Over three years.....

I've been waiting three years for this 300$ comission from Jace, but just recently I decided to organise the emails into one folder as they take up a good portion of my inbox.

Here's a jpg to give you an idea of all the times he's made excuses for not having it done.

over 150 emails back and forth and I still have nothing to show for it.

I don't know what I can do about it yet..... he just won't do anything.

Normally I'd say that legal action is going too far for a commission, but when it's been three years, $300 and when the artist is this... nonresponsive, I'd say it's perfectly justifiable. Maybe madd_tom_kit can even gather up others who've been ripped off by Jace and get them to join him. (Looking back through artist_beware should do the trick.)

Wow, I'd be really curious to see how much he still owed people in commissions if someone made a tally of all these posts. And it's probably just a fraction of what he really owes.

What amazes me is that Jace can ask and get $300 for his services, his work really isn't anything special. There are cheaper and more reliable artists available so why do we keep hearing tales of people who've commissioned him and others despite a long line of ripped off customers?

$300 is frankly what artists should be asking for MINIMUM at that level. However artists not knowing or understanding the market drive prices down until that sounds expensive. I used to get more money for commissions five years ago when my art blew than I do now, because of that phenominon.

As for why people keep commissioning. People like his art for one and for another the list of satified people hugely outweighs the unsatisfied ones. Artists are generally unreliable creatures, and as such one is always taking risks by commissioning them... but people commission that particular artist because they like their work in particular.

He's 3 years overdue on an art trade he had with me, but since there was no money involved it can't really be counted.

Reading this all is sad, because he's always been a really nice guy to me and is fun to hang out with in person. I guess he just has some time-management issues.

you should get the numbers of how much he owes people, edit the main post with the who, the amounts and everything added up. Would save people from clicking every single comment to see it all.

Well the purpose isn't to get a tally we all know he's past 1k.....the idea of teh post is to find someone to help and to warn others not to commission him.
