Journal created TODAY, posting there requesting a surprise "contest" of conbadges of their "friend Yuchi", the prize being art from their said friend. When I told them just dropping this information on her at the end of this surprise contest would be rude and they should consider a different type of prize, they replied within two minutes or so saying she's okay with it they just asked and yadda yadda. Yeah, within two minutes... I call them out on this bullshit and they delete their journal! Surprise surprise!

Added bonus, two of the pictures in her FA gallery linked were uploaded just two days ago. Awww, convenient.

In regards to her latest FA journal, visible through that link to her name... is it really possible to copyright a "totally original" species like Figers? Or even those lame hangy-badge things she makes? I hope not. :/ I like how she compares them to Sergals, which IMO are tons more creative than what appears to me to be a fox with three or four stripes on its face or something.

yeah, that figer thing is pretty ridiculous. OMG I WORKED REALLY HARD ON CREATING THIS TOTALLY ORIGINAL CHARACTER I DO NOT APPROOOOOVE!!!!

like...wtf. it's a fox with stripes. that's all it looks like. and tons of people have hybrid characters, there's no reason to believe that someone will never ever have the idea to cross a tiger and a fox (two pretty popular animals in the fandom), and, heaven forbid, name it something totally original like FIGER.

Heh. I love stupid free-art schemes like this. Is it really that hard to pony up the $15-$30 for a conbadge? You really only need one. Apart from the inherent drama, even Zeriara draws some cute ones for a reasonable price. Really...it isn't that hard. Pay money. Receive art. No need to lie and cheat to get them.

Yeah, Zer's badges are cuter than Yuchi's, and a lot more well-drawn. Plus the drama comes free of charge! :D

I don't think it's too harsh to post about this in artist_beware because it's inherently dishonest, even though you'd still get a badge if you won. If she's willing to make a fake journal and pretend to be another person, who's to say she won't lie about other art-related things?

Yuchi's art is okay. Pretty much at the thin red line where I'd say art of that skill level is acceptably shared on the internet. I wouldn't be surprised if she just took the badges and then put her part of the trade off and just disappeared.

Myeaaah... her art isn't BAD, but it's not something that would entice me to make free art for in a contest. :P And that's a good point, another good reason to bring her up here in case that were to happen. (If the contest does go forward anyway.)

Well, that's the part that gets me. What good is it to steal art when the only place you can really display it IS AT THE VERY SAME PLACE WHERE ALL OF THE ARTISTS YOU STOLE THE ART FROM ARE GOING. But, I'm not ruling out that she could be honest and do her side of the trade. It'd have to be a 60/40 thing of course, but if she holds up her end of it then that's cool. But who's going to trust her when she's already lied about this in the first place?

She can copyright the word 'figers' but that's it. when it comes to having complete rights over a concept like Max's zig-zag you need a registered trademark which takes a lawyer and a ton of money to get.
