WHAT: He had opened up a commission journal for theme commissions. He had a wonderful style and the price was rather good, so I decided to get a couple. As with most times, I used the note system with it - here those are with only the description cut out of each (as it isn't necessary)

WHEN: The journal was posted in late July I believe. All of my notes and things starting the process (including payment) happened on August 1st as documented in the images. I gave it a while; I wasn't in any rush and I know folks have lives beyond furry.

The real start for concern, however, was when he posted about being hacked on January 13 - http://i.imgur.com/rgc4CKx.jpg - and he was moving to a new account because of it.

EXPLAIN: Expanding on the ~when~, I noted his new account. http://i.imgur.com/Z5aq99N.png to which he read it, but never responded. After a few weeks, I was getting tired of things, so I decided to just ask for a refund. http://i.imgur.com/CL1XWa5.png He never read this note, however. (http://i.imgur.com/AQAESjI.jpg) He posted that his new account had been hacked as well and said he moved to weasyl, which I sent a note there as well (no screenshot, but will provide if interested. It said the same thing as the refund note).

Some days before (and also another reason I was looking for a refund), he posted a journal saying he was selling his characters - http://i.imgur.com/pUaF2DL.png - on his 'hacked' accounts. He apparently sold one to someone, I don't have a screenshot of this since the page was disabled before I thought of it. However, there was no more action on his weasyl or FAs for a couple of months.

Then, this journal happens suddenly in the beginning of March - http://i.imgur.com/9nwup8J.png - which perplexes people since, again, his account was supposedly hacked. With some glimmer of hope, though, I send an e-mail (again, no screenshot, but can provide if needed) asking the same thing as my notes, for a refund. There was, again, no reply to it nor to anyone else's request, I suppose. The shouts on his primary FA got plenty of callouts for owed art/money/running away to which this happens - http://i.imgur.com/9yQ8gWD.jpg - where some people (unsure if just close friends or him under a different account) spam the page to remove all of the evidence. Those two posts up top were there for a couple of days, then he ended up disabling the page as well.

And that is the whole tale from my point of view. I am sure my money is gone for good along with many other's, but I wanted to have some evidence in case he ever returns. Thank you for reading.

His request to send the payment as a gift (and without any notice!) was a really huge beware.

Definitely scammery to ask for it as a gift as you can't file a chargeback on it.

Eh, I have had several artists use it before to skip out on fees and things with no troubles. Guess I ran into a bad time this one!

Well, I phrased that wrong somewhat, I suppose. The sender pays the fee instead of the receiver when it is a gift. That's always been my take on it, anyways.

I always have people send as services rendered, and have the fee taken from the commission profit. I never, ever ask someone to send extra. If an artist does, I cancel my commission immediately and take my business elsewhere.

As per Paypal ToS the fees are the responsibility of the seller. They're a part of running a business and you should never pay them. It removes any and all protection from you as the buyer. If your issues with an artist happened to fall within the timeframe to file a dispute, Paypal would automatically side in the artist's favor because it was a "gift".

I also got scammed too, i won a raffle in august 2013 from him and waited for it, at the end he said he got hacked trough notes and said would finish before he leaves. That never happened, he read the notes but never responded.







I left his friend a shout ( which got deleted after ) with a warning and this is what i got from the user:

-If you are his friend, it would be nice to know that RIGHT AWAY for everybody who requested art for money or other goods, because people go trought scamming often in here, and its not a thing you should take easily, it many times ended in court trial or even prison time, for fraud of not completing the service that was contracted. But its too late, people already "believe" that they got scammed, and its not just one-two people, it is several and it had been reported. Like leaving a message about his issue in his page instead of flooding with messages to hide the people's cry. And iy is not something to be taken in private, if its not a fraud, let a PUBLIC message in his page then so everybody can see what is actually going on, I have many circle of individuals talking about this topic. If there is nothing to hide that is a fraud, show it then, people got desperate already, they need an answer, leaving then in ignorance will only do worse to your friend's reputation. Trust me, I've seen it before, and it will end bad for him if nothing is going to be done about his frustrated customers. (Im tecnically one of them because winning a prize from him and leaving me with nothing, is equal to a lie, i dont like liars). Im going to look if this is going to be fixed because ive dealt with fraudeus people here before, and admins are on my side about it.

I'm not a real life friend so I can't just show up to his place? I have to say, I actually disagree with you here. Association/friendship with an artist shouldn't automatically obligate one to deal with that person's business transactions. Your issue is with the pnine, not their friend, and I too would hide call-out comments on my page if they had nothing to do with me, simply because it's bringing drama to a place where it's unwelcome.

I think what they are saying is that the friends got involved when they spammed the artist's page to hide comments like in the last image in my journal post. I can agree with callout comments on their own page, but answering a note about their actions hiding their friend's own poor choices is called for, I believe, since they took the effort to hide things on said friend's page.
