It's ridiculous that I have to make this post over something so simple, but this person has stopped responding to my emails, and has ignored the Paypal claim that I filed.

On May 5, I posted a journal asking if anyone had some sparkle furs on hand that they would be willing to sell. Evilalcarne responded saying she could sell me some lime green fur. I paid $10 for the half yard of fur and $10 for shipping on May 7.

She responded the same day, saying the fur would be shipped out on Monday.

On Tuesday, May 10, I sent an email asking for the tracking number. She told me that she had stopped by the post office that day, but that her mother had the tracking number, since she was the one who went to the post office.

On May 13, I sent an email asking for the tracking number again so that I could be home to receive the package. I received no response.

On Monday, May 16, I sent another email telling her I was getting worried. Shipping from FL to GA takes two days at most. Even parcel post is a quick ship. I once again asked for the tracking number. She responded with "it's around here somewhere."

And that was the last message I received from her. I sent a final stern email on Friday, May 20 telling her that I expected either the tracking number or a refund by the end of the day on Saturday, or I would be filing a Paypal claim. I received no response. A Paypal claim was filed late Saturday night, and it was not responded to. Today I escalated it to a claim, and I'm fairly confident that I will receive a refund, given that she is apparently unable to show proof that the fur was shipped.

Please avoid transactions with this person. Communication is spotty, and she apparently can't be bothered to give you the tracking code on packages.

Update
: The fur actually arrived today via UPS. However, according to the tracking number on the package, it wasn't mailed off until May 20. That's 10 days after she claimed it had been mailed. Though I sincerely doubt it was $10 to ship, considering it weighs only 11 ounces, the UPS shipping calculator is apparently down right now, so I'm unable to get a price estimate.

As if that weren't bad enough, when I opened the box, I quickly realized that it was not the half yard that I had bought. She sent me an 18x18 piece of fur (a half yard would have been an 18x65" piece). That's something like 1/8 of a yard, not 1/2. I know it was not a misunderstanding, since she included a note in the box saying "here is the 1/2 yard of fur." I can't help but think that she purposely sent me ~1/8 yard, and just assumed I wouldn't know what 1/2 a yard looks like. :|
Fur 1
Fur 2

And this may be nitpicky, but on her site she has a picture posted of her dog lying in the exact same fur that she sent to me. Though I'm not allergic to dogs, the fur was going to be used on tails that could be sold to people who are allergic. I don't use furs that have been used as animal beds.

Also forgot to add her contact/site information:

I approved this, but could you please remove their real name from the subject and blur/censor it in the emails? Thank you.

You didn't link to a site for her, and her LJ didn't list it. So yes, if she uses it on her website it can stay.

I do believe you should open a paypal dispute, such deceptive behavior is despicable. Once paypal performs a reverse, she'll be the one responsible for paying for the fur to be shipped back to herself.

That's ridiculous. Selling fur that's been used as an animal's bed is so unprofessional and inconsiderate, you're not being nitpicky at all by mentioning it. Considering the condition of the material, overcharging for the shipping and that it was only half of what you paid for you're still entitled to a full refund imo.

Jesus, $10 to ship that? It could have been folded and easily fit into a small flat-rate box, or even shipped in a large padded envelope.

Did the postage ticket on the box say what they sender actually paid for shipping? Because I'd guarantee it probably wasn't more than $4

Just curious - is this the same person that makes those... er.... interesting Chinese Crested suits?

If so, judging by the attitude that person has pulled on people on other communities it's probably best to just pursue the paypal refund and save yourself the drama.

That fur could probably have been folded up and put in a flat rate envelope for $5 USPS. And if they wanted to ship it First Class, it would have cost $3.11 according to my USPS rate calculator on eBay.

So, yeah...I'm not familiar with UPS rates, but I'm guessing you still overpaid by a good amount.

If she shipped it UPS, then it could have been around ten bucks to ship. I use UPS all the time at work, and they charge extra for residential delivers and one pound is the minimum. The shipping cost at least sound legit.

Oh god. This girl.

She bid on a partial I had put up on Furbid, won the auction, only to tell me that she didn't have the money. I gave her two weeks to pay for it, when the two weeks were up she told me she'd "have it by Friday."

