Lost Contact: Zombienerd

This is BY NO MEANS a warning, I just haven't heard from this person in a long time, and I think they're a part of this community so I thought I'd try here.

Zombienerd commissioned me over a year ago for a $10 ref sheet from Teenycom. I admit, I took an absurdly long time, between me being slow and having a 6 month or so dry spell with art, and ended up redoing it once or twice. In the meantime, I know I corresponded with said commissioner on FA, double checking they still wanted the commission even though it was months later. When I finally finished said commission a couple months ago, I noted them on FA (and I'm sure it's the same person, I think I had noted them before and gotten a response) but I haven't gotten a response saying they got it. It says in my outbox that it was at least read though. I also have zombienerd's AIM, but I haven't seen them on at all since I posted the commission, and that's the only means of contact I have other than FA.

It's only 10 bucks, and it was really my fault that I took so long to finish it, so the money isn't a big deal at all. I mostly just want to make sure that they received the ref and are happy with it.

EDIT: It wasn't clear in the entry, but the commission has not been paid for yet. I wouldn't really be concerned otherwise, even if it just is 10 bucks.

Yeah, I did a commission for them, too, and they didn't reply after I sent the finished product. They did read the note, though, so I dunno.

It was paid. They saw a few WIPS before the end product and were communicative, but never told me whether they were happy with it or not.

I was. I really just say something if there's a problem or whatever. I can just never come up with something to say that doesn't sound like the copy/pasted A+++ WILL COMMISSION AGAIN things like the seller ratings on Ebay. D:

Well, you sent it, and the art link probably works, and they read it, so it may very well be the case that they didn't feel like replying.

As an artist, I have had a lot of commissioners who never respond when they get the finished art, whether to confirm or thank, or even complain. I would say don't stress over it, even if it feels like you're being left hanging. Transaction's done!

Yeah, you do have a point. A part of me does want that 10 bucks (and I just checked back to the beginning of my 2009 paypal history, and it hasn't been paid for), but it's nice to know the customer's thoughts. That's why I haven't really thought much of it even though I finished the commission 2 months ago.

In that case, disregard what I said before; I thought you were saying in your post that it was only $10 so it wasn't a super important commission, but if it's not paid for then you do in fact have a problem on your hands.

Oh, also, I'd definitely suggest making it clear in your post that it wasn't paid for, and in the future get payment first! Less stress.

Just fixed the entry to reflect that it wasn't paid for. Sorry about the confusion! I meant to say that it's not a big deal to me that I'm currently out of 10 bucks (as opposed to like a big 50 dollar commission or something).

I totally agree, I've been doing that lately and it's definitely wayyy less stressful. I just wish I had done it before haha.

Happens to me all the time too. I wait 24-48 hours and then post it if they didn't respond :/

I usually do that too. I thiiiink I noted them first before posting, like I normally do (I definitely noted them about the finished commission, just not sure if I did it before or after I uploaded it), but I haven't heard from them at all since I noted them 2 months ago. I don't think they've disappeared since they just faved something a day ago so I'm not sure what's going on. :c

I had the same thing with Zombienerd. They were very patient, polite, and paid upfront, but when I completed their commission I never got a response.

Yeah, exactly. Every interaction I had with them previously was very polite and patient, which was absolutely wonderful, which was why it surprised me when I never got a response after it was finished. I thought the same thing about my commission for them haha.

OHAY. Yeah, I don't really go on FA often other than to follow links. I forgot about it. To be fair, you forgot about the commission as well. It's been quite a while (a year?)

And I don't really do the chat thing. I commission for art and if it's good, I save it and move on. I really just comment or say something if there's a problem with the completed picture.

I was! But after I had originally wanted the commission, she forgot about it for a hell of a long time. By then I'd written it off as she'd changed her mind. I don't have the original notes but it was...what, 6 months? 8? I think it's been a year or something since it was supposed to get done. When I approach someone for a commission, I have the money ready to go then.

Yeah, that's what I gathered from other people that commented up here. I admit I did forget about the commission sometimes, and also redid it a bunch (couldn't nail the face down) so it's really on me, I completely admit my fault on that.

I completely understand how sometimes, you don't want to sound like a copy pasted person or anything. But, it would be a good idea to say something if you can, even a simple thank you. It's just that way we know you got it (if we're sending by email, for example). It's happened tons that people don't reply and I need to poke them about it, just in case the email never got through in the first place.

Plus, it's more commonly thought that if they don't reply, they may not like the picture but don't want to deal with it, since a lot of people don't say things directly, rather then not replying because they do like it.
