WHO: Naomy.

WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/naomy/

WHAT: Three iron artist slots for the month of september

WHEN: August 20th up until the current date.

PROOF: Down below.

EXPLAIN: On August 20th I noticed Naomy had opened for iron artist slots for the month of September. She sells them for a reasonable price so they sell like hotcakes so I jumped on the opportunity and ordered 3 slots.

Note proving I ordered and paid: http://i.imgur.com/BOYcTmw.png

I was slot number 7, 8 and 9 so I expected to get them within the first week or two of September and when I didn't I thought maybe she would upload all of them at once at the end of September so I did not worry.

September 25th
She posted a journal saying she would be finishing all of the remaining slots this weekend and they would be posted soon and that if anyone wanted changes she would not be able to do them because she has most of them finished already.
Journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6143034/

October 8th
She wasn't heard from again until today stating once again that she would be submitting all of the pics but to be patient because there was over 100 to submit and that she would be opening again after everything was submitted.
A lot of people in the comments told her that wasn't a good idea because furaffinity has in their TOS "1.11 - Do not flood. Flooding is when you upload more than 10 submissions or 5 journals in a 24 hour period. "
Journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6179922/

October 10th
She posted that because of the said upload limit that she would only upload 10 to 20 per day so she doesn't flood furaffinity and get in trouble and if she skips your slot not to worry because she's not doing them in slot order.

Did not hear from her besides the occasional pic posting. ( She posted about 9 per week instead of 10-20 per day ) so on October 28th I posted a comment on her journal asking her if everything was okay because she didn't upload things

like she said she would.

November 2nd
She posted a journal stating that she has been busy with studies and work and that she would start posting a few before she went to bed and submit some more when she woke up.
On this journal many of us suggested since she had stated that they where all done that she could just upload them all to a stash or dropbox so we could get our art without abusing the upload limit. She replied saying that she didn't

think it was right to the commissioners to have to dig through all of those files and we all assured her that we would rather have to dig through for a couple of minutes instead of waiting days for our art.
Others have also stated that they have been waiting on their slots from OTHER Iron artist months. So it wasn't only just september's slots being prolonged. She later posting ANOTHER journal saying that she would upload 10 images and

then try the dropbox option in the morning.

November 7th
No one had heard from her and I was becomming irritated and said I honestly didn't believe that she had the work done because she was delaying giving us a dropbox link. This was bad on my part to be honest but I wasn't the only

irritated one.

November 10th
She uploaded a few pieces of art before uploading a personal vent piece along with a journal stating "Hello, I wanted to inform you that in a few hours i submit more pics, and tell them sorry, but I got to be around here I'm not very

good spirits I do not want to fail you, because you are the only ones I have not failed to me this year, I promise to finish it all in a week sorry"

It's November 30th and she hasn't been online since. Other impatient commissioners have been writing shouts some stating they've been waiting 4-5 months.

I would not ever recommend commissioning this woman, she seems to not be ready to take commissions in this amount at a time or even at all for that matter.

Well this is just disappointing. I've been meaning to buy some art from her, but decided not to now. -watch

Sorry about all of this, OP. Beware warranted.

Another case of someone severely undercharging and becoming overwhelmed as a result. Nothing 'reasonable' about her prices, they're completely unreasonable, and unfair to her. When will artists learn that this is only going to cause them to become overwhelmed by work that they are being paid so far under min. wage for it's ludicrous?!

I never said she should be off the hook, just the reasoning behind why this occurs is because of the so called "competitive" nature of the furry art circuit. People shouldn't be offering things cheaper so that "some people" can afford it- art isn't a necessity, it's a luxury. If you can't afford to pay for it, then you shouldn't be buying it.

Artists who price so low like this aren't just hurting themselves, they are hurting other artists too. There are people who would be happy to pay actually reasonable prices for artwork, but because they can get it cheaper, they go for that, making it hard for many of us to make a living.

Thirding this; not saying the artist isn't in the wrong here, but I can't help feeling a little grossed out by OPs reaction to your comment.

I don't think there's anything to be "grossed out" by. She's got $800 of people's money. That's plenty enough for her to act like a professional, even if each individual commission was cheap.

I can't imagine what there is to be grossed out about.

No one forced the artist to price their art so low. They did so to be competitive- as soon as their slots filled so quickly, but the art was taking longer than expected the FIRST month she offered the slots at that price the artist should have reevaluated their prices.