Okay.

Needless to say, I told her to keep her money. Don't want to have to deal with her flailing around any longer. Sorry to hear about your experience. :/ I agree with the paypal refund, seems like the best option.

Yeah, I've been hearing a fair few sketchy things about Evilalcarne in various places, like bidding on things she didn't have the money for and heckling other bidders to go buy her lesser-quality fursuit heads instead so she can have the money for the other auction.

Not to mention, her attitude over in the FursuitAuctions comm has been... Really, really childish and unprofessional. I'd definitely avoid doing business with this person.

And regarding the date the package was sent, it looks to me like she got your warning message on the 20th and sent it out then in an attempt to save her hide and hope you wouldn't notice the difference in the mailing date. :/

Irresponsible folks who think that we don't read the date labelled on the package.
I'd still dispute with a Paypal Claim, because:
1. the item doesn't fit the description (you bought 1/2 a yard of fur, and only received half of that)
2. the item was not shipped within the appropriate time frame
3. the seller overcharged for shipping
You may be able to receive a partial refund? Or maybe send it back for a full refund?

You purchased half a yard of fur... is 18" not right?

A yard is approximately 3 feet, each foot is 12 inches. Three feet is 36 inches. One half of that is 18 inches...

Am I wrong? I don't have any experiences with cutting material and fur, so is the problem that it was supposed to be wider?

They expected 18x36 (I think). I believe as fabric is so wide, then you chose how many yards you want of said width. However, I am wondering if that is just miscommunication.

It's a little greater than a quarter yard (but not by much; 16.25 in would be a quarter). I am just not so knowledgeable on fabric stuffs (but good at math!) ^^;

Oh! Sorry! I was thinking a quarter of 65!

Is it somehow possible that she was measuring her "yardage" sideways? It seems she's young (still in high school?) and may not fully understand that the width of the fur is not the length of the fur.

Even still, a small square for twenty bucks is far too much. Here's hoping the situation gets corrected.

Items that have been "pre-loved" by a pet should be labeled as such. End of discussion. Imagine if the receiver was super allergic to cats or dogs. Not disclosing it is potentially dangerous for the customer! It makes me :| when fursuit makers show their pets lying on fur or finished fursuits (And I've seen both!)

I know you can't really watch your pet all the time and lord knows my cat gets into everything but come on. Sorry you had to get the short end of the stick there, OP.

Agreed. I have a dog and a cat, and I keep my supplies secured in a closet or hanging up where my pets can't lay on them. I mean, my cat might have, at one point, rubbed his face on a corner of some fur hanging down. But he's never allowed to lay on it, roll on it, play with it... I discourage him from playing with scraps, even, because I don't want him to think the fabric is a plaything. I know I can't keep 100% of pet hair away from all of my supplies at all times, but I do my best to keep my home clean and never encourage the animals to play in/on/with things that I am going to SELL. And absolutely NONE of the animals have EVER been allowed into my fabric storage closet (huge walk-in under the stairs) so there is a safe haven for stuff that's not currently being worked with.

At least people like this, that will proudly post the pictures up on their web site, are showing that they let their animals play in their supplies, I guess, but you can't know that unless/until you've actually visited their site. Never would've known that just from the initial transaction.

It always makes me nervous when I see pets lounging on things like that. I always think that whatever is on the animal could be on the product and just ew. D:

I got a UPS shipping cost calculator to come up here (http://www.theupsstore.com/qcc/pages/qcc.aspx) using Google Chrome with updated plug-ins. I'm not sure if the browser/plugins matter but that could be part of why you might not see a calculator.

Apparently the dog's allowed to lounge on all their fursuit making supplies. :/

Also, good luck with the paypal dispute - I think it's fairly clear to anyone that you got nowhere near what you paid for - with or without shipping being extortionate.

I would be really wary of receiving fur from someone who allowed it to be used as a pet bed or simply left it on the floor. That's a good way to get bed bugs or fleas. x_x;

Good luck with your pp dispute!

Ugh, just ugh. This girl is a real piece of work. I am assuming she's just young and irresponsible, but from what I've seen in some of the other comments about her behavior elsewhere, I would say a beware is long overdue.
