Positive Feedback for October!
Oct. 1st, 2013 09:48 pmHappy October, folks!
If you've had a great commission experience, either as an artist or a customer, please comment here and spread the word. It doesn't have to be a full-on story, though you're welcome to type one! All we need are a few lines on why this person was so great to work with. You can also recommend companies, such as printers or fursuit-making teams, as long as it's relevant to artists!
There are plenty of reasons to post someone here: perhaps they went above and beyond the call of duty to fix a problem, or were so prompt with communication and payment it was like having them right next to you, or were very professional and courteous every time you contacted them.
To help keep things organized, please follow this simple form:
1. Name of the person you recommend (please also put this in the subject of your comment):
2. Link to person's website or art page:
3. Approximate time period of when you did business with this person:
4. Details (Here's where you tell us why they are so awesome! What made the transaction go so well? Perhaps link to the art or suit you bought/sold if you feel like sharing. Please mark NSFW if the subject matter is adult!!):
If you have multiple people to recommend, please put them in separate comments to keep things organized! Bring on your (spooky) reviews!

Nijipie

3. End of September, commissioned and received art within 24 hours
4. I saw Nijipie's ad and cute icons and decided to get some for myself and for my boyfriend. I was VERY pleased with how professional and quick Nijipie was, and they were awesome to work with. I also asked them to make a tiny edit and they did it without a hitch! I was so pleased with the outcome. My current icon is one of the commissions I received.

Date: 2013-10-03 01:36 am (UTC)After a lovely (not lovely) bunch of comments made by a mean guy, I thought a fun way to show that I didn't care what he thought of me would be to get a new icon. I thought this worked out great!

3. Early September
4. Mithril offered a special, themed Iron Artist round, and I couldn't resist. Her style is wonderfully detailed and very expressive. My piece was completed just a few days after the official start of the queue, as well. She's also very friendly but extremely professional, just an all around joy.

3. September
4. AsaHane reopened commissions in September, so I grabbed a sketch. I was extremely pleased with both the result and the quick turnaround. I gave her a character with only a text description and some real world references, and she produced an awesomely accurate picture. Her professionalism is also top notch.

3. Mid September.
4. Commissioned Dinobutt for a mini watercolor piece, which they had offered on Teenycom. They did a wonderful job and I got the commission very promptly! They did a perfect job with the character. I have worked with them before and they always do a lovely job.

3. The beginning of September - turn around was less than 5 days.
4. I loved monarobot's Mayan glyph style pokémon drawings, so when they opened up for icon commissions, I leapt at the chance. They were friendly, quick to reply and their turnaround was super quick, and I use the icon everywhere - as you can see!

4. Cbh is fast, friendly and professional. She did a perfect job with the characters and I couldn't be happier with the result! (http://i.imgur.com/sGL8Z7O.jpg) I had the same experience when I commissioned her a couple of years ago and highly recommend her. :)

3. Today! (2nd October 2013)
4. Ali had a journal up about chibi commissions she would be completing today. Anyone could post refs and she would pick who to draw. I've received art from her before in a timely fashion and so I posted references of one of my characters and was lucky enough to get picked. I'm super pleased with the chibi I got and the link is below if you'd like to see~

3. Around Sept 11.
4. I saw Tatugons ad on FA and really liked their sketchy/chibi/doodle style. Tatu is a Japanese fur so their English was a little off, but perfectly understandable and we were able to communicate well. I asked for a tiny edit and it was done quickly and without a fuss!

3. September 20th stream.
4. The way her streams work... is that everyone has until a certain time from when she announces the stream to email her 'applications' of what they want. She then draws a random person and they get the slot. This was the first time I made it to a stream and was the lucky one chosen! She drew quite fast and I am super happy with the result. She even gave me permission to color it on my own since I only asked for a clean sketch!

3. I first approached her to hash out details in mid-May. Things proceeded in earnest (with me paying and her beginning work) early August. She finished and uploaded the last piece to her gallery on September 10.
4. First off, let me explain the time lapses, if any of #3 sounded long to anyone: it took a while to figure out what we were doing before the commission started, because this was a commercial work-for-hire situation which was completely new to both of us. I wanted her to draw the chapter illustrations I planned to use in my novel, which I would then be selling, and neither of us had any experience with figuring out licensing or contracts or anything like that. In fact, part of the time spent was when I came to this very group to ask about it, then took the responses I received back to her, and we did even more figuring-out from there.
And the month between when work actually began and ended on the illustrations was because there were nine of them.
When all was said and done, here's what she created:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11349806/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11499430/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11511767/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11581358/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11582504/
Not only is the work stunningly gorgeous (and perfect for the novel--everything just looks so much better with these illustrations in place, now, seriously,) but every part of the commissioning experience was outstanding. She is clever, savvy, and knows enough to protect herself, and wasn't about to go do something as murky as semi-commercial indie novels or whatever without both of us doing our research, but at the same time she never came across as adversarial or mistrustful. Quite the opposite, in fact; she was friendly, kind, and incredibly supportive of my novel and of my creative vision in general. (Just read the comment she left me on that last piece, the portrait of me! <3) All this on top of being professional, excellent with keeping up communication during the process, and having a very quick turnaround pace once work actually began.

4: they somehow managed to create this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11744843/
a perfect recreation of what I saw in my mind, based on nothing but text. And only for 25$. (I tipped because they deserved it). but dang, that skill from text, and derpy text at that.
