And commissioners as well...

I hope this is allowed....
I am trying to compile a list of things people have said to artists and commissioners that have a negative view/stance on various subjects surrounding art. Mediums, pricing, marketing, art itself, methods, etc.  Anything and everything, even if it seems minor. What arguments have you seen out there?
Please number/point if you have more than one to share.

Examples of what I'm looking for:
-Digital is worth more than traditional.
-Art isn't a real job. (Everyone knows this one)
-Digital art is cheating.
-Patreon is a scam/paywall.

Variations on the same thing and details are welcome because sometimes it can add another dynamic to the opinion that must also be tackled.

Oh boy, I love when people tell me that. Non-artists(particularly older adults) love to tell me to "just work for Disney" when they learn I have an animation degree. Just walk in to Disney and get you a job! Who knew it was that easy?

I dont have any background in animation, I would like to work on learning it... but I dont know jack about it.. But I have also had many non-artists who are the same age as my parents tell me "You should work for Disney." Why is that the end all be all?

Because Disney is the only company that ever makes animated movies /s. No really there was a meme floating around about 2 kinds of people; one side can name all the animation studios involved in the pictured film (Dreamworks, Studio Gibli, Cartoon Saloon, Illumination, etc) and the other person just thinks every animated movie is made by Disney.
I'm also guessing that the money aspect is a draw as well. When you see that a move like Moana just hit about $150 million in sales in the US alone you just assume that everyone is getting paid in buckets of gold.

I actually graduated from the "Disney animation school" (CalArts.) Disney hires maybe the top 1% of grads from there. Otherwise , unless you know someone with some pull who already works there, getting hired is basically impossible. It's a Union shop, and jobs are reserved for Union members, friends of such, or people who are crazy-talented.

My mom did this ("you should work for Disney! Go to Sheridan (local college) and take their art course, Disney hires straight from their grads!")

That was what made me decide to do ANYTHING BUT ART as a career. I didn't want to have the joy of it sucked away from me, but I also wanted to spite my mother.

Now I'd be interested in the course she wanted to shuffle me off to, but for my own reasons. I miss having challenges outside my personal 'box of stuff I like to draw'.
