Sep. 7th, 2011 01:37 amNot a beware, but definately a question I need answered.
I sold a fursuit head on ebay(It was a ladder auction, the gentleman in question won a tail and handpaws to go with it- but it was stated in the auction that measurements would be needed for both the head and any additional pieces in order to complete the order), and while the buyer was prompt with payment, I only got a single response in late May(Along the lines of, "Sending payment via paypal, will send measurements later"). Now, I have the mailing address attached to his paypal, so I'm thinking I'll just generically size this stuff and mail it off to him? He paid for it, after all.
But on the flip side, he did win an auction that said I'd custom fit the stuff for him. So should I keep holding onto it and hope for a response?
If so, how long would be fair before the statute of limitations on the buy evaporated?
I'd try to find him, but all I have is personal information, email, address- no furry name or livejournal or FA or anything.

Date: 2011-09-12 02:18 am (UTC)That makes sure you aren't sending head off to only be returned unclaimed if he's moved, but also gives him a chance to respond back if he's just out of contact for some reason.
I'd suggest handaddressing the envelope and writing on the back 'regarding your fursuit' on back on envelope. (toss on a a little doodle as well, if you feel like) This makes it more likely if he IS still at address he'll actually open it rather than thinking its junk mail. or if he has someone else picking up his mail while he's somewhere else (and thus out of contact) they'll think it's clearly a note from a friend and actually forward it, or get him on phone and ask if they want them to open and read it.

Date: 2011-09-12 10:02 am (UTC)Holding the item for 6 months is reasonable before writing off the deal. I think if you can't get any response by the 6 month mark and you've done the snail mail then you've done everything possible to contact them and would be acceptable to then refund and relist.

Date: 2011-09-13 06:11 pm (UTC)I'd send him a letter via snail mail with his pay-pall address first. If you don't get a response to that refund and re-auction.
