WHEN: It had been a month or two before I noticed trouble. I asked for updates, first she said her desktop computer or laptop was not working and she was unable to do digital art, but she had been submitting digital works while stating that. So, again I asked for updates after I presumed it was fixed, and she got VERY rude with me, stating I had to wait my turn just like everybody else. As of then, she has been continually submitting things digitally, and ignoring me when I asked for updates. NOW she's saying I never paid her.

Edit: She saw my paypal screenshot and apologized for saying that, so that's situated. Everything else, however is still valid.
This journal she says she owes me two icons, and my unanswered comment about updates.

EXPLAIN: I commissioned her in February because I had wanted some new icons, and noticed she was open. So I sent off my details via PM, and sent her the $6. I wanted for a month noticed she had completed every one else before me. I aske dher how my icons were coming once, and she said she was anable to do digital work because her computer was broken and she lost the files, I said alright and went on my merry way, I figured things would look up. A month or so later, maybe more, I notice she started submitting again, and when I asked for an update I got a nasty PM stating I needed to wait my turn just like every one else. Once I find the screenshot of this I will add it into the post.

It is now July, and i've flat out asked for my money back. However, she is now stating I never paid her, which in the above screenshot, and based on the paypal in her journal, I totally did. This is the first time i've ever had issues with an artist, so I waited WAY too long to file a dispute, let alone properly save and record messages pertaining to this due to being a victim of FA leaks, I delete my PMs regularly, so i'm desperately searching for proof i DID get to add to this post.

So, this is just a little beware to avoid this artist.

From now on, take anything commission-related straight to emails. Furaffinity is both too cluttered note-wise and too unreliable/unstable to rely on for things you pay money for. With email, you can slap on labels and keep everything easy to find just for stuff like this.

She is very immature. Some time ago I paid her $40 for a set of couples badges... It took me over a year to get them, and I only got one badge at that point and had given up. I would have posted her to here, but I've lost access to the email account the emails were on so I saw it as pointless.

At first, I said I wanted them in a week, but she's not even read my note yet, so I said screw it and told I flat out want my money back, and she doesn't deserve a week long extension when I wanted five months. It's rude, but at this point i've lost all patience with her. It's just $6, so she should have no problems.

I've known her for a tad bit and I've seen how she is with commissions. She takes on so much then doesn't hardly deliver. I think maybe she gets bored with it and she takes on more then completes the ones she newly gotten then works on personal pieces. DIGITAL personal pieces. I'm not sure if she DOES have a computer or not, but a digital pieces is a digital pieces and it's not hard to work on a few commission than gift pieces and new commissions when there is a crap ton of others to be done.

Hm. She is a girl that lives in my area and that I've seen around a lot. If I'm correct, she's one of my friend's best friends. Aaand if she's the girl I'm thinking of in particular (there are too many So Cal furs) then I'm surprised at her behavior.

You and everyone makes this sound much bigger than it realy is. She is taking on commissions but she is not swamped as your making it sound. She is in school, taking care of animals and even trying to get a job.

Alot of her drawings and works have been on a computer that broke. There are some things she must make again.

The drawings she does with me (her boyfriend) are not very time consuming and drawn in front of me on paper while we are together during the short time we have to spend together on weekends.

And also during the time of when you had made the commission, she was trying to sneak in commission hiding them from her ex-boyfriend as she was not allowed to draw because he said so.

This is all changing. I am encouraging her to draw, and encouraging her to draw as often as she can. This part is really none of your business tough. But I am writing this to also talk to everyone reading your journal....

People, you are making her to be a thief. We all have something call 'a life' and there are things that do occur that turn into situations that are beyond our control. Everybody goes through this. And right now with me, she is drawing alot more, being more productive, and more creative than ever before. Just look at her art. If you are paying attention, she is drawing things in all themes now because I am encouraging her to do so. If anything you should be thanking me for her to get back into her grove.

She is becoming very happy and very productive.

Please do not attempt to destoy that spirit.

And like I said... you are getting you money back. Tere is no worry for that.

Or she is acting like one? I understand that she is your girlfriend, but not updating customers, keeping their money and not delivering products are all signs of a scammer rather than a reputable artist. And the amount of time taken to make icons of all things? Ridiculous.

