Is this a community for people to warn artists (about art theft, harassment, disrespectful clients), or is it a community to warn people about artists? I see a lot of warnings about artists. Is that within the original intention of this community?

The description of the community says "Here is a place for artists of any kind, be it furry, fantasy, anime, whatever, that have recieved harassment, threats and just plain disrespect from their commissioner or requestees."

But a lot of people do seem to be complaining about flaky artists as well. Maybe there should be a sister community, buyer_beware or something?

it's really as much artists_beware as it is beware_artists.

I like it that we have both topics in one place. a new community might break it up and even just lead to additional (redundant) crossposting. perhaps a few tweaks can/should be made to the userinfo. :)

I'm not sure I get what are you are saying...commissioners go with "buying" doesn't it? And since this is already the place for warnings of those kind a sister comm would just be annoying and lead to more crossposting.

I think making a second community would be redundant. It actually seems fair that the same community is used for artists to complain about commissioners and vice-versa. This way we get a more even-handed overview of the pitfalls of the commissioning process from both sides.

Plus, there's also that some of the people interested in commissioning art, are artists themselves, so it works well together, I'd think.

A lot of artists are also customers (buying or trading art), so it's nice to know who is and isn't dependable.

It's used for both, regardless of the original intention, and it seems to be working out ok without creating another superfluous community.

It is (officially) for both.

It both really. Its to warn folks about bad business, and also to report art theift. I think it has grown into far more than what was original intended, but it is defiantly one of the most useful and intersting communites about art on Livejournal, imo.

This place is for both as far as I know

I think it works best when used for both, but I think that the userinfo could perhaps reflect that better.

There's no real need for a second community imho, since this one doesn't get a high volume of posts anyway (which can only be a good thing), plus most of the members would crossover as artists often commission work, too.
