Hey guys, new at this.
In past, I've seen people ask around here to track down contact details and I was hoping someone here could help me out!

Here's the situation:
I did a simple sketch commission ($5) for Joseph Zdenek (the guy behind this book, Heart of Courage) about a month ago. I was a little delayed in getting the sketch done (two weeks instead of two days), but I finished it up within a reasonable amount of time and sent it off to him to be approved.
Aaand that was the last time he logged in to the FurAffinity Forums, where he had contacted me. No news from him whether or not he got the image or looked at it or even cares.

I was never paid and I can't find any other way to contact him; google doesn't turn up anything and there is nothing on FAF. He has commissioned some other artists, so maybe someone of you know him?

Admittedly, $5 isn't a lot and the guy is probably just having internet trouble, but I do kind of want to be paid for the work I did.

It's more reasonable than say like.. two months or two years. It still doesn't take from the fact that this person is just asking for help contacting someone who seems to have disappeared.

Oh definitely! I'm not poo pooing the need to find the commissioner. But it's a bit hypocritical posting a beware on someone when you yourself have missed your deadline 7x over.

What? Two weeks isn't very long at all. That's hardly a reason to ignore and not pay the guy.

Though, I can agree that the artist should have said something about a delay to the commissioner if they didn't.

Oh yeah - but I can see why it has caused an issue here. If I am lagging, I let the commissioner know before the deadline, and work something out between us. Otherwise the client will just assume you are a lost cause, which is my worry about this situation.

I didn't have a deadline for this piece, I just told him I would do it as quickly as I could. Real life really gets in the way of commissions sometimes so I'm very upfront about that with potential commissioners.

Hopefully someone knows this dude and he's alright; I get worried when clients disappear for awhile.

I did not have a deadline for this piece, I simply stated I would do it as quickly as I could. The point is that the sketch may have taken a little longer than a sketch ought to, but that I'm not the kind of artist who takes months and months to turn out a quick piece.

I'm glad you understand what's going on and that this is not a beware. I just want to be able to contact this guy. Sorry if my post was confusing or caused you to come to the wrong conclusions.

Ah, I see! Sorry, from your post it seemed as if you had agreed on a deadline. Hmm, hopefully someone will know how to get him - that is frustrating :(

Yeah, I did a sketch for him too and never got paid. I didn't ask for payment up front like I usually do though, so I just wrote it off.

First rule for commissions is never to provide the art (not even a decent scan, always do low-res scans for approval when sans payment) until paid some. I hope you and others who got ripped get paid but I guess consider it a lesson learned. :(

This is the person who commissioned you. I'm so, terribly sorry about this. I got such a deluge of response that I was not expecting. I categorized as best I could and once some time passed and I thought I had everyone's pics in, I stopped logging on, as that was the only reason I was there. I'm so sorry I missed you. I sent you a message through the FA board and paid you, please let me know if anything is missing.

Saeto, I had you marked off as paid but if I made a mistake I will rectify it. I will check my paypal records and if I'm wrong, that will be sent immediately.

Again, my sincerest apologies for the mix-up. I assure you, I never mean to delay or disregard payment to anyone. I'm currently working with a couple FA artists who I'm sure can vouch for that. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to get things right. And thanks to Kage for pointing me to this thread.

Oh, it's quite alright! Thank you so much for the quick response (: I was actually a little worried when you disappeared; I tend to assume the worst has happened when I can't find people.

I'll be updating this entry in like two seconds to reflect this change in development.
