Well, this isn't really a warning, more of a question...

I just checked my mail this morning and found the following email:

hello
how are you today? my name is bruno wase i will like to order for some
of your art work to my substore in nigeria and i will to know if you can
accept the folowing options
can you accept credit card?
can you ship to nigeria?
can you ship via ups or usps ?
please get back to me with your website address and the list of art works
you have in stock and your minimum order if you accept the listed above
options so that i can proceed with my order asap
await your reply.
thanks with regards

So, here are my questions:
- Why would a serious business/shop owner have (not to sound mean) rather bad grammar (unless English was not their first language)?
- Why would they be asking for my website? Isn't that how they found my work/know that I am an artist?
- What do they mean by "List of art works that I have in stock"
- All in all, what is this person asking for? Art for shirts? Prints? They didn't really specify, or else I totally missed it.

Also, has anyone else recieved an email from this person?

That sounds like an email I got a few months ago about a Nigerian store wanting to order my furry art CD in bulk. Though they didn't say "art cd" they said "$30 items", which is the only thing that matched the description of my art CD. I emailed them back and they never responded.

You should email them your questions and let us know if you hear back from them.

Sounds like some scams I've heard of that end up like this:
Cashier Check Scam (http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/cashier.asp) and Stolen Credit Card Scam (http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/cnp.asp)
except that the person is too lazy to look up sellers himself and is just spamming hoping to find one.

It smells bad to me. I'd definitely avoid it, you could end up being scammed either for cash or perhaps worse, with your artwork copyrights badly breached.

For people who don't click links:
The first one involves giving you more money than you ask for in the form of a 'cheque', part of which you are to give, in cash, to someone else in America or abroad. Of course, the cheque is no good. The second is ordering goods with fraudulent or stolen credit information.

There have been so many scams that claim to come from Nigeria, art related and not.. (one such scam was asking people to buy and send laptops to them for a fee after the fact, and others were general credit frauds.) If you see anything coming from there unsolicited, assume its a scam/spam delete it, and move on.

I get 18 pieces of spam mail a week with some deals in Nigeria and other African nations. If I see the name of one of those nations, it gets trashed. I recommend you do the same.

I don't know why, but I always associate Nigeria with fruads, cheats, and scams.

Ignore it. It's is definitely a scam! I've had a couple friends that followed it up and it was 100% scam.

You've got some very stylish artwork! I love the picture on your website. :D
It's funny, your LJ profile says you're a wannabe artist, but you're so talented already! o_o!
No wonder those crazy Nigerians are sending whatever 419 scams they can your way! :D

I've gotten emails asking me to basically let someone launder 38.5 Mil through my bank account, and I get 500K of it. I just needed to show them my account info... hell no... The last time I got this email, it was from Nigeria

As a matter of fact.

Considering the number of scams that originate in Nigeria specifically

You could probably create a filter in your email that will automatically route to trash, any email containing the word "Nigeria" or "Nigerian" and be confident you are not missing ANYTHING of value.

It seems like a scam to me. The fact it is in Nigera is sort of supcious. I know there are furries in South Africa, but I don't think there are any furries in Nigeria...

It's a scam as are 99% of emails people ever receive from Nigeria.

In fact, almost all of the scams we get at work are from Nigeria, specifically Lagos. All of hell would freeze over before I did any business with anyone from that country

(Not meaning to sound racist of course, but so much fraud comes out of Nigeria it's unreal)
