I want to make this very clear.

Contacting people over matters in AB to harass/attack them IS NOT ALLOWED.

Just because someone has broken a rule, that does not make it okay to insult or pester them. Especially because doing so means you've broken a rule yourself. And yes, this rule applies to PMs/emails/whatever. If it spawned from AB, don't go after them.

2. Whatever happens in the community, stays within the community. Do not go to the offender's LJ or art site account and harass them, or contact them any other way if the matter under discussion does not regard you personally.

Mods are here for a reason. If someone messes up, we tell them. We don't need you guys going and attacking them. It is not acceptable by any means and WILL get you in trouble if we find out you've done it. You should also know better, as a group consisting mostly of reasonable adults. Banned/warned members are not 'free game'.

TL;DR, don't harass people over things in the community. You WILL be warned or banned for such.

Please be prepared to give us names. We cannot help you get an apology, nor can we punish or just even KNOW who your harassers are, if you don't divulge their user names/emails/FA/DA/etc., to us. We understand if you feel panicked and bullied, and that you may not want to continue dealing with it. But for the betterment of the comm on the whole, please give those names up!

As for the person who was harassing me, it was lilenth who started shit on FD2 regarding matters that happened here:

I've also had a few other run ins with Lilenth regarding the same issue but I never bothered to screen cap them and she promptly deleted the comments after someone called her out on it.

I stand by what I said, you really aren't in a position to criticize with how you carried on that occasion and on others. Being honest isn't harassment.

You know making false claims isn't very nice; As far as I can recall I've never deleted a comment in all the time I've been on livejournal. I have a very good idea of why you've got a grudge against me and if I see you making such accusations on AB again, I'll tell the moderators exactly what your problem really is with me.

So just to be clear, is it harassment that is specifically not allowed or is contacting them in any way shape or form not permitted?

I ask because given the overlap with some sites, it's entirely possible to comment on something on another site then come here and find it's been posted, so theroetically if no contact whatsoever is a rule, one could be banned for talking to someone about a situation that's been posted on artists_beware even if one doesn't know that it's been posted here. There have also been occasions where people posted about here have invited commentary on their half but posted it elsewhere, is commenting okay if it's invited or not?

We've also had issues with certain less than honourable individuals deciding to target other groups (which some of us are also members of) when their ability to get money from the main groups who post here drops off due to the spread of info about their bad business practises.

I presume it's acceptable to inform a moderator belonging to another group about someone's less than stellar history of selling/commissioning and to link them to artists_beware posts for the purpose of preventing further issues being caused by them? or would that be considered harassment?

The rule is strictly for harassment.

I'm talking about things like PMing a person and calling them an idiot for something they did in AB, as apparently happened yesterday. We don't pretend to have any control over what people do, but we're not going to be a safe haven for people who feel it's alright to all out ATTACK people for getting posted on here or messing up somehow.

That said, I want to cover our butts by saying it'll be handled on a case by case basis. We get too many people trying to get other members in trouble out of spite as it is, I don't want to give anyone the room to play backseat moderator. We'll handle things the way we feel is best for the community.

Talking to people is fine. Angry mobbing them isn't. Common sense stuff, really.

I take it then that whether something is or isn't harassment will be defined by the mods and not by the person complaining?

I know what you mean about the spite thing, I've known some crazy people who have followed me around over the years and been all stalkerish to the point where I've had to involve the police because they got ahold of my private contact details and started bombarding me with creepy messages or trying to dig up dirt on me (and failing since there really isn't any) then they publically claimed that I'm after them and mindbogglingly some people have actually believed them. >.>

Oh yes, we ask for screenshots and the like. We're not going to take action because Suzy doesn't like Jack and goes 'Hey, Jack PMed me calling me a slut because of artists_beware!'. We'll ask for some evidence and then take it from there.

Nobody so far has ever actually given us proof, though. As soon as we ask for it, they suddenly 'don't want to deal with it' anymore.

Sadly the fact that nobody has given you proof really doesn't surprise me. Perhaps I'm getting cynical but it seems that far too many people cry harassment or discrimination over the silliest of things sometimes.

Well, that's not really harassment. Be careful how you do it, however. I would recommend privately noting/emailing them with the information instead of making a public spectacle or the like.
