looks like a scam.. or they're looking for an agent (someone to set up gallery shows, interviews with publishing places, get commissions, etc. agents take a cut of the selling price as payment, at least that's what I've always figured.)

this: BIGLOBE INCORPORATION HONESTLY ASSURE YOU THAT THIS IS 100% RISK FREE AND THERE SHALL NOT BE ANY FINANCIAL OBLIGATION ON YOUR PART.

screams mass mailed scam though.

I would certainly stay away from it. Why would someone you've never heard of want to trust you with valuable art and large sums of cash? Surely they have a better way of finding agents then browsing the web and picking people who they think live in the province they want to do business in.

If for some reason you want to pursue it further, please be careful and do your research on what they are offering. There are as many different email scams as there are creative and evil people to hatch them. They all have in common the fact that at some point, they ask for your personal and financial information...that's when the trap is sprung.

Most likely a scam.

Spam and/or phishing. I'd definitely ignore that.

"It's likely a scam?" Nah... it IS a scam.

The 'representative' is claiming to be from Biglobe Incorporation. However, Biglobe is just a hosting/user-community company (think 'myspace') and 'maida' is just a user using their services. Maida, the scammer, is hoping noone will pick up on this, given that the top-level website is all in Japanese.

Definitely a scam. Never trust emails with crappy grammar and random punctuations, and the guy's name isn't even Japanese! Sounds Korean to me. It's a spam scam, steer clear :P

Yup. Massively scam. If I was a corporation looking for an exports partner, I'd have a HECK of a lot better options than finding one through "microsoft email directory system", a service that for that matter does not even exist.

Sketchball. Ignore it. Real clients will refer to you by name.

That's phishing. If you reply to them, they will tell you more bullshit and eventually ask for your private financial info.

Hey... great idea... see how long you can string them along without giving them anything, and when they do ask... give them the details of your local FBI agent, or something :)

I've done this - except the FBI agent thing - with ebay scammers. It's fun. I even sent one of them 2 cents via western union... it was TOTALLY worth it for the abusive response when he went to all the effort to go to his local office - in Romania or something - to collect his 2 cents :)

Heh.

Theres a site on the web form a guy who has made it his hobby to string along scammers from nigeria and mess with their heads.
He has even managed to reverse the "bank charges to clear large sum of money" scam and get nigerian crooks to send HIM money in hopes of getting large sums from a dopey westerner who doesn't know any better...;)

He gleefully posts the details once he scores said cash, and donates the money to charities.

I don't recall where I got it from, but theres another one where a guy who is a fan of HP Lovecradft has actually used bad lifts from C'thulhu novels to string nigerian scammers along...And got one guy so freaked out he sent what ammounted to an african charm or spell against evil magic to protect himself from a 'curse' he was afraid he had become party to.....

The spoofer used names straight from Lovecraft, such as "Dr. Carter" and "Doctor Herbert West", (The doc from "re-animator"..)

Loads of fun for those slow days at work....;)
