Not exactly a beware but moreover a lost contact, more information is under the cut.
UPDATE: Artist finally contacted me via FA private message and informed me that she would be refunding me my money on Saturday. I'll create another update once the refund has been successfully completed by the artist.
UPDATE2: Artist has refunded me the full amount back to my paypal account.

Over a month had passed without any updates/information, so I decided to write the artist a Private Message on FA (November 30th) asking for any updates on the commission. After one more week had passed without any response from the artist I decided to copy & paste the Private Message again and send it, toward which she finally replied:

Also- if there is a better method of communication that I should be aware of for reaching you, please feel free to recommend such a resource.

Sorry, I've been pretty busy with work lately. I haven't been able to catch enough time to work on the icons,but I'm estimating New Year's at the latest. I'm actually working on getting back to the people who bought an icon to see what kind of compensation we can work out to make up for the long wait. I can also throw in a nice Sai sketch :) (Something like this:http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4675074/) Once again, I'm really sorry that you've had to wait so long.

With still no response after eight days passing, I became really frustrated and decided to request a refund from the artist.
This one reads:

I'm becoming very uncomfortable with the lack of communication regarding the commission that we set up in October. The last private message/update that I received from you was December 9th, 2010. In the time that has occurred in between that date, I have sent you messages on FA, LJ, and even dA trying to contact you for an update or new estimated time of completion but have not received any response.
At this point I would like to politely request a $10 refund for the October made commission. The paypal account was:

EXPLAIN: I have lost contact with the artist Devhalena and was wondering if anybody has any advice or help they could provide for this situation. The last update/estimated time of completion she sent me was December 9th, 2010. This estimated time of completion was set for January 1st, 2011 by the artist herself. I have tried sending her Private Messages on FA, LJ, and dA with no luck. I even gave her a shout on her FA page to see if I can could grab her attention. She's still favoriting artwork on FA constantly and has uploaded some personal artwork ever since the Teenycom post, so she's definitely alive and active on the internet.
I just can't seem to get a hold of her no matter what method I try!
Any advice on what I should do next would be appreciated! (For example if I continue to not hear from her and not receive a refund for a long period of time)
This is my first post on a_b and I'm hoping it will be my last. Except to post positive feedback on great artists!

While she is coming out now about her lost interest, it would've been better had she informed people sooner.

Sounds like life is kicking her pretty hard in the teeth and she is rather depressed about the whole thing but she is going to try to make it right.
Considering the unemployment rate in that area (I have two nieces who are looking for work in the same part of the country and they have their college degrees), I give what she said lots of credence.

I know I should have told folk earlier about this mess I've gotten into, but I guess it was just hard for me to put it all into a collective entry until now. I'll take all responsibility for this, and I plan to be better with my business and not take on more than I can handle in the future. Once again, sorry for all the trouble I've caused. I'll be working on getting life situated after all of this.
