If possible, check the friends list. If that doesn't work, write carefully and delete anything with that person's name on it you get in your inbox.

Write your warning in the least offensive way possible, and invite the person you are writing about to come out and defend themselves? ooor maybe email that person and let them know they need to explain themselves or else you are going to post a warning about them? ^^;

Grow a pair and say it anyway.

Seriously. If it's something important enough that others should know about it, say something. If they have a problem with it they will step up and say something in their defense, if there is anything /too/ say. It has happened before and it will keep on like that. If for any stupid reason they harassed you outside of this forum [but still on LJ] you could get them deleted for abuse. If they harassed you over e-mails, save those e-mails and forward them to their web host with a complaint. If it is a RL friend?

Well if the crime was bad enough maybe they shouldn't be.
