I just wanted to reflect to the community on a artist I have been waiting for a commission since Oct of 2005. I understand art takes time, but the last time she has replyed to a e-mail of mine was in Mon, 5 Dec 2005. This artist has been active on her website, and I e-mailed her on her new/old e-mail address. Would anyone mind telling me if there is any other option I can take. The artist I am talking on behalf of is Oakpaw. The last e-mail included a VERY rough sketch but that is all I have had since :( I already paid her for this in Oct of 05 also. Any help/suggestions would be great.

~Glowstickk

Edit: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] fiercereaper I got in e-mailed her on her website e-mail and got a prompt reply. Lets see how it goes from there.

Oakpaw tends to not be online a lot, and last I heard she wasn't drawing anthros anymore. This is no excuse, though. I know the e-mail for her website is oakpawart@yahoo.com. If she dosn't respond promptly send several e-mails, and maybe asking for a refund is the best way to go. I'm pretty damn sure she works with computers, so it's not like she dosn't have online access. She should be e-mailing you, I don't know why she isn't.

She used to have an AIM and YIM but I don't know them anymore. Maybe someone here will. Good luck, I hope you get your art or money!

http://www.itsafarwalk.com/ This is her new website, with new email. Try that, maybe you'll get a response, hopefully.

Oh wow. My Illustration professor had mentioned her to me a while ago, as she went to my college. I wasn't aware she was well known in the anthro/furry community though, as I hadn't heard of her since then.

Regardless, I'm glad you got in touch with her. I'm assuming since she responded to you fast she'd be willing to rectify the situation, which is a good sign. Good luck.

Mm good luck to you I commissioned her in 2004 and was unsatisfied with what she gave me. I hope you have a better experience.

Oakpaw art , or lack of

I also tried a commission with Oakpaw. One, a long time ago, went fairly well. I commissioned her again in Feb of 2005. Sent her an advance payment of $115.00 for, and it was noted without question, a 16X19 piece of artwork on Bristol paper. A sketch was sent around April, which I ok'd. The art was to be done before Anthrocon and was to be an anniversary present. This she was told several times. By the end of June, nothing had been done and a lot of excuses as to why. More and more time went by and more and more excuses. Finally after more than a year, she sent me a finished drawing .. that was only 8 1/2 X 11 1/2! I told her right away about the error. She apologized and said she would re-do it. More emails, stalling and excuses and finally, at the end of 2006 I get a picture that was 16 X 11 on plain white paper. I sent it back to her and at that point requested a refund. I did offer to pay her some for the smaller piece of artwork that was at least on the Bristol paper. I have got some of the money back and none of it willingly. I have had to email over and over and pry every little payment from her. She still owes me $20 and has not bothered to answer any emails at all since Nov 16th. Her email addresses are jenna@itsafarwalk.com and celticbonfires@yahoo.com. She is active on her own blog site and I'm tempted to publicly post on there for her and all her new (and unsuspecting) friends to see. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I did actually post this on her blog page yesterday. Maybe it will be the only way to get something moving. My issue has gone on for years. Maybe if others post to her blog page as well it might acieve something. The page is at http://www.itsafarwalk.blogspot.com/ (the page works with IE but not Firefox) She can always elect to remove the posts I'd imagine. But enough is enough and others need to see the unfinished business that's been left behind. :( So sad to see an artist do this to people. I would like other commissions from different artists, but now have an issue trusting anyone to do the work. I paid her in advance for work unseen and went without a few things to be able to send the money too. For that, have been pretty much stuffed into a dark back corner and left to gather dust.

Seems that this is what it took. Oakpaw squared her account with me. Lots of apologies ... but, geeez, this never should have taken years to finalise anyway. Posting to the blog site might be the answer. Good luck all.
