He goes by the name Canis Claxis or Lhurtwolf or Xalc. He will offer to pay you money using Paypal for a commission or a 'request' and then after you complete the image he will find something petty to complain about and demand a full refund. Since he uses Paypal, he uses their service to extract the money out of your account after filing a dispute. He never provides a mailing address so you cannot ship the item and therefore you have to refund.

When I tried to reason with him, he went nuts and wrote this:

>>The character was supposed to be full lenght.
Quite frankly I'm tired of so called "artists" jerking me around.
I love furry , but humans with their greed & disinterest killing it makes me sick.
If braford, aura and micah wasn't bad enough, now you want to screw me.
Furry is the only thing on this entire planet that was great, but money & laziness got in the way.
Another great idea down the tubes.
I was hopeing you would be different, but you weren't.
I hope the money you make only brings you sorrow, because the desparately needed money for the future that I've spent on furry has certianly done that to me.
What a bunch of whores.<<

He is either crazy or he is running a scam. So far Micah Fennec, Aura Moser, Braford, and other artists (including myself) have been burned. He uses lies and threats to get his way, even threatening SUICIDE to get the art from you. He also sends harassing emails.

Having written to other artist he has used in this way, I can conclude that this guy is to be avoided like the Plague.

That's where you get an unofficial contract signed before things start.... Did y'not show him pencil sketches before the finished image? I'm sure you probably did.

This guy is probably a scammer. And frankly I'd look into doing no refunds after the image is complete and the pencils/inks were okayed.

I avoid paypal personally like the plague.

Paypal has a lot of problems and I don't want to get stuck using it.. (Which irks me since some people I'd like to purchase from do Paypal only -- And some say that if you don't have Paypal, you're a scammer.. Ha!) =^9_9^=;

Anywho, does he have any haunts or anything that anyone should be aware of..? o_o;

Some people live abroad, and getting money across the pond cheaply is hard.
Not all people who use Paypal are scammers ;)

But yeah, this guy is. Maybe all the people who have been duped could band together and complain?

If I come across him, I'll not only be sure to get the description of the character in writing (actual writing, not email, which can be altered), but I'll also make sure I have his mailing address before I start the commission.

Thanks for the heads up.

Judging from Meg's Report, I'd think that with that sort of aggravation, even his money isnt sufficient. It might be best to just deline the requwest.

Sounds a lot like yet another nutball from the "all furry art must be free and artists should never charge" shit-for-brains crowd.

I don't use paypal in the first place, and since paypal does not allow adult material, a complaint would get him on violation of terms of service clause.
(I'm told paypal defined ALL furry art as "adult" a while back regardless of subject matter, so that even fully clothed characters are considered adult in nature- Can anyone confirm this?)

I deal in money orders because money orders are trackable and the buyer and the artist have more legal protections using them than with paypal or any online finance service.

To be perfectly honest, it sounds way too much like the stunts Michael Hirtis pulled on several furry artists back when he actually spent money on furry art....

Yes, I remember him. He contacted me approximately a year ago, but luckily I turned him down at the time and suggested Braford as someone who could draw in his preferred style. :(
Damn. I hope I'm not the one who got poor Braford burnt.
