I don't like to complain, but when it comes to my money, I hold certain expectations.

About a year ago I pre-paid JaxxBlackFox $150 for a commission. Being that I was on friendly terms with her sibling and they were living together I figured I'd break my No-Prepay rule and toss them the money upfront considering their complaint of poor living conditions and the desire to get out of that situation. (I know... no good deed goes unpunished.)

Anywho, I attempted to make contact via FA, DA, and Gmail with zero reply. I know of no other method to attempt to make contact than through her brother and that just seems inappropriate. I wasn't even sure if she was active online, until I noticed her making recent favorites on her DA account after my messages were sent. At that point, I can only conclude that I am being ignored.

I am no longer interested in receiving the commission, ideally I'd prefer (and feel that I am entitled to) a full refund, as I've not received any sign of progress or intent to complete the commission. I understand that she might have had setbacks, but I am not interested in excuses. My position is that she was hired to perform a task, and has not done such.

You know, this is a bit unrelated to your query, but relevant to this topic:
I noticed that JaxtheBat is listed under the fursuit community as a fursuit maker for hire, and I think with the number of complaints she has seen on this community if fursuit should really have her up there, giving her more exposure and opportunity to take people's money. I thinks this has to be about the 6th or 7th thing I've seen posted about her, and while I see people say "She takes forever but she will get it done" is it fair that she keeps taking these people's money when she can't seem to get commissions in at a reasonable time. I just think there should be a little bit of a reservation on other people and communities part to promote Jax given her current record.

Cal, if you check his FA, he has his most recent post as being 3 months ago about losing all the crap on his computer or something.. go read it, that might be why he doesn't have contact with you. Or he might be putting it on, who knows. Either way, I'd talk to his sibling and see about talking to him or something.

I am aware of her FA post, and it isn't the first journal she made explaining that her efforts have been delayed for one reason or another. You may even see a reply from me indicating that it was no big deal (one of the earlier posts). Regardless, at this point (as I said in my post) I am no longer interested in excuses.

I had sent Jaxx a message via 3 separate forums (DA, FA, and Gmail) with no reply. The message indicated that I wanted to arrange some sort of way to resolve this issue. I only finally decided to post here when I noticed activity on her DA account with no reply to my correspondence. I'm sorry, but in my opinion she has an obligation to at the very least reply to my emails, this wasn't a loan, or a donation, she was hired to perform a task and paid upfront a year ago.

She lives with her sibling (as far as I still understand it) and he is very active online (within the fandom as well) but again, this matter does not concern him and would be inappropriate for me to discuss. I've been in that situation before, and it's insulting.

The purpose of this post was merely to make people aware, I really don't expect my money or a picture at this point. It is for this exact reason that pre-paying anyone for a service is usually a bad idea, you loose your leverage.

I know it's possible to take 5 minutes to look at recient submissions and favorite vs doing a full comission.

If anything call the brother and ask for the number for them. If you are that close to them, they would be more than willing to prolly work something out and get the artist's phone number....

I for one agree with you, a year for a 150 dollar commission with barely any contact? It's better to start asking for a refund now rather than wait any longer, I fear your chances of getting your money back now are already slender enough as is.

I've seen your inked picture in my sisters workbook for a month, but you know what? I don't have a scanner right now that works with vista - the only working PC. And "I" need to pay out of my own pocket so she can scan images for 'you' to make you happy? Sorry, but that can wait untill AFTER christmas as I have bigger fish to fry.

I paid $150 over a year and a half ago to Ultraviolet and havent gotten it, but it doesnt bother me because I know artists in tough times take a while to get to images - such is the case with my sister. Should I just randomly call out my friend on this place and crap all over her for taking a while? NO.

Uh, then why didn't she use your working computer to get in contact with the commissioner, or respond to his notes on DA when she was clearly active there?

He's not sullying her reputation- if she can't keep in contact with him through your computer, since she is obviously using it or some other computer to browse DA, then the whole situation reeks of dishonesty.

Sorry, but it's your sister's responsibility to contact commissioners or respond to their contact when she obviously have the five minutes it takes to respond, after a YEAR of no contact whatsoever. Calorath is greatly within his rights here.

I fail to see what he was found out about? He hasn't had ANY contact with Jaxx within a year and wants a refund due to having no communication and no proof as to the progress of his commission.

Maybe you should tell her, so she can attend to HER business.

I need to know if you intend on completing this, or if you've done anything at all. I understand time constraints and whatnot, so I'm willing to negotiate a compromise that will relieve you of your obligation.

As far as 'being found out on here' this is a public forum, I made a post here with every intention that everyone and their mother would read what I had to say. I do not presume to make excuses... like yourself.

(My proof in the other comment below reflects your sister being active on DA. Remember, I sent her a message there as well, new messages show up right along new deviations, deviations which she then +fav'd while disregarding my message entirely)

How's this for a resolution. Have your sister get in touch with me so we can arrange a refund, or I'll begin a charge back process between my bank and yours, since your account was the one she had me paypal the $150 to.

Er, it's Jaxx's responsiblity to REPLY to the OP's emails. If Jaxx has time to browse FA and fave art, she has time to let the commissioner know the status of her image and what is happening.

Situation or not a response is due. If it was me id demand full refund. I came up short with Stormdragon (only did half the art) so i gave him half his money back. fare deal. ses done no art. so shes should give all the money back. but i bet she spent it and wont respond cuz she doesnt have the time to do the art and doesnt have the money to give back.


Good luck calorath. i hope she gets her shit together and atleast has the decency and RESPECT to respond to you considering you paid. its considered theft after a certain amount of time.
