EXPLAIN (this is LONG): This may be a bit of a strange case. Technically this wasn't an issue of a transaction as much of just a really irritating client that's starting to become bothersome to several people and artists. Thanks to his recent action, it was suggested I post him here.

Basically, I do sketches in nighttime Livestreams. I've done one for him before, no hitches then. Sometime last week I opened another stream and told everyone in a FA journal they could message/Note me for commissions. When I do normal commission, I take the money upfront and try to have it done quickly. I do the same for my sketches, but I try not to take the money until I'm ready to do it in stream, as I want to try to have it done there. Well, MasterLeo was included in the list, but was the last one in line.

While I was working on the other in-queue sketches, he begins to ask repeatedly about getting a picture done. I tell him yes, but he needs to wait. He keeps badgering when I'm nowhere near ready to take his sketch, so some other in my stream, figuring the guy just has a language barrier (he's French, I believe) try to help out. Even after translating our explanation that his turn is coming, he continues to ask about wanting a picture and begins to whine that no one is paying attention to him. In other streams (mine and other artist's) he does similar complaining, acting as though no one is paying attention to him and seemingly ignoring everyone's responses (sorry I don't have screencaps for that). He also would constantly leave the stream, whining that no one paid attention to him, then return, leave again, return, etc.

The night I was first doing sketches that he was involved in, I announced I would be finished after a certain drawing, apologizing and saying I would take more later. Before the picture is finished, MasterLeo announces he has sent me money, though I never once told him to. I explain I don't like doing that in streams until I'm ready and refund him, and he complains and attempts to send it again, which I refund again, telling him he can wait til next stream.

Well, he eventually starts acting strange on FA. He watches, unwatches, and rewatches me in a matter of minutes, sends several messages either still begging or apologizing for earlier actions, but continues to act in this manner. Well, after numerous occasions of this and him acting bizarrely in streams, he comes into my stream again tonight and sets the final straw. He does his usual badgering to which I try to remain calm and explain, once again, that asking the same question a dozen times after about five people have answered you is not really a good way to get what you want. He then makes a post in French that apparently translates to something along the lines of "bye bye asshole" or such, and I decide to ban him from my stream for now.

Long story short, when an actual transaction is made, he seems fine, but getting there is outrageous. He is incredibly impatient, childish, and seems to demand attention, but then acts as though no one is giving it to him.

He made a journal or two along the lines of "oooh, I've done a bad thing" and gets back-pats from unknowing FA users, before turning around and acting no different.

I can direct some others here that have had him act similarly in their streams and people that can vouch if need be.


Again, since this wasn't as much an issue over transaction as it was a client's general attitude, I hope this is okay here.

I'm actually really glad you posted it. I've been having slight troubles with him as well but nothing horrible just yet. It took him two tries to commission me because it just seemed as though he didn't understand the process. The commission went well but after he badgered me on livestream as well, I think about wanting his sketch colored. My friend repeatedly told him to not ask here and phrased it differently each time to no luck.

I have another sketch commission to do for him and I think this may be the last. Not just because of all of this, but I think it can be difficult working with a language barrier so big.

I was there to witness this occurring in SB's stream. I did give the benefit of the doubt because of the language barrier. But I have a sneaking suspicion that he knows better than he lets on.

That event was a reason why I put in my TOS about language barriers.. I just see so many problems occurring when neither party can understand one another properly..

I don't think it's only a language thing at all, since as the OP pointed out, they tried it in his language with no luck.

Considering how he acts, personally, I find he really doesn't know better. It's not as though he's scamming or anything, there's really no reason to act this way on purpose.

Well I mean overall about language wise. If you fail to produce a readable sentence that makes any remote sense in my mind I'm probably not going to do business with them. His interaction in general made it a good idea to follow in my TOS.

I only knew of him from your stream so I don't know how much of him is really understanding. I don't think he's scamming, but with his reaction of the 'journal' I'm sure he knows a little of what he's trying to do.

*shrugs* Maybe, it's quite possible he's doing it on purpose/knows what he's doing, I guess it just seems to real to me.

The other commission went smoothly though, so hopefully this one does too but yes, I'm probably going to have to be more strict with language barriers since it's a lot harder then I originally thought.

I suspect this is more than a language barrier problem in this guy's case, but for furture clients I think google translate does a pretty decent job of allowing you to go back and forth and it's recognition software for languages like Spanish and French is pretty accurate.

If he were attempting to commission me with the nag-badger-pester-whine-cry kind of attitude, I'd refund him the money & tell him to come back when he's over 18 and behaving like a mature, serious adult. :x

Because I draw kids, I actually do get a lot of RP babytalkers, but he acts in a larger degree that makes me unsure if it's only RP.

That's a really good point actually. I know that a lot of furs tend to RP a lot, whether in commissions or just in general (I have a furry friend IRL, and even in texts to me, he RPs.)

Good point, heh. I have a note in my TOS that requests customers always talk to me "out of character." It can get a little awkward when people insist on role playing...

I know this is a very late comment but I'd like to add something.

Everytime I go into a free art stream (yes, I'm a free art wh*re, lol. I enjoy free art like everyone else!) that he is in, instead of waiting patiently like the others to post a ref when asked, even if the person streaming is drawing someone else and says to wait before posting refs, he'll just randomly toss out his ref without waiting to be asked for it. It's kinda rude imo, especially if the person streaming didn't even ask for it yet. This has happened on several occasions actually.

In other words, he usually comes in free art streams, says hi then randomly throws out his ref sheet without a 'please' or 'can you draw me please?'. He just says "You draw My Lion" (copy-pasted!). It seems very selfish and rude. I always wait until asked to post my ref sheet and I always say please and thank you when there is free art involved. :/

Sounds very likely from Masterleo. But being French myself, I assure you that there is no language barrier. He is as understandable in French as he is in English.
