Maly....

Alright, I have just about had it with [livejournal.com profile] malytwotails (Jana Hill). It has been since March that I paid her around $40 (five extra for a rush job, too) to create a custom hat. It is now the end of November, and I (along with many other people as well) have not been shipped what I paid for, even though the product has been finished since the month it was commissioned.

Now, I do realize that Maly had some problems around the time these goods she owes people were commissioned. But it really pisses me off because she has replied to none of my emails since the product was finished, and just simply refuses to send or finish any of these hats she was commissioned to create. I could understand if she was in the hospital or completely unable to finish what people payed her for, but I have found some things in journals of others who she has contact with, and frankly, I feel she could have sent what she owes. Here are a few examples:

"Maly and I are going to check out the Gargoyles inthe U-district, head north (I got to pick up some things at my mom's), and prolly just diddle-fart around until Simon's show tonight."

"Maly was most awesome enough to make me a cool tail in which I admit I wore around" (Conifur '05)

A comment from Maly: "I got a tattoo!"

....There is a lot more than that, but this should give you a general idea. Apparently, she has the transportation, the money to get a tattoo and to go to a convention, not to mention make a tail for someone, and time to 'diddle-fart' around, but no time to make and ship hats that she has owned people since January and up (I even piad extra to get my hat by a ceratin date!). It hurts me, because I know that I (and others) have been ripped out of my money, and ignored. I'm not sure what to do at this point...

So...until Maly ships or refunds what she owes, I am going to leave this up and suggest no one commission [livejournal.com profile] malytwotails. She was given too many chances already, and this is just the last straw.

Man. I'm surprised this is still an issue. :( it's hard to get in touch with her, huh?

I mean, if she could just issue some refunds that'd tie up loose ends nicely. :/ is this just laziness on her part?

Hi there, did you ever get your hat?

That is sad. I used to talk to Maly and I thought she was nice... hmm. Two nights ago I spoke to Hida on MSN, and he talked to her THAT NIGHT... he is going to try and ask her about "the hat issues" but I am not sure if anything will come of it.

Its too bad when people "let themselves go"... really hurts us and them.

Aww damn. Her hats are so amazing, and I was planning on getting one for myself and my mate. Sure as hell not going to after hearing similar stories like this one time and time again. :/
I do hope you do get your hat, or a refund or something-- because that just isnt right. :/

I know Jadewolf got her hat about a month ago. In her journal though, she said Wicked Sairah sent it to her.

This is true. [livejournal.com profile] thornwolf as well.
[livejournal.com profile] wicked_sairah lived in the area near Maly and picked up both Jade and Thorn's hats, and mailed them off to them (went to the post office with her to do it, so this isn't hearsay!)

Had Sairah not taken the time and effort out of the kindness of her heart to do this, both Thornwolf and Jadewolf would STILL be without their paid-for hats. :(

Maly, if you can hear this, you've GOT to get those hats out. Enough is enough, you need to take responsibility and FOLLOW UP!

In the meantime, I cannot endorse Maly's business to anyone. I can see some delays (I get delayed in commissions all the time, crap happens), but we're talking way more than just a few months or even 6 months.

And this is just to SHIP FINISHED HATS. I mean, most of the hats are DONE. Just ship 'em already!

No kidding. If you have the money and time to fart around and get tattoos, how hard is it to stuff a hat in an envelope and take it to the post office? Even to just save people from getting more and more frustrated with her. It only seems to get worse.

I'm not sure. Sairah picked the hats up. I just went with her to the Post Office. I was visiting her at the time, and we both needed to mail stuff off. I'd go and get the hats for you if I was local, but I'm in Utah.

I could see if Sairah would be willing to try to get some more hats from Maly and work out a deal with you to mail them. She's going through a lot right now, and I am not sure if she'll be able to.

On the same hand, if she keeps bailing Maly out like this...will Maly learn from this experience?

She wouldn't even let me commission one. Guess I am glad about that now.

I really wanted a hat from her too. I had been fan girling her and matrices since I met them at Conifur last year. It is really disappointing to hear this about her...

I commissioned a hat of my own from her earlier this year. she said she would have it finished in time for AnthroCon, and she did, but did not ship it out to me. in fact, I still haven't recieved it. I try and catch her on AIM, but if she's even on at all, it will be for a spit second before she signs off again. I have given up trying to contact her, and I guess all I can do now is wait. I was offered a refund at one point, and now I'm wishing I would have taken it... but what would be the chances that I would even get that? but of course I'd rather just have the hat I payed $40-some-odd dollars for.

Sounds like she's signing on and going invisible. You can tell by IMing her after she blips on. If you don't get the 'unavailable' message, she's on and just invisible.

