A year ago on the 14th I paid for 3 icons to [livejournal.com profile] hmo My husbands came out fine, however the one of my dog I requested and my personal icon were not. The one of Yerich was mis colored grey in parts vs white, and my braids were forgotten... knowing this now... I asked politely if she could fix the errors. She said no problem, Ill get them done / fixed within 1-2 weeks. (I mean cmon how HARD is it to re color a dog were you messed up and did GREY vs white and add braids?) I dont even have copies of the ones that were "in error" either... Well long story short I then commented in her LJ about being on the list of owed items. I was originaly placed on it ... then REMOVED... but no icons still. Emailed several times and finnaly got told " I was not a priority" so I got "removed from the owed list" Ive since then asked twice for updates because im sorry yes there just icons but .... I am a paid customer. At this point I doubt I could contest the paypal charges, nor will she refund me and I am just counting this as a loss... but I am not happy. Its sad to see great artists, have such bad buisness manners.

I understand always real life comes first, but keep your customers updated if your going to take this long for two simple icons :(

**EDIT** As of the 19th Contact has been re established, and she says she will work on them along w/ other backlog stuff. So heres hoping this is resolved and that everyone gets there stuff. Shes handling it very well so thats always a plus over some that would not do so great. Shes admiting to the backup and trying now to go thru them. If your owed anything and dont watch her LJ but see this. Resend your info or go to her LJ to get info were to send the descripts etc. I thought id Edit and add this in for any that might re read it later.

I still haven't gotten the full-sized 400x400 versions of my icons, either... plus, she listed me by my RL last name instead of by my avatar name like she did with everyone else... I still don't know what gives. :p

Sorry to hear that you're having even WORSE luck with her. She's terribly talented, but not very good at communicating with the commissioner.

Depending on what she used to colour it, recolouring can be done in a matter of seconds or a few hours. But having to wait a few weeks only to be removed from the customer list? O_o
Yikes.

Cripes! I really cannot understand why people are like that. Sorry to hear you've had such trouble, I hope you get a refund soon.

20 bucks is a decent chunk of change and it sucks to lose it :/
If I may ask, was the work digitial?

As a side thought, I really like the way you draw eyes on your cute characters. :)

Yeah, I went to visit your website after you mentioned your own art, since I'm quite the art appreciator and such. The thumbnails of your galleries really stood out because of the very sweet, gentle looking eyes in your characters, and those are qualities that I'm always looking for. :)

I don't understand why artists do that, as one myself, I've never placed somone on low priority jsut because it's a small commission. If anything, those get finished first because they're just easier to do. Thank you for bringing her up though, I'm going to be sure and stay away from her!

Aw thanks hehe. I've been a fan of Louie for ages now, but I also found that that the series /manga/anime is in the same realm as Lodoss Wars and Lodoss Wars Tv. So there's always those two to accompany it, just not nearly as goofy :3.

I commissioned a full commission from her like a year ago... And despite contacting her, have not seen hide nor hair of it. I guess her life is terrible or something and she's flat broke. I don't know whether to pity her or be pissed off but I have more pressing matters in real life than the $53 I sent her for a commission.

I seriously hope she's not still accepting commissions when she has 1+ year waiting lists... because that's just ridiculous.

I ordered a $20 digital badge from HMO over a year ago that was paid for in full within a week of sale. I still have not recieved my badge.

Yeah.. I don't understand that either. With me.. it's first come, first serve to get on my commissions list and I do them in that order, no matter what size the commission. I also don't take someone OFF my list until they are 100% completely satisfied and we both agree the transaction is over and final and then I move on to the next commissioner so I find it kind of.. odd.. that hmo would run her business like that and not care about her customers. So sad. I was going to commission her for something but I'd rather not now. She's talented but so are a lot of other artists out there. I'll just get someone else.

I work a full time job. Come home and I have to take care of 2 disabled people and I'm constantly worried about bills and I still get my commissions done. "Terrible life" or not, she can at least keep in contact with her customers and let them know what is going on. I understand life happens, some people on my list have been waiting a LONG time but I also update them CONSTANTLY on what is going on. So sad. I hope you get to see your commission soon.

I am out over $50 to hmo...money I plan on never seeing again. I keep getting dicked around on my commission by them...and the time to give them the benefit of the doubt (closing in on two years, with no real response) has come and gone.

I try to work on commissions in the order they come in, no matter how much work has to go into the piece. Even with customers whom demand that the piece be done NOW, no matter the order of things *dealing with a customer like that right now... deeeeeemanding guy...*.

HMO is a really REALLY good artist, however the way she deals with customers is wrong. A friend of mine ordered a tail from her WAY before last Halloween, paid and everything, and she did not send it out in the time she said she was going to. I ended up running to the fabric store, pulled out my sewing machine and making one up in one night quickly for my friend, and mailed it out within 2 days of finishing it. It doesn't take much to mail out a tail that's already been made.

No matter what the situation, one should always always ALWAYS keep in contact with all their customers, keep all contact information, payment info, emails, letters, pm's lists, references, etc. until the commission is totally finished. And no placing one customer above another. If it means having to give up some free time in order to do your work in a first come first serve order, then so be it. My customers are aware of the first come first serve waiting list and as long as they know about it, they're cool about it. I just give them a heads up as to when to send the payment before I start work on anything. Again, they're cool with doing that.

If you're a person dealing with customers, hey, you're then running a mini business, and putting one's customers off because you don't think it's a 'priority piece' is bad business ethics. And yeah, I do have a LOT of work besides art commissions, but STILL keep in contact with customers.

Wow.. I just found this and feel I should add to it. I had finally got the icon of Caleb I'd ordered from her. It was gorgeous, BUT, she added the hair that was in the reference pic I gave her that I specifically said NOT to add. :/ I never said anything though because there had been so much going on in her life and whatnot. Oh well.
