(this is my first time making a post so sorry if its wrong)

Edit: http://puu.sh/59ik7.png I got my money back, but sadly there are still people that have been waiting for their commission for 2 months, which is one of my friends. I really wouldn't recommend commissioning them in the future since they act so poorely when it comes to being proffessional with handling commissions...

WHO: Spides

Where: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/spides/
http://manytiredeyes.tumblr.com/ (they have moved from this blog, I am not giving out their new one since it's a personal one.)

What: A digital bust of one of my characters

When: I sent the payment on September 20th 2013.

PROOF:

here are the notes between us

here is the payment

Explain:

I commissioned him on the 20th of september to help him with college. I felt like I was doing a good deed to help him. A month later, I still do not see my commission so I send him a note, http://puu.sh/56f3a.png he replies with this http://puu.sh/56f2u.png. Yes, me and my friend (which was above me on the list) was having some trouble with our friendship but that does not excuse my commission since I paid for my own of my own character, he could of easily put theirs on hold and did mine so I didn't have to wait for 2 months just to recieve it. He then made a post on his tumblr saying this http://puu.sh/56eIz.png. that was on the 20th of october. It has been 12 days now and still no sign of my commission.

Today I sent him a new note, asking for a refund. He has yet to open the note, but I know he is online right now since he is posting on his tumblr. http://puu.sh/56fe9.png http://puu.sh/56ffh.png

he has been posting his own personal art through out this month, and has not even shown me wips of the bust commission I paid for.

Just putting it out there but.. 2 months is not a long wait time for artwork, nor would waiting that long really be beware worthy, especially if no deadline was set.

I am glad you got your money back however.

I was thinking this myself - I'd be pretty surprised if someone was angry at me for a month's wait, but if the client wants a refund and they got it back, then all's well I spose!

I kinda agree and disagree...
Agree in that when there's no conversation of an expected timeline, it's impossible to say what each party had in mind.
Disagree in that I kinda think it should be standard to try to get art to someone before the paypal expiry window (45d) if that's how they're paying, just because that seems like a reasonable "default deadline" to me. Unless it's a really huge piece or there's some agreement otherwise, of course.

agreed, I get kinda twitchy if I haven't had much/reasonable update and the PP-date is about to expire. Offcourse if it's big piece, even more with tradiotional art - I'm happy with a line or two maybe every/every second week - just to stay in the loop.

Personally I try get stuff done within 2weeks to a month - but I only work one day of the week and have only had 1 comission at the time

Yeah like I can def get that, and if the paypal expiration date is something the person s worried about, it's def worth discussing.

I suppose just the fact that the beware is basically just because of a possible 2 month wait on an artist who is busy full time with school, and did all of 5 drawings since their last 3 completed commissions, (all of which appear to be quick doodles between work), doesn't seem so unreasonable it warrants a beware if that makes sense.

I guess I feel like if the deadline was feeling like it would be a problem then it should have been discussed with the artist first before posting a beware.

The post says they were posting personal art. No communication + the artist posting a ton of personal stuff is usually a bad sign.

From what I can see they posted all of 5 quick drawings since their last 3 completed commissions.

As I said above, for this circumstance, I guess I feel like that if the time was an issue it would have been worth talking to the artist about it first rather than posting a beware on a 1 month wait, especially since it seems the artist was not ignoring the commissioner at all and was quick to respond to anything they had to ask.

Posters here are not required to let the beware-ee know they are being put up here, that's all up to their own personal choice.
