UPDATE: While this post was waiting to be approved, Jeeves posted another update on Monday the 27th of January. Apparently his wiring got fried.
RESOLVED: Jeeves' Internet was restored February 18th.
This is the first time I've posted here, but it's not a beware (explained below). Posting here is not something I wanted to do, as I avoid drama like the plague, but I am frustrated with my experience with this writer. I feel like a real piece of crap for making this public, but I don't know how to handle this situation.
WHO: Jeevestheroo.
WHERE: Jeevestheroo on FA.
WHAT: A story worth £45.
WHEN: The commission was initiated November 12, 2013.
PROOF: See narrative, below.
EXPLAIN:
On November 12, 2013, Jeevestheroo posted a journal offering story commissions. He has a good reputation and is normally very good at keeping his customers informed as to the progress of their commissions.
I requested and paid for a story commission and was placed on his list of commissioners:

This journal, and the others in this post, remain visible on FA.
We were in regular contact, discussing the details of the commission, until the 23rd of November:

In his last message to me, he agreed to write a story from the plot outline I gave him (which was NSFW, so I won't post the whole thing):

When FA went down, I emailed him and gave him my address:

On December the 18th, Jeeves posted a journal in which he says his Internet has gone out:

He states that his ISP will send him a router after the holidays, which is reasonable.
Two days later, I send a message wondering if he has gotten a chance to start writing my story:

As seen in the image above, he has not read this message.
Christmas passes.
Another journal appears on the 28th of December:

The new year arrives.
His last journal appeared on January 10th:

Two days ago on his public Twitter, he said that his commissioners' stories were finished, but that he had been unable to send them:

Because he has not posted any new work and because he has a good track record, I'm inclined to believe he has finished the commissions, which is why this post is not a beware. However, I do feel that Jeeves has allowed his Internet outage to continue for an unacceptably long time without sufficient explanation, which is why I am frustrated and asking for advice on what to do. Is there anything I can do besides wait and see? Or, am I really being a piece of crap (in which case, I apologise).

Date: 2014-01-31 10:40 am (UTC)I -just- got an intermittent disconnect issue resolved. Fortunately, with my history as a tech support agent and the fact I've been working with computers since age five (but am woefully out of date on my intel when it comes to hardware and coding nowadays beyond -fixing- stuff) it only took five months. I was able to rule out all the hardware connecting wirelessly and via hardline to my router, so it was on their end. First time a tech was sent out, they had to replace some wires a beaver gnawed on a half-mile away. I kid you not, it was a beaver. Then it was the actual router. It was difficult to resolve because there was no predictable pattern to it.
Sometimes it takes five minutes to resolve an internet problem, sometimes it takes 6+ months as they basically play whack-a-mole to find the precise cause of the problem. Sometimes a broken router will look like the networking card in the computer went out. Sometimes a fried wire will look like the wall wiring shorted. Sometimes they can replace everything but the cables going between the router, wall, and computer and -that- ends up being the problem. Networking issues are hairy.
If it is in fact this guy's wall, that's going to require rewiring, which is a whole new task in and of itself that will delay receipt. I'd hazard a guess that he's connecting to these sites via a smartphone to post updates, too, but even if he's using a library computer, there's a really good chance he can't use a flash drive to get the stories to the people they belong to. Some libraries don't allow removable media because they can be used to upload viruses. There's also the chance that he simply doesn't have one. So all in all, there -are- a lot of good reasons for him to be delayed.
It's also plausible that he wants to transmit them in digital format in order to avoid the embarrassing possibility of someone else getting your snailmailed hardcopy, beyond whatever postage charges may be in effect.
Hope this infodump helps you! Good luck. :)

Date: 2014-02-01 12:55 pm (UTC)I could never see him trying to pull a fast one on somebody and not write for them.
Writing is his life, he loves it and I've always seen him be very enthusiastic when it came to writing stories for people.
I know he has had major issues with his internet for the past wee while, so don't lose hope in him :) you'll get your commission!