If you run a business by yourself you have to be responsible for your pricing and time management. Doing so to the tune of $800 is not a one time mistake, or getting "overwhelmed". This happened over several months based on comments in this thread and OP's evidence. That's plenty of time to decide to take less work, or up prices.
What happened here is choosing to to be irresponsible by not managing price and time properly, which has resulted in taking other people's money with no product delivered. That's not okay.

The artist could fix this easily with offering refunds to all waiting, taking time to finish the work already sketched, and then reopening with raised prices that mean she can make ends meet but also delivery in a timely way.

No should feel bad because someone decided to start a business and screwed it up to the tune of $800 worth of other people's money being taken with nothing to show for it.
The artist may not have intended to steal the money, or to do a bail and run scam, they probably are a generally good person who usually is trustworthy but they screwed up here, and rather than nip the problem in the bud they chose to keep opening slots and taking more money.
After the first month, or two, of not being able to get the previous month's slots finished in time new slots should not have been opened. They decided to keep opening anyways. They could has switched to payment on delivery, no more issue of taking money with no delivery, or half to hold a spot and half on completion- at least that would be less money missing.
They could have cancelled all unstarted commissions, refunded and then reopened with higher prices/less spots.

They kept opening spots and kept taking money knowing they owed a significant queue of old work. That's not a mistake.

Okay, this has gone a little off track. Gonna rein this in.

I commissioned this artist on June 8th for three slots. She didn't even read my post correctly and only gave me one which we had to put all the characters together. The piece was not finished until October 11th.

I knew by just checking her openings vs. her uploads I was going to be in for a long wait but I really had no reason to be angry due to the price I paid for the work. She gets the work done eventually, while yes her wait times are long I've seen worse and experienced worse before and had more invested. But tbh you can see the huge wait times If you'd look at her gallery and check which months she's currently uploading vs. the commission slots she has open at the time. Which is usually a three to four month difference.

I'm glad you were able to be patient, but I would have to disagree about having no reason to be angry. Whether it's $200 or $2, if you pay for a service, you should get what you paid for, in my opinion. And having a long wait time isn't a big deal so long as the artist keeps communication with his or her clients about the wait times upon commissioning and sticks to deadlines they place for themselves.

I think the main issue here is the number of times they have failed to meet deadlines explained with excuses and the lack of proper communication. OP should not have to guess how long it's going to take for their artwork to be done, it should have been done and uploaded when the artist said it would. Getting work done 'eventually' isn't good enough in my book. But this is just me!

Based on her uploads she's still working on the openings from this journal here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5935604/ so the July or August spots and it seems she's around the 36 or 37th spot. Not sure if this helps you any but it's what I used to keep track of when I was waiting for my commission to get finished.

Edited to add the correct link.

I've been waiting on these, too.

I initially commissioned her earlier in the year, several times in fact and had no issue with her then, so I returned to her for some more. I'm currently waiting on four images from her. Which is a shame, because as I said, I've commissioned her before, and she did them in a timely and appropriate manner. :/

I really hope people don't think of commissioning her again. If she had all these 200 some pictures done she should have uploaded them all already. Instead her asking for references seem fishy. Seems to me like she hasn't even done any but the one's she's linked in the dropbox.

Just wanted to add this, after asking if pics were done, she contacted me saying she doesn't see my pieces anywhere.

After several months of saying all art is done she just needs to upload them she has in fact not done the work she was paid for. Both my wife and I are awaiting 5 pieces altogether.

I tried to be a calm and civil as I could through notes but she acts like we're the ones who has taken her money and haven't given anything back.

Personally I think this Artist beware should stay up. Cuz I'm sure she'll pull the same BS she's been pulling for the last several months.

WEll I did make an artist-beware, but since the admins deemed the fact that she has put out piece, they cancelled my beware, which is BS considering I'm still waiting on pieces.

I am looking at your rejected post right now (we record these things) and the reason you were given. Please do not be dishonest about why it was rejected to people.

You were asked to provide more proof to your post, to check if your piece had been completed and to update the post to reflect if that was the case if/when you resubmit. You are still free to do so and resubmit.

Hello, I was one of the two moderators working on you post. That is not what we were asking of you. She made an update; we simply want to know if your work is included in that update or not. If it isn't, please include that in your resubmit. Nowhere in our rejection notice did we say your post was invalid. It certainly is not. We record all rejection notices to our moderation community.

I've pretty much typed out what your rejection notice said. Not once did we state your post was invalid for any reason. Please read over your rejection notice again.

We require two items:
1. Proof of transaction and more information about what you ordered.
2. Whether you are still owed work despite the update.

If you need further assistance you're free to PM one of us.
