Journal created TODAY, posting there requesting a surprise "contest" of conbadges of their "friend Yuchi", the prize being art from their said friend. When I told them just dropping this information on her at the end of this surprise contest would be rude and they should consider a different type of prize, they replied within two minutes or so saying she's okay with it they just asked and yadda yadda. Yeah, within two minutes... I call them out on this bullshit and they delete their journal! Surprise surprise!

Added bonus, two of the pictures in her FA gallery linked were uploaded just two days ago. Awww, convenient.

In regards to her latest FA journal, visible through that link to her name... is it really possible to copyright a "totally original" species like Figers? Or even those lame hangy-badge things she makes? I hope not. :/ I like how she compares them to Sergals, which IMO are tons more creative than what appears to me to be a fox with three or four stripes on its face or something.

like...wtf. it's a fox with stripes. that's all it looks like. and tons of people have hybrid characters, there's no reason to believe that someone will never ever have the idea to cross a tiger and a fox (two pretty popular animals in the fandom), and, heaven forbid, name it something totally original like FIGER.

She can copyright the word 'figers' but that's it. when it comes to having complete rights over a concept like Max's zig-zag you need a registered trademark which takes a lawyer and a ton of money to get.

2. She can't copyright the format because other people have done it before her, not original.
3. She can't copyright either tigers or foxes.
4. She can't copyright the hybrid thereof because others have done it before her, not original.

Now if she made a unique species with a unique name and appearance she could copyright it, but not these things.

Heh. I love stupid free-art schemes like this. Is it really that hard to pony up the $15-$30 for a conbadge? You really only need one. Apart from the inherent drama, even Zeriara draws some cute ones for a reasonable price. Really...it isn't that hard. Pay money. Receive art. No need to lie and cheat to get them.

I don't think it's too harsh to post about this in artist_beware because it's inherently dishonest, even though you'd still get a badge if you won. If she's willing to make a fake journal and pretend to be another person, who's to say she won't lie about other art-related things?

Random note (and no, I haven't read all the replies): "figer" is already taken. Quality Lenders in the upper Midwest is currently running a radio commercial about a "figer sanctuary". A figer is really a cross between a ferret and a tiger.

I suppose I was wrong doing this and I guess I wanted to feel better due to all the stress I've been enduring, so instead fo posting it on my page I didn't see anything wrong with posting it on LJ. -sigh- This was wrong of me and I have never done something like this, I suppose I didn't see the harm but I do see it now. Denying it was wrong too and I realze that if I want trinkets of my characters or something done for my mate, I should either do trades or hold a contest of my own.

Alot of stress has been layed down upon me and I guess it led me to doing this. My parents have been really highstrung, exams are coming soon, I'm getting ready to move and one of my friends is laying around with a guy she barely knows and being a friend I'm scared. I guess it's understandable that you guys are mad at me.

I know you may not listen but could we put this matter behind us? I don't like conflict and I was STUPID and didn't think of the harm behind it or how badly it could hurt me.

For those who know me I know you're dissapointed and I'm sorry. As I am new to the fanndom I ask for one more chance. Not the normal 3 chances, just one more. Everyone makes mistakes and this was mine.

I'm amused at the fact that she tries to keepmaking excuses for herself...like "omg, just kidding! It's really stress related!" Hell, I'm as stressed as hell, and you don't see ME posing as someone else to get free shit.

I'd like to see her go through the process of copyrighting her "hanging" badges. I managed copyrighted mine, but I only could because they were a unique enough design to doso. I'll tell you now that its a difficult long process. It's not worth the trouble on THOSE badges. Copyrighting takes a LOT of patience and a good bit of money. It also requires it to be very SPECIFIC about the design.

She can't copyright a Figer. As Thaily pointed out, she may be able to copyright the WORD, but that's about it. And somehow, I doubt that she will, its not worth the trouble. Tiger/Foxes have been in the fandom for years. They're as common as fox/wolf hybrids 9.9


She'll be marked as a scammer until she can otherwise proove herself.
