also if I am not allowed to do this let me know.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-11-23 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently on her poopies topic, she made a partial refund (in deltas) to everyone, and still plans on drawing them.

[identity profile] terra stella (from livejournal.com) 2011-12-22 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I'm just going to give it up as a loss or something. She says she's so sick she can't type, but I don't know.
I'll e-mail her later and ask for a refund or something.

[identity profile] galagya.livejournal.com 2012-06-04 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, just figured I'd post to update this. It's long since been cleared up and everyone was refunded or given art. I think people just forgot to update this? I dunno, in any case, these people were apologized to and compensated for. so yep. :)

[identity profile] kerstin-orion.livejournal.com 2012-06-04 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
We'd be happy to mark it resolved if the you could perhaps point the OP over here to verify/update (assuming you have contact info, that is). :)

[identity profile] galagya.livejournal.com 2012-06-04 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately I honestly don't know who it is LOL... I may know them on another site under a different name but I have no way to contact them currently & again dunno who they are. I'm sorry! How should I go about this?

[identity profile] kerstin-orion.livejournal.com 2012-06-04 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in that case, hopefully the comment notifications will act as a reminder. Perhaps you could also reply to the others who commented in these posts claiming you owe them art , and see if they will verify they received their art or refunds.

[identity profile] wildwolfdragon.livejournal.com 2012-06-05 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I'm here on behalf of Gala, this issue has long been resolved and I don't know who the original poster was either, but the issue was with Serenity and I was staff on there during that time. I just wanted to say that it's all over with now, she's refunded or produced art for everyone that didn't get what they paid for from that art event, and from her workings on a different site, Wolfhome, I hear she's pumping out commissions left and right now, and handling business a lot better now than before. I hope this helps the situation. It seems the original poster is inactive on LiveJournal, or refuses to answer PM's so I thought I'd post here.

[identity profile] kerstin-orion.livejournal.com 2012-06-05 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's great of you to come in and vouch for Gala. Also nice to hear they are handling their business better.

Unfortunately, we still need proof that these commissions were done or refunded, or a message from the OP, in order to mark this post as resolved.

However, your comment here will be seen by others reading these posts later, and will hopefully be given due consideration by people wanting to know more about the situation.

[identity profile] galagya.livejournal.com 2012-06-06 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Aw thank youuu!! So yeah you were one of the people I owed before who either got a refund or a finished product, right? Reading this, you as an admin - I thought that'd help. But I need direct validation by others it seems(Kerstin's post, duhr). I really wish I knew who coobie was -- if you ever figure that out please let me know! & in the mean time, if you ever have free time(since you go on Chatlands sites as well, which is where all this is from), asking around for people who can provide proof would be -amazing-!! I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to post here. That was so sweet of you. :) I know that not only were you one of the people upset with me over this(sorry again for all that... it was my fault and I know I shouldn't have gotten so far behind, RL shit or not), but also that the whole thing is really old and I don't mean to be a bother at all... I just plan to really try and get commissions on FA for the first time, and lots of posts here really make me look bad(and understanably so for most of it). Words like "disgusting", etc.. x_x As you know I'm actually quite nice, honest, and try my best to please people. I just put wayyy too much on my plate and I let my commissioners down at that time. I feel awful but promised to make it right and I did. So at this point I want to move on but am worried this will make it difficult. I think.

Also, I plan on joining this community. I think it would be helpful if used properly and all. Will I be allowed to if I'm posted here(@ Kerstin/admins)? Gonna try now and hopefully it'll work. If not that's fine - either way. I just figure why not, y'know? No big deal. >;]

[identity profile] galagya.livejournal.com 2012-06-06 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, not sure of how much help this will be, but here's a screenshot of the last 2 posts from the Serenity topic where I needed to refund people before:
http://i.imgur.com/1Emvc.png

You can see me wrapping up the last refund(the double delta thing is speaking of the online currency, "deltas", used on Chatlands... some people were given 2x what they paid in Paypal with deltas, coz you can flip them for cash if you sell them at 2 deltas per dollar - some people asked if that was enough and I was confirming, some people still preferred Paypal(which was 100% fine I just had to sell my deltas myself which I did for Kaylibayne and a couple others I believe)). Point is, last post is someone talking about saving for them, below my post. I dunno how well that serves for proof, but anyways if you happen to have an account there, proof can be seen by going to the topic posted below(where I got the screenie from) and seeing that nobody else posted asking for refunds after that point coz they were all refunded! I even gave people additional permissions for using my art on these sites to compensate for their time spent dealing with me when I was unable to provide my best services to them.

http://forum.serenityisles.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1676&start=90

I will continue searching for more proof in the mean time! Thanks and sorry this is such a hassle to close up this issue. >;[ It's been over for a while and I feel bad that it's so confusing to prove it, ahh... sorrysorrysorry. :C

[identity profile] kayla-la.livejournal.com 2012-06-06 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone is allowed to participate in AB (assuming they're not banned, of course).

