I was wondering what ya'll thought of creating a community call Aritst_reccomend where people could post about good experiences they have had with artists, and reccomend them for future business, sort of a Ying to this comm's yang.
Do you think a community like this would be useful?
And in other news, I am going to be complining the final list to post up for memories sometime this week so if you have any further suggestions about what is good practice for taking or making commisions, please post it here so it can be included, Ch'marr, the head mod of VCL has asked to use the list for VCL, so I want to make it very good, and I would espeically apperciate all of ya'lls input.
Thank you in advance,
Anjel

Date: 2006-01-22 12:37 am (UTC)As for the Guide you’re creating, might it be possible to see a draft posted so that people can add anything that might have been omitted?

Date: 2006-01-22 12:50 am (UTC)isn't that what good feedback on Furbid is for?
don't get me wrong, I like the idea of recognizing good buyers and sellers, but I think that the good heavily outweighs the bad as far as furry commissions go.
plus, I see the potential for favoritism (conscious or not) where people start tending towards only those who have been written about positively, leaving this big gap for people who may be good at making transactions but don't have anything exceptionally noteworthy about the way they do it, and that sort of thing... so either you'd get a post every now and then saying "artist X is teh awesome cause we're almost like friends now!!" or a million posts saying "artist Y doesn't suck!"
...maybe I don't know where I'm going with this, but I just don't see an overwhelming need or draw for such a community.

Date: 2006-01-22 01:07 am (UTC)The bigger concern would be people getting their buddies to post false recommendations. But then you could equally get people slandering good artists on this community out of spite/jealousy/ or some unrelated grudge.

Date: 2006-01-22 02:01 am (UTC)Though, that being said.. I have had made friends with a fair few of my commissioners and buyers :/ And I am sure that is likely to be the case with other artists too, so It may be unavoidable :P

Date: 2006-01-22 06:32 am (UTC)I actually got the idea because I wanted to recommend my friend Y2hectate, because she did excellent work for me. And I have been getting a lot of great art from other folks and I want to give them a good name.

Date: 2006-01-22 05:14 pm (UTC)I say go ahead and make your community, Anjel. Pimp it around and see what happens. You can always update the rules as you watch the project take shape.
I'm glad you're taking responsibility for writing the list, too, since it's your idea :p
