But basically, he is one of those commissioners who expected me to read his mind. I have hundreds of positive commission experiences, and so far, this is the ONLY time I've ever felt the need to cancel the commission. I'm normally very patient and easy to work with, but one thing I do not tolerate is being insulted by saying my prices are too high, being expected to read people's minds of what they want, and generally just being talked to like a machine rather than a person.

Needless to say, I'm no longer accepting money orders because I certainly don't want someone who flies off the handle and calls me such names, having my address. :/

Supposedly this guy has commissioned some of "the best" artists, so I'm sure that he has some artists on his side, but I just wanted to share this so people know what he IS capable of, and so people like me who don't tolerate commissioners like him, know to watch out.

This guy is an idiot- he really did expect you to read his mind, giving you all that information afterwards.
There would be no way to fix what you have there, you would have had to start all over.
That is seriously ridiculous, and I would bet that there are others who have had problems with this guy.

Holy hell, that's really immature and scary! I've never in my life had a commissioner snap at me like that, even when the sketch isn't what they want. The proper way to handle that would have been to say, "hmm, I think we have a miscommunication here. This sketch isn't what I expected, so allow me to provide you with further details and perhaps some visual references. Let's work something out!" The improper way to handle this is to call you a bunch of names, like he did. =/

Yeah it would have been nice to have some positive as WELL as negative feedback, you know... so I wouldn't feel the work I'd done was COMPLETELY hopelessly bad in every aspect, which I don't think it was. But he seems to lack the social skill of at least showing appreciation for the work that someone is doing for them (and for 33% less than what I would charge for something like this normally.) :I

While his behavior was a little picky, I can't say that for a full piece that he was not within his rights; isn't that what the sketch stage is for? He was a little rude, but as an artist it's best to take it with a grian of salt; not everyone knows how to communicate effectively. I didn't read that as insulting your price so much as explaining why he felt he had a right to be picky. Not saying it was polite, but that you could easily have taken that differently.

Not to say that his flying off the handle when you returned his money was okay at all O_o but what did you say to him when rejecting his commission? That part seems to be missing (forgive me if it was posted and I don't see it), which is why I ask.

It's within a commissioner's right to object and ask for a clarified piece, yes, but expecting all of that detail right away when you didn't make it clear the first time, THEN acting in that manner is completely out of hand and even if an artist is "supposed to take it with a grain of salt", I wouldn't take a commission from someone I was afraid would continue abusing me in such a way either.

Yeah I thought I'd deleted it and re-done it but I guess it didn't upload properly. I replaced it with another, less relevant screencap that I didn't think to post with the comment until after.

But yes, good example of how he claims to have said not to use Seely's examples, when he never did, and that he suggested I draw them digitigrade, which he never did, though I tried to make them 'in-between' because of the fact he never specified.

Hrmm, maybe I'm just more robust about crits than you but I don't see what's wrong with it. He's not happy with the work and provides a list with his dissatisfactions, I would appreciate a list that's easy to work from and re-do the sketch -once-. But then I would have also made a few small thumbnails first so I could get a better idea of the pose he wanted so that wouldn't have been an issue.

And if I felt he was rude I would have asked him to be more polite rather than counter rudeness with rudeness, 80 bucks "back in your face"? Seriously? I felt you were rude before him because you perceived his crits as an insult. Maybe I just have thicker skin, maybe you should show rougher sketches first so you'll be less emotionally invested in them and be less offended when people ask you to change it significantly.

He has every right to mention the amount he's paying for it, and for 80 bucks I'd want something that resembles my character too, I'd be especially unhappy about the legs. He did mention he likes your digitigrade legs.

The cub thing you have my agreement on, I don't draw that shit either. People who think they can get an artist to draw something they say they don't after they officially become customers because they are customers and customers are supposedly always right can go fuck themselves.

Then again, I also don't use FA and get commissions from there. I think that by being on FA you give the impression that you at least tolerate the cub shite and you're bound to get people trying to commission you for them.

I do regret the 'in your face' bit but otherwise I was just speaking firmly and without politeness, same as he was. At least he wound up showing his true colors and I discovered through this post that he's actually made THREATS to people, before I wound up having to deal with him any further.

I don't have a problem drawing young characters especially in that sort of nude but not sexually explicit sort of image, but I don't even draw young characters so of course I'm not going to draw them precisely as he wants me to the very first time. He just made me feel like it was pointless to even bother making any edits, and seemed to not like anything about the image.

So far this is the only person to contact me asking for cub stuff, I don't think just being ON a site makes people think that you do cub 8D especially if you rarely draw it or fav it or have anything to do with it.

I just want to second this article entirely... I was never going to mention this guy as I try to keep my nose out of drama, but I want to add my experience to the list now that others are having problems with him.

Longtail commissioned me for a sketch (READ: SKETCH) of his two lion boy characters. He paid me $15, also by MO. I don't normally take payments that way, but I needed desperately to hoard funds for my move to England, so I did.

The first sketch I did he was unsatisfied with, claiming that the subject matter was entirely different than that which he ordered. He didn't like the pose, and wanted the new pose to be of his character inspecting his foot's pawpad for a thorn. So, I made this sketch here (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1605407/), which I rather liked, and was going to ink it for free since Longtail hadn't liked my previous attempt.

I was then met with this:
"As the commissioner of this, I feel totally ripped off. I paid good money for a sketch of one of my characters, and this is what I got. A simple two minute sketch without any consideration to the request. I originally asked for a sketch with two characters and got two separate sketches that are as pitiful as they come!
DO NOT TRUST JIJIX!!!!!!!"

He then tried to initiate a war with me in PM. He cussed me out, called me a whole bunch of names, ignored any of my offers for resolutions, and then sent this little super Internet-tough gem in PM:
"Be glad that you're in England."

This broke me. I am a patient person, but when someone insults me and my work so unjustifiably, I become indignant and uncaring, like anyone should. As if I am going to be threatened by a pasty little basement furry over a fucking sketch that I tried to resolve.

I then told him that the very same second that he wanted to shut the fuck up with his whiny little Internet-threats, stop cussing and acting like an asshole to me, I'd be happy to work with him to find a solution we could both be happy with.

He never replied to me. I guess he couldn't "lower" himself to being polite to me.

In short, Longtail is an asshole, he's after drama and free art, everything Vera has said is true, and this guy has been one of the only two out of over a hundred people to ever be unsatisfied with one of my products. So fuck him.
