Posting a warning to those who may consider commissioning deviantart's Chibi-Shini http://chibi-shini.deviantart.com/

Paid $20 via paypal in March 2007 for a pretty simple two character commission.

I emailed her in April '08 about the commission, saying I'd be happy for any art of my characters if she felt more comfortable with it, as long as it was still cg (not a sketch or anything). I love to see progress shots and asked that, if she couldn't provide them, could she at least keep me updated on any progress.
She returned to the internet in July '08 but I still have yet to hear hide or hair of anything.
As of last month, it seems she's abandoned her account once more.
I have emailed her once again, asking for a refund but haven't got a response.


I want to add that she is not rude or short-tempered, merely flaky. Still, I doubt I will never see a pixel of my commission. And I want others to be aware.
I've asked around and she also seems to be owing a few people art and some phone charm commissions. One actually did receive hers after alot of pestering.

:) I think it was really nice of you to wait so long, and be even-tempered about it. I get stressed out when people pay me, and expect things to be done in the next day. :s

That is a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a sketch, though. :o Good luck, and thanks for the warning.

Yes, kudos for being so nice and patient :)
I can't take payment before I start something it makes me nervous XD
I only ask to be payed after the lines of whatever it is I'm drawing are done then I don't feel the pressure as much and feel less like a jerk if I can't finish it for whatever reason.

Well, I know how poky I can be with commissions so I try to cut everyone else alot of slack. After a year, though, I get nervous. :D

Wow, such patience! I can't believe she never responded to you though. If I know I have a commission in the works I try to check msgs everyday, and respond to them immediately. I even send WIP shots of the sketch for approval before coloring.

Yes, I'm hoping she's just busy or without internet access and she'll get back to me soon. I think she just took on more than she should've and is getting a bit of a backlash.
