Lost Contact/ Beware RavynWolf

On September 24th of last year I bought an ATC of Squirtle from a TeenyCom poster by the name of RavynWolf. (Original post here: http://community.livejournal.com/teenycom/189581.html)

After I sent the payment I received no response from the artist, despite having messaged them several times.

I was quite busy at the time and after writing it down in my commissions log that I keep I forgot all about it. A couple months later (probably January 2010) I messaged them again on LJ with no response.

I kind of figured, "eh, it was $5.25 and I'm not getting it back, best move on" but today on deviant art, I saw someone post a commission for ravynwolf.

I'm not sure if the commissioner ravynwolf on DA is the same as ravynwolf on LJ, but it leads me to wonder if this person has taken other people's money and then bought commissions with them.

I know there isn't much I can do for my situation, but I wanted to warn both commissioners and artists of this person. Any advice is welcome. I'd also like to try and contact the artist if anyone has a way of contacting them.

Edit: I think I tried emailing them using the email provided on the user info/ paypal description, but I deleted a lot of old emails and can't find it XD So I'm re doing that now.

Do you still have their paypal email? I would try emailing, LJ messaging is pretty dicey, I've had times where I had NO IDEA someone messaged me until months later.

LJ messaging is horrid for being not obvious. I've had people message me and not even know that it's there. Unless you change the settings to get email notifications for them it's easy to miss them for months.

*nods* I have email notification but I don't always get it either. It's just dicey overall. I love LJ, but not for the PM system!

This. ravynwolf has a contact email listed in her profile info.

I still think she should have kept in contact and it shouldn't have taken her this long to do an ATC [though I can't really talk about the length of time a commission should take >.>], but you should try more avenues of contact. The LJ PM system is awful.

That is incorrect. I have messages from over 90 weeks back, so if you sent it, it should still be there.

Also seconding that LJ messaging is notorious for being horrible and not sending/receiving messages as well, on top of not notifying.

This. LJ doesn't delete messages unless you reach the maximum of 2000, and I believe it then starts deleting from the oldest through to the newest as you get new messages.

RavynWolf owes me pair of buttons from like a year or 2 ago, all iv received is promise after promise that she would mail these out, but I have never seen these buttons.

Yeah I do. I'm going to try mailing them there. It's just weird because they responded to the initial message asking if they were open etc and then a couple weeks later when I messages about status I got nothing @_@

LJ notifications has been weird for months now, I'm not sure they're even trying to work on this problem or if it's just how LJ will be from now on so try alternatives- her DA/FA, email, anything you can find.
