WHAT: A two piece image set that cost me 20$, in digital art form

WHEN: I sent her the money March 9th, 2013

PROOF: Here is the image where she agreed to it, and gave me her paypal. I blanked out the commission details as well as her email. http://i.imgur.com/VAP9iMX.png

EXPLAIN: I saw this artist while browsing FA and decided I could commission her because I liked her art, and she was struggling with things at the time. So I sent her 20$ (I was not the only one, as she was having a "sale") and I waited and waited and waited. I did not contact her clear until April. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

So it's been roughly a year now and she must have long since forgotten about me, because I have since seen no notes from her. I never saw anyone else get their art either, with one exception I think. I am also not in her commissions list either, and she continues to push everything off because she has issues. Well, we all have issues, and I can be caring and understanding until I think I am being cheated. I think she uses her mood swings to excuse herself from doing work she was paid for. I don't expect to get the art from her now, but I want to warn people not to commission her.

Obviously by her most recent journal, and the number of shouts asking for work, etc; there is zero intention to finish owed work.

Also I noticed that they asked you to pay as gift. I don't care if their art was the best gosh darned thing since green tea ice cream; you never pay for a product/service as "gift". Ever. The "gift" option is for things like donations and other NON transaction-type things.

You also cannot ASK for a "gift" back, which means you're up a creek getting your money back over this.

If anyone ever tries to charge you for a commission and asks you to pay via any type of "gift" option; say thanks but no thanks you do NOT purchase from individuals who try to buck Paypal's system.

Yeah, I've since figured a lot of this out. I've done many commissions since this one, so I learned a lot. I've never dealt with someone like this though.

The only thing I can do is show her this, and maybe she will reevaluate her flagrant commission taking.

Posts on Artists_Beware are not allowed to be deleted. Honestly, this beware is pretty valid. Commissioners should not have to track you down on new accounts. It is your responsibility to keep your customers up to date, and if you take money you need to produce the art in a reasonable amount of time or refund it.

... what everyone else said above. The original poster + moderators can however mark this community entry as "Resolved" after you've refunded the OP, depending on their response afterwards.

However it is comments like this that kind of reflect a negative attitude toward your customers and how you handle them during a conflict of communication. I know you're probably frustrated being posted here on a_b , but rest assured it's not the end of the world.

You don't need to be a part of the community, ( Granted you being posted in an entry already makes you a part of this community ) you should still respect the rules of this community when commissioners / artists / watchers work really hard to maintain civility and integrity in a safe location "[...]to voice positive or difficult experiences with commissioners or artists". Saying fuck you too to commentary also isn't going to help anyone.

I really mean you no disrespect at all. In fact I bet you're probably a really nice person. But coming to this community and making brash comments on a post about bad communication is not going to go over well at all. It's okay to write your side of the situation. But maybe you should take a moment of relaxation and respond when you're more clear headed.

Well, you should. If you are going to take money in exchange for services you should be ready to conduct yourself professionally, even when someone is issuing a beware on you. If you'd come and apologized, and rectified the situation, it would have made you look really good, rather than the way you have responded.

Seems beware was warranted with how you respond. I know this stuff can be stressful, but keeping a good attitude with it all can be the difference between a proper resolved post, showing an artist can handle it when things don't go right, or if they can't handle the pressure/stress, yeah..

Oh wow. I had no idea that she had left me a comment after all the major deletions addressing: her being close to tears, not wanting to be a part of the fandom, or having an entire year of pain.

Agreed, it was far from professional to go off on the commissioner looking for clarity. I just have a succinct hunch that she probably had a good apology/explanation/side of the story to tie up the miscommunication. Unfortunately none of that really came out as a productive response.
