Dont know what to do!

I just don't know what to do on my Oakpaw commission. Nearly half a year, or a year has gone by on the post that I did before on here. I got one successful reply from her after I e-mailed her, and that is all. She said she would finish it by Christmas. Still no word, and its nearly 4 months since then. So it was purchased on Oct. of 05, its now April of 08. In her message she said let me "dig it up". ...Right...

Sorry I am just angry and frustrated. I just don't know what is the right thing to do. I want my money back, but I also want this commission.

I'd demand a refund and commission another artist that isn't going to impose a three year waiting period. Freaking A.

Well she's not updated her vcl in over a year it looks like if I've got the right oakpaw, unfortunately this may mean she's gone offline for good. I hate to say it but at this point you might have to write it off as a lesson learned. I know it's a royal pain in the ass to be let down by an artist like that but it happens sometimes.

I must say I have seen artists take a year or more for commissions, I myself have commissions from December that I still havn't finished. But if she's broken off communication, then yea that's worrisome :/ I would ask for money back, but she's not replying, so that's a lost cause. Good luck!

Didn't Oakpaw 'leave the fandom forever' in favor of doing web design and stuff? I can't imagine she's jumping to finish an animal commission now.

Keep at it, can't hurt to drop emails once in awhile.

I don't think you are going to see your commision at all frankly. I'd ask for a refund.

Woah...Oakpaw? That sure is a blast from the past. yeah I don't think you'll be seeing your commission. Not because she's not a stand up person, but merely because her online presence is like...less than zero for what, a couple years now? I doubt she checks fandom matters much if at all anymore.

This is a very, very hesitant "if", but I happen to go to the university she went to and my Illustration professor taught/knew her. I could ask him if he's kept in touch with her recently or knows a better way to get a hold of her.

Again, there are no guarantees since I don't know when he's seen her last, but if you want I'd be happy to ask him about it. I'm sure he wouldn't approve of this sort of behavior, that's for sure.

I sadly don't think you'll see your commission or your money. I'd insist on her paying you back, but from the sounds of things she has no reason to 'save her reputation' with this fandom.
Go for another commissioner who's far more active and has a clean record for getting work done, and promptly.
