[identity profile] wolf-nymph.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] artists_beware
This post is about the online button company called shuu shuu buttons. If this is a repeat entry, go ahead and delete it. =3

I hesitated to post this because I bought several items from artists affiliated with this company, made through the company and I was very pleased. So, this has nothing to do with ANY of the artists who sold products of their work through shuu shuu buttons, it's about the website itself and it's services.

August 13th, I sent an email expressing interest in getting buttons made through them, because they have a "design your own" section where you send in your own art to be made into buttons. I wanted to sell these at a convention I'm going to in January, so I figure August would be plenty of time to get it settled.

No answer. I send another email on October 28th, asking the same thing. No answer again. On November 13th I sent my final email, and still no answer. I was going to link to their website for this entry, but now I find it's gone! I did find they have a deviantart page though, which is here: http://shuushuu.deviantart.com/

After reading the front page comments, it looks like the business collapsed and whoever was running it took off with a bunch of people's money. I just thought I'd put it here and share my experience with them as well. Thankfully, I didn't loose money, but others did. =(

I can't say I'm all too surprised about this. I didn't really like the company's front to begin with.

Although, if you're still looking for buttons to be made, I would suggest ModButtons (http://www.poseurink.com/modbuttons/index.html). I last worked with them about a year ago, but they were friendly, prompt, and accurate in their shipping time estimates (I ordered around the holidays). And their buttons are good quality as well. :)

I second using Modbuttons (and was just about to suggest 'em myself).

They're not only known for dealing with small artists (REALLY popular among the webcomics community, for starters), but they know how to do business.

This is helpful. I've seen their website and considered ordering some from these guys.

Huh, I guess it was lucky that they didn't accept my submission then. Personally, I use Busy Beaver Buttons http://busybeaver.net . They have nice quality, a quick turn around and are nice to deal with.

The creator of ShuuShuu buttons is Lindsay Campbell. I know not so very long ago, she hit some hard times in her life, but you might try getting in contact with her if you sent in any money (I think with everything that went on, she just forgot about ShuuShuu).

That's who this all stemmed from? Huh, I've watched her on dA for almost a year and had no idea. X) Maybe I should pay more attention.

In checking out her LJ it seems that she sold a lot of stuff on 2007-09-04, that being her last public post, one of the items sold was her button maker, so judging from that she's not into making buttons any longer.

Hard times had or no, she has a responsibility to tell people that she is no longer in business when money has changed hands. A quick post isn't that hard, neither is updating her shuushuu deviantart page - she's updated her personal DA page so its not like she can't access the button making one.

Some people are just really irresponsible.
