Sorry if this isn't really acceptable here. I don't really know if this is important enough to be here or not. :s

WHO: Novelteeth (on FurAffinity. Unaware of any other aliases at this time)

WHAT: About a year ago, I purchased an icon from Novelteeth. They had been holding an Icon Day where anyone could get one of their Bug Eyed Icons for free, but if you gave them money you were guaranteed an icon. I had given them $5, thinking i'd be guaranteed one of their icons because in the past they had always finished them.
Months went by and not a single icon was produced as far as I know (none of the icons were uploaded to her gallery), BUT, they did post a few journals stating they were being worked on and such. I never thought to screen capture these though since I trusted their word and figured they had a lot of icons to go through.
Today though, I had remembered I purchased the icon and realized just how long it had been. I went to look them up on FA and realized they had disabled their account.
Now, i don't know if they moved accounts or just got fed up, packed their bags and left, but I know for a fact there were other people like me who paid for their icons. I'm not concerned about my meager amount of money I gave them and in total they probably got a good $50 or so from the people who did pay, but money given and no art received when it's expected isn't really fair, no matter how small the amount is.

I have no screenshot proof of any of the journals or the fact that I paid them, and i'm not really warning anyone to stay away from this artist because I believe this was just a case of too many art projects on their plate but I just want to know if anyone knows what happened to them or if anyone here bought the icons from their Icon Day and if they ever got them.

I'm interested in seeing what others think or say about this topic, too. I've certainly fell for other artist's free icon/doodle days and tipped in advance to help meet "goals" :( It didn't occur to me that there could've been other people affected, but there sure is -- isn't there.

I'm talking about no more than $5 stuff. To clarify: In my case it wasn't this artist you mention.

To me, it's not really a "tip" the moment an artist is agreeing to provide art in return. It becomes a commission and should be treated as such =\. If an artist wants donations, it should be clear it's just that... promising "maybe" art just feels kinda misleading. I've seen this tactic used quite a few times, and I personally think it's way shady practice.

Replace 'user' with gallery, scraps, journals, etc. Only the front page is disabled. Everything else still works.

Hello, this is Novelteeth!

I've been slowly working on getting all of the paid ones done, unfortunately it ended up way too huge so I won't be getting to the free ones. The last paid one I completed a couple weeks ago was Modgey in the journal comments.

I'm not sure where you are on the list, but if you want to give me your username I can access your info from the journal comments, and do yours next.

I apologize for this taking unacceptably long, as you are correct, I was paid and I do intend to do the work. It is definitely true that I got overwhelmed, but I do not wish to run off with anyone's money, no matter the amount!

EDIT: I have re-enabled my account until I finish all the owed work. While I would rather have it disabled, contact to me should be easy to find while I still have owed work under that handle. I had thought leaving the journals up for 'hacking' the page would be enough, but it's not very considerate. I'm going to really push myself to get the final ones done soon! I also made a new journal so some people who are in your situation, wondering where I went, might be notified.

And it's okay, I really figured you just had gotten way to many icons and wasn't really able to get to them all. I'm not upset at you, just was a bit worried ^^;

Thank you for re-enabling your account. The disable feature is a real scare when you're trying to contact someone only to see there's no trace really left behind.

Okay, I found your comment! And it is understandable you'd be worried or even annoyed heh. I feel bad for them taking so long!

But yeah, having my page up until I finish them should help push me more, as well.