Oh, and if she's invisible, she will still see your messages unless she's blocked you.

Wish I had time to just diddle-fart around.

It's one thing if her friends are buying her the Con trips and the tattoo and all, but if she has spent a cent of her own money on anything other than basic food-shelter-survival while hats go unmade/unshipped, that is.. a shame.

If she wants to get out of the hat business, that's fine, nobody has a problem with that. That doesn't excuse her obligations to those who have already paid and now are legally owed a product. She should be grateful as to just how tolerant everyone has been up to this point.

Alrighty here we go. I commissioned a hat from her before last winter; I got it. I later commissioned a hat for my boyfriend..she said "it's on the board and it's next to be made". I was patient (sp) and I waited..I emailed her a few times, asking for updates..nothing. Over the summer I wrote her a HAND WRITTEN letter..i got nothing back in response..it has came to a legal issue from what I heard around DA..but this of course is insane and if she has time and THE MONEY to go and get a tattoo and go to Cons..she has a problem...as we all understand, she was in the hospital..and blah blah blah..I paid $35. I want either my hat, or my money.

God now I feel greedy x_x

Eh, I dunno..I mean, we had talked for a while..talking about how we would meet up somewhere (cause I live about 2 hours away from her) and hang out..how our family issues were about the same..and what not..but then I got my 1st hat..I fell in love with it..slept with it..yadda yadda yadda..then my boyfriend wanted one..so I went to her to buy one..sent money..talked to her a few weeks later..she said it was ready to be made..felt satisfied with that..went on my vacation..then some chick at DA told me that she wanted to get together people who commissioned..and of course, I was one..and just yea..I mean, I understand commissions can sometimes get held up (I have the same problem)..and I understand that she was "in the hospital" but gah..this has gone back to what, 2 years+ ago..and it's insane..I've written a letter..written emails..written IMs..talked to people..and the such..but meh..my boyfriend is still upset and such..

If there is ANYONE who is willing to run over to her little house and pick up my boyfriend's hat, I'm willing to pay for shipping..it't no problem for me, and I'm willing to repay in some odd way..(maybe a get-together for lunch or something =3)

If you wanna talk..email me at hedwig725 @ yahoo . com (no spaces)
or IM me at Madhatterinaru (AIM)

If I still had her phone number i'd give it to you, but I don't. :{ Im definetly not going through what I had to do to get my hat again. I literally was calling information for about two hours and trying to track down her phone number based on the addresses/towns she had posted online. No luck, all the numbers were old and now belonged to someone else. I tried e-mailing her friends, they refused. One of my friends gave me Matrice's number and I tried getting it from her, but she said she didn't have the number either. In the end Maly posted in my livejournal with her number and everything, and we got it resolved like that.

I feel like I went a bit overboard, but I really wanted my hat. I do believe it's ridiculous whats going on now, it seems to be getting worse and worse. I wish I could offer more help. :/ Perhaps someone would be willing to pick them up from her and mail them out.

She used to post her hats on a my little pony forum, and months and months ago, she said she quits doing them for good. If she wont refund, the only thing I can think of to do is to seek legal action of some type to get refunded. =/ I used to want one of her hats really badly too.

hey everyone, ena here.

I was just seeing if maly was still doing hat commissions, I asked her about a year ago but never got a reply.
I'm glad I found this though, at least I know i'm not the only one.
I hope you guys all get your hats or money back. This sounds pretty serious.

Maybe I should just make my own hat, I mean I make clothes all the time, a hat should be a doddle but I need to kow would I be done for art theft or anything if I made a hat with ears and stuff a bit like how maly makes them?
Hats with ears have been around for a long time right, they appear in anime and manga quite frequently and i'm sure i've seen them in many other places too.

Do you think it would be okay to make one? Please let me know.

ena

I have also been extremely patient with Maly (up til now), who owes me $80, but I keep reading about her attending cons and buying things for herself rather than refunding all those people she owes. If she can't make the hats due to whatever personal reason, that's fine, but she shouldn't have taken payment for them and then spent all that money, refusing to refund--or even bother to reply to--all her commissioners. There is simply NO excuse for this, which is actually criminal behavior.

If it is indeed criminal thieft to take your money on a commission and then not deliver within a timeframe either morally/ethically acceptable or in the time approximated in the contacts/Furbid auction, is there anyway to get the law involved and legally get it out of her mitts? It's not like she doesn't have the money if she's getting tattooed and flaunting it at a convention!

jurann, i would say that in this instance, profanity and aggression is not the answer, and will only make things worse :-P

obviously you know i love my maly. but these people have every right to be upset, and you calling them stupid fuckers clearly does not help.

If you loved your maly, you would push her to do the right thing, give these people what they paid for.
