I was told to reply publically

I can't believe after 2 years that this all just comes back up, and so suddenly.

I went over everything, and got a unanimous response to make my side public, to help clarify things. I sent Growly a note, but I suppose everyone else deserves a response as well.

2 years ago, maybe slightly more, I saw one of my favorite artist's hold a contest to win a fursuit commission. Of course, being brand new to the whole Fursuit thing, I was tempted to try! The contest was for a fursuit to be made of the most interesting character design you could think of.

I admit I dropped everything I was doing and drew up an awesome hummingbird design. Who else had a hummingbird costume??

Well, after the contest ended, I got a note that basically said "You owe 2,100$ that needs to be paid within the next X amount of time. Here's my TOS. Sign it."

So I was freaking out. I entered a contest for a free fursuit, and I get asked for 2 grand and a contract?!?! I knew I must have stepped into something huge, and I was worried if I backed out, that I would be chastised for it.

That following day I withdrew my ENTIRE SAVINGS account, and sent it to this stranger, along with a signed TOS that I hardly understood.

As time goes on, I have no idea what to expect, or what's expected of me. I didn't get a single picture update until the entire top of the bodysuit was sewn, lining and all. Also, in the pictures, as it lay flat on the ground, I couldn't tell what the pattern was looking like. All I could tell was it looked something quite similar to my design, which was incredibly complex.

As time goes on, and Growly finished it, and sends it to me, I take it out and look it over, oohing and aaahing in sheer delight. This was my first fursuit ever!! I was so proud! I now owned my very first fursuit!!

Well, what was a girl to do? I put it on! I was so ecstatic. It was incredibly awkward, I had to gently, but firmly finagle my way into the suit. After getting the feet on, I noticed a giant black buff mark on the side of a talon!

I pulled the legs up, they were a PERFECT fit on my calves, and I zipped up the backs of the calves and stod with it waist-high. That's when I noticed the holes in the legs! The fleece that attached the feet to the body was literally ripping, leaving large circular gaps in the fabric, and even a few marks up my leg, which I have no idea how it could have gotten this way!

I shrugged it off and got the rest of the bodysuit up. It was so tight, designed for a 5' 6" person, I could not bend or even lift my hands above my head. I could head the fur straining against the seams. This made me incredibly nervous, to say the least!

The head and the hands fit around me well, and the head was too cute, but the beak had to lay completely down he length of my chest so I could see out of it. At first I thought it was just something I had to overcome, for such a beautiful suit, and was willing to try it.

I didn't want to ruin the costume, so I took it off and put it back in the box. I emailed Growly with a very upset letter, and she told me I needed to wear it for a bit, because fur will stretch with use. I couldn't see how that was possible! I was so afraid to wear it and ruin it!

I went to my first furmeet, and put her to the test. I did a few hops and skips while I got used to the suit. A few people asked for pictures, and I tried lifting my head for pictures, but I could never see when they were done taking pictures. They would have already left while I was left there, holding my pose....

The body did stretch out after a while though, and oh man, thank god it did! Later on I got to really inspect the costume, and how it was on me, and how close to character it was. Actually, it was one of my friends who pointed out the blue markings on the shoulder. They were NOT in any of the reference images I sent her. It was supposed to be a stripe that went around the black stripe in the same shape. However I figured I could get some green fur and edit that myself, as I felt bad telling Growly about all the other problems. (Continues)