I will say though that we'd appreciate you not bringing random people over here to vouch for you if they're going to act up and chew out the OP. Whiteknights aren't well-received here and it's unnecessary.

To clarify, there's a difference between 'She's been doing her commissions, here's proof' and 'WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS POST, SHE HAS A LIFE, STOP TRYING TO TRASH HER, BLARGH'. We're fine with the former, not so much the latter, and if we suddenly have an influx of that it's going to reflect poorly upon you.

[identity profile] galagya.livejournal.com 2012-06-06 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually didn't request that. I simply asked if anyone had information that could help, or if they knew anyone else who could help, etc.. They posted on their own accord. Sorry about that, but I have nothing to do with their opinions or whatever. >;[ I personally don't have a problem with this site or anything. Like I said, I think it's a potentially great place, without a doubt. I literally even said "no whiteknighting, I just need to prove this is done and over with" etc. lmao, you can ask whoever. If they chose to go against that I just hope it's not reflected upon me. Not trying to start a debate or anything, just saying I realize that wouldn't help, which is why I requested people not do it. Ultimately, though, I can't control them. Sorry about the confusion.

[identity profile] wildwolfdragon.livejournal.com 2012-06-10 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, I was one of the people from that Serenity Event and I received my deltas as a refund. I don't have the proof because they don't save the monthly recites past 2 months and it was last year. Not trying to be a white-knight or anything.

[identity profile] lithane.livejournal.com 2012-06-06 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
I know this isn't necessary information; however, a lot of the people from this incident are not available to comment. I'd just like to confirm that galagya has been keeping up with her commissions lately - there was a bit of a rut a ways in the past, but all that stuff has been taken care of now. I hope this helps.

Currently Commissioning Gala

[identity profile] becca geahry (from livejournal.com) 2012-06-06 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
So I am currently Commissioning Gala.
Yes I do know that in the past she HAD a bit of trouble when it came to the time span of poses/commissions being made, but so far from what I have seen she is nothing like what she use to be. I also in the past have had my issues with Gala's wait, but apparently have a little more common curtsey to give her another chance to prove herself then others. It is also fine if people believe she will never change at this point, but no need to keep knocking her around about a subject that is old and now fixed. Why not help to lift her and let her become a great artist rather then trash her to the point where there is no hope of return.
As far as my own personal commission at this point in time Gala has been nothing but professional and always makes sure I have updates and lets me add my two cents on the piece which a lot of artists now a days don't let alone let you watch as they make it come to life. Gala also puts up with the fact I am only up at nights and comes on when I am on to make sure that I can see my piece being made. Most don't care or even try to get a hold of me. I also know that with great art comes a bit of a wait. For other pieces of art I had to commission an artist 6 months in advance and that was not even a garentee that it would get done in that time span. If you want great quality sometimes it comes with a little patients on your part. Now I do agree a year or so is a little excessive, but last time I checked Gala has a life and it don't revolve around a computer. That and things happen all the time. Some of which even you least expect. Don't badger another person because something happen in real life to them and they got a little behind. Hell should be happy she was considerate enough to refund everyone that stepped forward and said something. In the real world sometimes that don't even happen.
Anyways the gist of this all is... give her a chance to clear her name let her be the artist you want rather then rubbing her name in the dirt and basically trying to ruin and get rid of a great artist.
All I know is so far I am pleased with the art I have gotten and even the wait is not that long. There are also others on Wolfhome.com/forum that agree with me if you need the proof I have attached links to screenies of this.

As someone who had commented on this post I figured it'd be helpful if I provided proof on everything being completed for me.

I did purchase the wolf-set presale and Gala, although offering double deltas, was kind enough to refund me through paypal as that was how I had originally paid:
http://screencast.com/t/gg9XLCPd

As far as the dredge pups go, I did receive my refund (and then some as she included extra deltas to allow us to resell them easily). However, as mentioned before, Chatlands only keeps a delta record up to 2 months and, since these were refunded back in February, I am unable to pull up my delta statements far enough. But, I can provide a screenshot of a user confirming their refund as well as Gala's refunded list:
http://screencast.com/t/f6BNiwvcO
http://screencast.com/t/hT0dwv888 (I know some say partial but she never updated her list after this and many confirmed having received their full refunds).

Finally, she has been taking new commissions on WH, with a "pay upon completion" policy and FA, with a "pay after sketch approval" offering a refund if its not completed within 30 days (which is well within Paypal's dispute limits and refund times):
http://screencast.com/t/3GYfCwkXCRqT
http://screencast.com/t/0Owfn6hMDF8
http://screencast.com/t/g4bRkLIdZ9lV

Also, I did submit an update post for Galagya, thinking a new update would be better than commenting on an old post. If that's not the case, since the post has everything this comment has, you can go ahead and deny it for posting or whatever. Sorry!
