Yeek. The artist's responses to everything going on kind of resemble that of a train wreck. Painful to watch. I didn't have an opinion of Windy before, but now I certainly do! D:

If you're called out of A_B, there is -usually- a reason for it... and while it may be scary/hurtful/annoying, your best bet is to approach it as calmly as possible, explain your side of the story without making excuses, and do what you can to rectify the issue... If people see you're trying your best to fix the situation, then they might not blacklist you! HURRAY.

People who own up to the fact they've done wrong tend to get a LOT of respect here, I've noticed over the years. Heck, I've seen artists get featured here, be polite and professional when they respond, and they end up GAINING business from it!

Handling it like this certainly isn't the way to go about it, and is pretty much a guarantee to make sure you stand out as someone to avoid in people's heads. Who wants to deal with someone who might have such a nasty attitude if things go wrong?

I hate to add fuel to the strange flame going on but I got a note from this person concerning the original a_b post and it was really strange and kind of showed a sense of mixed-up priorities.

Since I talked to you personally windy I'm just going to say as much as nicely as possible: you're contradicting yourself in a bunch of places and it's just not painting you in a great light. At this point, it is yourself that is giving us a bad sense of what kind of person you are. Peanut gallery aside, the original post was only saying "this person has not paid me or refunded me over the course of one and a half years and admitted to avoiding me because of it." This is a fact that you yourself admitted to be true. People can decide if they want to work with you despite this or not.

But coming in and saying that everyone's "dumb" and not worth telling your side to, and then yet just giving a side that confirms the first post's facts, and doing so with a very terrible attitude, just really seals people's perceptions on you.

You cannot blame an audience for their perceptions and reactions towards what you say. There is a REASON they react and interpret what they do from it. Think about what you say; unfortunately because of your posts here more people are just seeing a reason to avoid you when that's obviously not what you wanted. Reassess your actions and take on more responsibility for them, you'll benefit from it.

I have. Which is why I replied to Kayla-la- that I was sorry, and didn't really realize that me saying something simple like "People here are dumb" would offend so many. I made it so general I though others would take it as an expression of frustration, but I can see not one person took it that way.

Blah. They already had an opinion before I commented last night, and I realize I could have made it worse- but then again, if they only used their human hearts they'd realize I obviously am trying to make it right. I'm sure if they were put on display they wouldn't be reacting so calmly either, and I feel there are a lot of factors people take for granted in a situation like this.

Yeah.... I think this qualifies as one of those posts where the artist has made their own beware (which I'm still in favor about making a tag for)
The persecution complex and the refusal to acknowledge her mistakes and try to use this post as means for self improvements rather disconcerting. A_B has become far more civil and even toned with the new dedicated mods, and as I read these comments I get the impression that people on this community are genuinely interested to hear the artist's side, and yet she repeately insults us and then refuses to acknowledge she does, commenting herself deeper and deeper into a whole. I hope this serves as a teaching tool for other young artists of what not to do no this community.

It's the commissioner that decides when it's resolved,(as hamburger said) I have already sent partial payment (all I had) and he's not yet been online to show you all how your accusations have been wrong, and that I do keep my word. And, keeping in mind there are other people that don't share the same opinions of the people here. This discussion group isn't the views of the world.

I'm done with this for the most part, I posted my journal and the mods have yet to approve (though I will be sure to post exactly what I would have posted here on fa) and this community has not been at it's finest, in my opinion. I realize this doesn't matter, but I digress- I'm sure more will post here with their thoughts, no matter how pointless or unhelpful to the commissioner's post or problem in the first place.

Hey, mattdawolf, it's now the 21st, and this was posted on the 19th, with the promise of payment "tonight" (being the 19th, I'm guessing, or maybe the 20th). Did you receive installment 1?

wolfofwind, the bottom line is, you agreed to do a bunch of images in exchange for nifty supplies, two years ago. Two. Years. Apparently, it took getting posted about here to motivate you to resolve this issue.

In a text-based medium, one needs to take into consideration one's phrasing, as there's no ability to read body language, facial expression, or hear tone of voice. It's not that "people here are dumb," it's that people here will not hesitate to call out hijinx, on either the OP or the target of the Beware. This very much is a Court of Public Opinion, and one seriously needs to present one's self as credible in order to be taken seriously. To behave in an immature fashion regarding what is, essentially, a business transaction, makes one look like a child, unwilling or incapable of following through with one's agreements. This behaviour will leave a negative impression on buyers and artists.

He got the first payment. Unfortunately for my luck, he of course hasn't been online e_o And, it didn't take a posting here. If anyone here really listened. I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT UNTIL THREE DAYS AGO. If that were true, I wouldn't be jumping on the bandwagon paying him now, what sense would that make? He'd already done my commissions damage, that's what the rest of you don't understand. He'd done it long ago, and never informed me, and then was still trying to get money from me.. but he'd damaged my commissions. How do I make money to pay him when he's damaged business? You see how this is counter-productive, and why I may be upset about it?

Anyway, I'm not paying him because of this post, or any of you. As I said, I don't owe any of you a thing, my debt is to Cyberwuffy. And, all of you had already passed judgment before even thinking to ask me, the artist.

But, I'm sure someone else will just tell me how wrong I am.. instead of reading all my personal information that's in the first post. Hmm, normally an artist's first appearance on a_b they don't try to flesh out every financial detail of an artist's life. Before they even know the other side.

I proudly state that I wouldn't touch the artist with a ten foot pole (If that). The complete inability to grasp that spinning in circles while crying BUT BUT while tossing insults/snark does not help your PR for future customers is honestly frightening.

Word and mouth does pass around and this could have been forgotten should it have been "I apologise for the delay, unfortantely personal circumstances came up. I shall get onto repayment as soon as possible." as it is... Another very rightfully justfied beware due to the PR's own actions.

For what it's worth... I think it would be better if you stepped away from the post for a little while wolfofwind. I know I'm kind of late to this, but it might still help.

I'm a bit more sympathetic to what's happening from your POV - you just found out there's this post about something you did wrong, and a bunch of people are questioning everything about you and your dog (literally). That's essentially happening all at once, right now from you perspective with the added insult that no one told about this. You're pretty understandably upset (I'd be mad too if someone started questioning my every decision), and reacted as such, then get into a beat-down with most of the people in this post. In my opinion, it was both sides starting it , but once it got going there were a lot more people on one side than the other.

That being said, obviously the post was useful, if the OP was being repaid within a day or two of you finding it. I think it's probably best to just take a break from this post and just let your wounds heal a little until you have it paid off. Then maybe deal with what's happened here/tell your side if you really think it will help. (Show it to an acquaintance first and get their opinion on whether it'll help you or not.) That's about when you might want to look at the comments on the thread again too (and I'd reread all of them, including your own), then decide what needs to be done about it.

I'm glad this is in the process of getting resolved though.
