So I was hoping I wouldn't have to post in here...but I have to get some ideas or some suggestions.
So I commissioned someone for a fursuit head foam base back in...June and I still haven't gotten it. They have told me many times its done-and then have told me it isn't done. I understand having problems and stuff around home but its been 4 months...
So if you guys have any suggestions on what to do it would be a great help.

EDIT: 9/22/11: Got the pictures and she sent it out and gave me the tracking number. I should be getting it in 2-3 days =] so Everything is cleared up now and I am a happy person!

I'd send them a stern message explaining if they need more time to work on the base to be honest.
Also setting up a mandatory completion date with them would be good. That was if it's not done by then you can discuss wanting a refund.

Technically, it's only been 3 months(since it's mid-September now)... but personally, I'd just send them a message to send it to you by a certain date or else you'd send them to court, provided you have all the necessary proofs of the transaction and all interaction and communications in regards to this sale/purchase/order/whatever people call it nowadays.)

Some people will get all freaked out and do as you say if you pull the court card... (I can't remember what you call it. Just got home from an exhausting double shift.) Just make sure you sound serious about it. My mom had a hard time writing a letter to people with bad checks when she used to own a nail salon. (I looked over her letters to see what was wrong and noticed it sounded too sympathetic rather than stern, quick, and to the point.)

"Send them to court."

I see this often and it's a poor choice of ideas to use. Court threats are rarely taken seriously and usually have their bluff called. Simply "taking someone to court" is not easy, it's a waste of time and money unless you're out a couple grand.

But I just had to mention that the "court card" is a bad idea, and generally kind of the last thing you want to throw around during the commission process.

Completely agree with this comment. While a viable avenue down the road, seeking legal recourse is supposed to be a final motion, not one used so early on. Using it too early can actually backfire on you.

Simply tell the artist that you're no longer interested in their business since they've lied to you multiple times and you never received the product. Ask for a refund, and be polite about it at first. If they get snippy, come back here and I'm sure we'd help you out with what to do next.

I would post this persons name, honestly. This is quite a valid beware if they've lied to you like you say.

Her getting mad should be the least of your worries. She has no reason to be angry with you considering how she treats her customers. She's free to come and defend herself here, and it would be nice of you to let her know you've posted her here - provided that it doesn't start a bunch of drama.

Well, personally, yes. I would tell her. I would explain simply that I felt as though she was never going to finish her end of the commission, and that until she sends you the item, this will not be marked as resolved.

If she's been posted here before, then she'll know the drill.

By the looks of past entries on her (http://artists-beware.livejournal.com/tag/artist-isabellaprice%2Fcostumes-by-belle) a couple have been resolved so hopefully things will get sorted out for you :)

I had an issue with her awhile back, not quite like this though.

She had missed my deadline and I asked her for a refund do to the missed deadline and she apologized explaining she had gotten my date mixed with someone elses and promptly refunded me.

I think she simply gets a little too much at once and get's dates mixed up.

Just ask her politely for either the product by a SOLID date or for a refund.

Looks like this person didn't learn their lesson about not lying to customers. I thought that was the one thing they seemed to grasp from that last beware.

I hope she responds to your email and you can get this resolved!

Edit: there is a big difference between "did" and "didn't", sorry about that.

I'd give another few days and if you haven't received any pictures I would come back and post an actual beware on her. Sorry things don't seem to be working out.
