Wow the Jace saga continues....though this time I think he did soemthing....by completely stepping on my toes..........
When we first did this agreement I told him no gore/vore/bathroom stuff cause all that grosses me out.......
Me being desperate said he could make anything he wanted character wise and doing whatever as long as it ddin't include those three....now I know vore is one of his favorites but I said "NO".
So I get an email today telling me that he's about to ink the sketches which he has yet to show me and he tells me about the vore too.......
Do I really deserve this?
Seriously I need soemone who's going to FC to smack him upside the head for me...... any volinteers?

He probably thought you said no gore, core, or bathroom stuff.

I'll be at FC, and since I rather dislike vore (though I tolerate it only because some of my friends like it for whatever reason), I could bitch out Jace for you, I guess. I, too, have had my share of commissioned ideas ruined because they did something I totally told them not to do, or completely ignored the descriptions I gave them in the first place!

Oh, the magic of spelling could have helped here...

Wow, I don't know what would frustrate me more. His spelling, or the fact that he just won't get it. And he claims not to have time to do it this way when if he just did it right the first time, he'd be long done by now! :/

I do wish you luck on finally getting the completed product. The roller coaster he's been throwing you on is really unnecessary.

"I dotn have the tiem to do it that way."

But he sure had plenty of time to be lazy and show you nothing, and he charged you THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. He seems like an ass. :/

What do you hope to achieve by having someone else start a scene at a con?

So... he spent your $300 without even having a sketch for you. That's pretty awful!

Wait, wait...lemme get something straight... And please don't flame me, I'm just being a messenger of reason...

Gore, vore, and bathroom stuff are all the things Jace likes to do. It's what he does best, because he likes it. Why in the heck would you ask him to do otherwise? And then be surprised that he's been avoiding you and the job?

Forget about getting a commission. Just work on getting your money back. Serisouly.

This guy seems like a dick. Sorry to say. I don't care how talented he may be (I've never seen his stuff), the way he writes is enough to make me shoot myself in the foot. I would never be able to handle doing business with him.

Sorry to say, but this appears to be a poorly planned commission. I can only hope you come out of this retarded mess a lot smarter when it comes to commissioning people. Especially for that much money. And for as long as you've been waiting... that's just sick. This almost smells like a dirty con.

Let the community know if you ever actually get the art, and please post it here under a cut for scrutiny. :D Haha...

... Can you please link some of this guys finished work? I'm having a hard time believing anything that he craps out onto paper would ever be worth $300. Especially when you've been waiting for a year and all you get is a lousy incredibly rough sketch (finally).

Meh, deleted my post by mistake.

This is typical Jace. This really is typical Jace and i'm sad to say your not the only one. Best thing you can do is seriously take him to court over it and not just blow hot air. Have -all- of the paperwork related to it and if you need to, talk to some local lawyers. But no, starting shit at FC is -not- the way to go and damn well not by proxy.

$300 seems a bit much. I mean, if you really feel the art is worth that ammount...but I've seen his work, and it's fine and all, but not worth $300. That's around what Ursula Vernon charges for her original paintings, and she's one of the most talented/professional artists in the online furry art community. If this is just a little character piece like most of the stuff in his gallery, then it seems -way- overpriced.

Also...drawing something you specifically told him not to? That's just bad form. If he felt he just couldn't help himself and would -have- to draw vore, then he should have said he couldn't do the commission. That's extremely unprofessional. If I for any reason feel incapable of completing a commission to the commissioner's expectations, I tell them that. I don't take their money and run with it, and then give them something they specifically asked me NOT to do.

It sounds like this guy has no regard for the commissioner, and is only interested in getting lots of money to do what he wants to do. I'd try and get your money back and be careful to avoid people (and prices!) like that in the future.

Some artists really prefer to take money upfront because they're wary of commissioners not paying once they've put all that time and effort into the piece. I always request payment before I start the commission. But if you're going to commission an artist who wants payment up front, first do a little research and make sure they have a good track record for getting things done.
