I'm so sorry, I know you've had a bad month - so have I. But there's something you've really got to remember, especially for the future - this is business. You cannot let your personal feelings get involved in business and having a bad month isn't an excuse. The person you're commissioning from is just as infallible as you and I; I'm not too positive if you had a set deadline for the artist? Set deadlines always help keep everyone organized, so yes, totally suggesting that!
You say you're learning from this, and that's awesome! Take the experiences and what we're saying here and use them for any future commissions, it'll help you a lot.
