Some recent events elsewhere have led me to want to post a little public service announcement.

Never, ever, ever, ever pay somebody you do not know WELL and intimately with a Western Union. You cannot, no matter what sort of fraud takes place, get your money back. And ANY seller that insists on Western Union and won't take any other form of payment is a fraud, plain and simple.

This is something everybody should know about.

Unfortunately, I think I understand the main reason for this. About the commissioner pretending to be Lacy =(

As a victim of a Western Union user fraud, I agree whole heartedly with this. Stay away from WU. WU is not out to protect you like paypal is in most cases. It's for completely different circumstances. (though, I dout even under those circumstances I would ever use WU again... ever.)

I've accepted WU as payment, but I don't particularly like it.
What concerns me more is having to pick it up at the office which is always, ALWAYS filled with ghetto trash in these parts. I always feel like I could get mugged before I step out the door.

O.o Wow, thank you for sharing this, I certainly didn't know. I don't buy much, but when I do, I'll start looking out for WU requests.

Oh, I put Western Union on my auction because I thought it might be more convenient for people who don't have US currency to buy my stuff without having to use paypal. I hope it doesn't affect the auctions I have right now.

Uh, hello. I am either dumb or it's the fact that I live in Finland but I don't know what "Western Union" means, can you explain me?

Yay, I'm from Finland as well! There are several Western Union agencies in Finland - mostly two or three in the biggest cities, often in the vicinity of malls like Wiklund and Stockman. I've heard good things about Western Union, but I generally trust Paypal more.

Basically what you need to have in order to receive cash sent to you is the approximate address of the sender and a ten-digit safety number.

OMG I recognize you from FA hello :D
Good to know where these places of the company.. thing, are located in here. gives me a better picture. This totally made me convinced to get the paypal, but I have to find out about how to use paypal-money with credit card first. That seems to be the only way of getting them "out" from there.

But yeah. Kiitos kun selvensit :B
