WHAT: A fully colored digital drawing

WHEN: July 2006 - Present

PROOF: Please see timeline below

EXPLAIN: I find it easier to present the proof as a timeline.

7/18/2006 - Shiretoko posted on deviantart that she was open for commissions. She mentioned in that journal she had a different type of commission advertised on her y!gallery page. I contacted her on deviantart because the y! website was crashing on me and she accepted. [initial contact] [initial response]

7/20/2006 - After giving her the details she gave me the final total and her paypal address. [details and payment] I sent the money that day. [paypal screencap]

I don't have any more screenshots or anything saved because I don't remember when or how I contacted her again for progress. She pretty much fell off the face of the internet so I gave up on the commission about 4 years ago in 2008. I think at some point I contacted her on LiveJournal but I've deleted all messages in my inbox. Anyway, I gave up on ever seeing anything a long time ago.

3/21/2012 – She posted a journal about a gallery revamp and a note towards the bottom about people she owes drawings to with an apology. I didn't actually see this journal until a couple months later. [journal cap]

6/11/2012 – I saw the journal and sent her a note about my old commission but asked if it could be a different drawing. [second try]

6/15/2012 – She responded back with confirmation of what I wanted and an apology. I was pretty optimistic at this point. Unfortunately, this was the last I've heard from her. [last response]

10/15/2012 – I sent her a note asking for progress. It was read but I didn't receive a response.

12/2/2012 – I sent another message, noting the lack of a response to the last one. It hasn't been read yet. [last note]

January or beginning of February I sent her an ask on tumblr about my commision. I didn't get a screenshot of it because I didn't think I'd need it. I never got a reply.

2/14/2013 – I shot her a tweet. [my tweet] But she, again, didn't respond. She has been active on twitter after my tweet but not before. [twitter]

2/18/2013 – I sent her an e-mail and it has yet to be replied to. [email]

I'm still willing to let it go, because this has been dragging on for almost 7 years. But I'm writing up this beware because she's obviously just outright ignoring me after supposedly wanting to make good. She doesn't seem to have that much of an online presence but her tumblr page says she's open for commissions. So buyer beware.

Are you expecting this person to try and contact you?

No, but I don't want to try and contact them about a commission lol.

I'm curious, what sites (other than facebook I think?) Prevent communication on your end towards a blocked person?

As long as their on my blocked list on any of these sites I know if I see them doing commissions under any of these names elsewhere not to commission them. o. O But that's to say if they ever return to attempt to take on commissions again.

I use my block list in a similar manner, also prevents bad would-be customers from contacting me.

You have patience of a saint. 7 years almost, that's just crazy long! Buyer beware indeed. I hope she comes to her senses and gets back to you!

Jesus, since July 2006? I was a dweeby kid back then... it's weird seeing incomplete commissions posted here into 2013 that should've been completed years and years ago.

I mean, that's nearly a decade to wait on a $40 commission. I suggest maybe trying to ask her politely for a refund and spend that $40 on another artist that won't rip you off like this; but since she never replies to your e-mails, the effort may be completely wasted.

Can I help?

Honestly, nobody should wait seven years for a commission. Very valid beware. I'd really like to do a request for you if you're interested, at no charge. Feel free to shoot me an email at thecreativepen13@gmail.com if you're interested. :)

7 years and nothing? Beware indeed. Makes me wonder how many more are waiting and if they are still waiting or have given up :C.

I think you hit a new artists_beware record! I've seen commissions that took 2, 3, and even 4 years until they got done, but 7? Yikes.

I have two that are fifteen years over due, but there's no point in even attempting a beware. For one, I assume the money is simply gone, my lesson learned, and two, sadly it was done in the late 90's face to face and I have no way to prove anything.

I managed to regain contact with one artist who claims he's willing to do the comm still. And of course it's been five months now since then, so I've been tempted to create a beware since I have some proof now via notes. He refuses to refund as well.

At the same time I'm not sure it's even worth it for something that damn old.

Even in cases where resolution is unlikely there is nothing to lose by posting a beware and it does have the purpose of being evidence that may save another person from being scammed.

Even without proof, or very little proof? I have some notes on FA and that's it.

It's a case by case thing. If the notes contain acknowledgement of the commission and that something has been paid for and is owed, then it may suffice.

:/ 7 years? Hell no. She has no business taking commissions.
