Update on Zippo

I just received a note over on FurAffinity from one of the admins to give me an update. It already looked like Zippo had been banned, not just because of what happened with me, but because there have been many complaints about her (I thought Zippo was a him, but the admin said he is actually a she).

So it turns out that Zippo started contacting the admins to harrass them about her ban, which wound up getting her banned status set to permanent.

So I'm not sure if it was an IP ban or just username, but from what I was told it doesn't look like Zippo should be able to cause any more trouble with any other artists, at least on FA.

Just wanted to give you guys an update. And please, no more arguments about my stances on what I will and won't draw. It's really not pertinent to the situation what my standards for drawing are. The point is that a threat of bodily harm was made, and due action was taken against the user who did such.

While I won't pretend that I was an angel in this situation, which I wasn't by any means AFTER Zippo flipped out on my journal and made threats, being "snarky" is in no way just as bad as threatening to physically harm someone, whether you mean it or not. Being "mean" doesn't exactly match up with breaking the law (it IS against the law to threaten someone with physical violence, even on the Internet).

So no more arguing about all that stuff, okay, guys? I think these are points that pretty much got driven into the ground in my last post. So those of us in disagreement over stuff, let's just agree to disagree and wash our hands of that whole mess.

In my experience "permanent" bans aren't all that permanent on FA plus it's pretty retarded that they ban it (I refuse to acknowledge it's gender) over harassing the admins rather than making death threats.

But let's hope it stays banned this time. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Just because someone's snarky doesn't mean you get to make death threats, not to mention the fact it sent you death threats over not wanting to draw animal cocks. I mean, people don't realize artists look at reference when drawing stuff and not everyone wants to look at that shit.

The death threats were not posted on FA, but via an IM service. They couldn't ban him unless the threat was made on FA. And believe me, I know a few Admins who wanted to ban him, but couldn't at the time.

Thankfully he has been banned, although in my opinion, if someone is banned from a site, shouldn't they be totally removed from the site? His gallery is still up...

Cheap excuse, everyone knows what Zippo has been up to over the years and that a lot of abuse has been centered around FA because the site put him in contact with his victims.

If a user attack/threatens somebody on AIM, that's their problem. FA has no tangible proof that it occured and happened, nor will FA admins take sides in either case. Now, if the user admits on FA that they threatened the person, then it becomes FA's problem, and from the user's own volition, it becomes tangible evidence.

I had a feminist crusade against me. Looking back on it now it's hilarious, but it rattled me so much.

People were talking to Star Wars fans in 99. I said

"Among my group of friends, the girls got into Star Wars because of the ewoks"

The reported truncated it to "Girls got into Star Wars because of the ewoks" and because of this, a group of Star Wars women got up in arms and WITHOUT ASKING ME if the quote was accurate were organizing a slur campaign against me.

A friend of mine who was on this mailing list put his (yes his) membership on the line by telling me they were planning to do this so i could defend myself. When i sent an explanation 95% of them backed off, but I still had 5% of them harassing me now and again. I actually drifted away from Star Wars fandom for a couple of years because of it.

The violence threat was against me at Gencon, I had made friends with most of the ladies (They were nice) but one partcular woman had too much to drink and came up to me and said 'OH! You're the EWOK lady!' and started getting really antsy. I left for my own safety. :(

It depends on which way you mean. I'm sure you won't get many gals trying to 'yiff' and 'mur' you to death with the inept sexual social skillz you'd expect from a basement dwelling, 300lb, 30 year old man. However, I can safely say both genders as equally as fucking nuts if you compared their 'insane' to 'population' ratios. K@K, anyone?

Just as an FYI, Zippo is in fact, a He. He's hung out with us at our place over a weekend, I've met him.

That said, yes, I agree he was out of line, and he tends to be that way-there are times when he can be decent, though.