Her problems are no one's problem but her's. Guilt tripping a customer (she had a mean ex, her computer broke, she's in school, she has a pet) makes both of you look bad. Maybe if she had too much of a workload or relationship problems she shouldn't have taken on a job that requires deadlines. But that's not the OP's problem in the slightest.

To put this all in perspective, if she worked at any other job such as retail or fast food and her boss found out that she was taking orders but pocketing the cash and never following through to get the product to the customer would she be fired? Or would they accept a sob story about having to take care of her pets from her boyfriend and let it slide?

Sorry girl but in the long run (and the real world) NO EXCUSE will fly by any employer unless it's a real emergency. And even then, you have to INFORM THEM of what the fuck is going on.

Shit happens and that sucks. It does; I've been in abusive relationships, I've had my computer crash, I've had troubles finding jobs too. I'm sorry that happened to you.

But that's no reason to scam your commissioners and treat them like they're idiots when they come to you with questions. As an artist (and someone who takes commissions which means COUGHTRANSACTIONSCOUGH) you have to keep your commissioners updated about what's going on.

There are no excuses in life, only choices. This job hunt you are apparently going on? If ANY employer read this journal or knew how you acted you would NEVER get hired for a job. Ever. Be it a career or minimum-wage dead-end job.

Yes, you corrected it, i'll edit that in the journal, but rather then relying on your outdated FA journals, ask people for their e-mails and check your records (and get your OWN paypal) before assuming they didn't pay you, it'll do you a lot better.

Your note was VERY rude. Telling me more people have been patient? Good for them, my patience has worn out with you, and that's my right. Trying to tell me because others waited and trying to make me feel bad for posting this? Nuh uh.
Your journal saying 'what went wrong' is nothing but excuses. NONE of that is -MY- fault, NOR my problem. You're also making this ONE little entry about you seem like the end of the world (Protip: It's not) If people don't commission you as a result of seeing this, it's no one's fault but your own, not mine. When it comes to these posts, nine times out of ten, the only reason I ever end up remembering the name of the person the beware is about is because they come in and cop an attitude. The 'I have a life excuse' is one of the clearest signs of the weird entitled attitude some people have when they take commissions; that because they're working for furries and drawing silly animals, it's okay to leave commissioners waiting in the dark for indefinite amounts of time. After all, you know you'll get to it eventually, so they should too even if they don't know you, right?

That's just not how the real world works. Artists need to all understand that commissioners have no way of being in your brain and knowing that you intend to do what you've been paid to do. Most artists are fine, but there ARE artists out there (STARFINDERRrrrr) who will take your money and, five years later, still be feeding you excuses. How are strangers supposed to know if you'll be the same way? It is your job to reassure them otherwise.

Instead, it's always the same song and dance. Person comes into post about them, cops an attitude, throws guilt trips around everywhere, and says everything as passive-aggressively as possible. It is high school level garbage and is definitely not the kind of person I would want to give my money to. And that is what makes me remember them, not the original beware (if there aren't constant posts on them and they're not particularly horrific, of course).

If you can't treat your customers with respect, you aren't mature enough to be taking commissions. The end.

Someone pretended to be me and harass her on her stream and tried to get the icons from her even though I got the refund. (she e-mailed and noted me about it, as well as posted an LJ on her journal about it) I informed her that wasn't me and I was at work, and I just chalked it up to some random lulzfag trying ro start shit in my name for no good reason other then to start drama.

But aside that i've been refunded, and I guess things are resolved on my end.

glad to know i'm not the only one who's had problems with this artist. she's...insufferable, honestly.
she takes in SO many commissions at once, of course she's bound to have problems with money, finishing them and everything else.
all she does is make up excuses, and then has the audacity to blame YOU for not finishing the commission/refunding or what have you.
after 5 months or so, she JUST not finished my commission and it wasn't even what i wanted. i swear i will never commission her ever again, nor will i recommend her to anyone. :U

So here is how I get this.

Aurora, a magnet for drama and causing trouble with people, comes and complains that the icon is taking too long, when artist has RL problems, claiming she was robbed out of $6, but clearly the picture states she was given $10 a a refund.

Now, for one thing the boyfriend isn't helping (derp) and maybe the artist is kinda overreacting. But to be honest, the mob tactics are practically just idiotic right now. Aurora gets her money back, plus $4, and she spits it back in the person's face? AND posts are not allowed to be deleted?

Now, if anyone even uses this as a source of reliability, she's going to lose people over a bit of a misunderstanding.
