WHEN: Paid on 31 Oct 2013, agreed to be completed by and delivered at MFF 2013.

EXPLAIN:


I contacted Kipper to get a badge done as a surprise for a friend of mine on 31 October 2013, for the friend to be able to wear with his new suit at MFF:


Kipper gave the price, offered to deliver at the con, and I gave the description/references (hidden, as the badge is hopefully still going to be a surprise):


So, I PayPal'd him the price the same day:


At MFF, I went to pick it up and found that he wasn't at his Dealers' Den table at the con, so I messaged him via FA note to try to meet up and get the art at the con:


He didn't offer that, but he offered to ship it to my home address, which I agreed to:


After a month without having received it, I messaged him again to inquire and he told me he'd send it out:


A month later I still had not received the badge, and once again messaged him to inquire:


It has been over two weeks since this last note, with FA indicating the note was read, and without a response. His offer to mail the badge on 26 November implied to me that it was already completed, and so I'm not sure why simply dropping it in the mailbox would've been a problem.





UPDATE 07 March: The badge was received, so everything's good now. I consider everything resolved. It's still a surprise gift so I won't post the image, but it arrived fairly quickly after the post. Thanks a bunch!

Did he draw it? If he doesn't want to send the original, he can send you a big scanned image good for printing at least.

I'd honestly be really upset if I paid for a physical badge and got a scan, leaving me to do everything myself and having to pay for printing/laminating. It may not be much, but I'd expect that price to be added to the commission, so it's pretty much paying twice for it. It also usually looks really different from the original, the colours not looking all that great. Some people have great scanners/skills and editing skills, but you don't see it that often, I find.

It's certainly better then nothing, but I'd still consider it a beware.

I totally agree with you! But I had a situation (with another artist): artist told me that she would mail badges asap, and she even didn't draw them. So in case artist doesn't show scans and tells he/she will mail drawings soon, it's better to ask if he ever drew them.

I'd first like to apologize for not getting back to you. I have been extremely busy lately trying to get everything I have caught up. This one did slip through the cracks and for that I am sorry. I will have this shipped to you tomorrow with a tracking number sent to you in a note. I know it's no excuse but I am trying really hard to have everyone caught up. I've finished 4 suits and countless art pieces in the past two months trying to get everyone up to date.

Again, I'm really sorry about this, but I will provide you tracking info for it tomorrow.

Just to update this, the badge was shipped last Thursday and according to the USPS tracking number was delivered yesterday. Noted fmephit but haven't heard back yet.
