I have received my charms and was not satisfied with them (warped and had paint on them). I asked her for my refund, she offered to re-do the charms. But I have grown tired of her and asked again for my $12 back. She's been ignoring my e-mails.

I know I should be satisfied that I got the charms. I'm not. I asked her before as well to just refund me, she promised she'd do both refund my charms and send them. Jinxsis has put a bad taste in my mouth as a commissionee.

WHO: Jinxsis aka Da Jinxsis

WHERE: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/jinxsis/

WHAT: I ordered 2 custom Tail Wag charms from Jinxsis 9 months ago, she stated in her journal that the charms would be sent out the following week once her chibi que was cleared. About a week or so after she posted a journal how some charms she sent showed up to her customers damaged and explained how the charms were on hold til she found a safer way to send them. The journal she said this in she deleted.

WHEN: March 15th, 2011 09:07 PM

PROOF: Only proof I have are her journal entry and an e-mail between us. I don't have the PayPal statement as it's beyond 3 months old.

Journal: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p18/ShazzaKitty/Jinxsis/jinxsis-1-1.jpg

E-Mail March 20th: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p18/ShazzaKitty/Jinxsis/march20jinxsisemail.jpg

August 17th: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p18/ShazzaKitty/Jinxsis/jinxsis-4.jpg

December 14th:  http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p18/ShazzaKitty/Jinxsis/march20jinxsisemail-3.jpg

EXPLAIN: I sent jinxsis a note via FurAffinity on August 17th asking about the charms, in return she posted a fury journal demanding all notes be sent to her via e-mail. I contacted her through e-mail (which sadly I cannot find) and she said she'd send the charms. After not seeing them I sent her another e-mail requiring them on October 22nd, and same thing she said to give her my address and she'd send them. Now it's nearly the end of the year and I've yet to see or hear from her. I'm beyond irritated at this point with her and pretty much lying to me that she's going to send them. And to add to this she keeps opening up for MORE charms making me think if she's even working on the ones she currently owes. At this point in time all I really want now is my money back.

Just so you know, you should be able to access Paypal records older than three months. Just enter the date using the little calendar buttons at the top of your "all payments" or "all transactions" page.

Yep, this. Just be aware, if you have been a long term member of PayPal, and have a lot of transactions, accessing -all- of your history can be a little slow.

Not excusing what happened before (the artist seems rather unorganized, or at least isn't the best at keeping customers in the loop), but this journal was posted about a week ago: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2972836/

"
This is my last charm related journal.

I am officially done with everything charm related.

Mass mail out on the 18th.

Follow Up to see if your stuff was mailed: {link added later}"

Seems like she is being contacted by quite a few customers about her charms and is expressing frustration about it though this journal. At least there is a mail out date to hold her to if she doesn't follow through this time since she claims this is "her last journal about charms"

*shrugs* I'm not sure it matters if she's personally frustrated with them, so long as she actually makes everyone square. If the artist is finding them not worth her while and is getting annoyed, then the best thing to do is get it over and done with as quickly as possible. It also gives us a definite deadline for fulfillment of the order (or refund).

I was remarking on the tone of the journal that you posted of hers, not to try to say it matters in regards to the issues at hand. The good thing with her curtness is that she has established a definitive deadline that she can now be held to. I hope she get it in on time and earns the resolved tag to this post.

Jinxsis is very hard to work with, and it's a shame as her art is very cute.
It took over two years for me to get ANY of the art I was waiting for, and she constantly deletes journals so it's hard to keep track of anything.
I had ordered a $15 chibi art pack that was supposed to come with like 10+ drawings, two of her "noseys", an "infected" badge, Halloween costume badges, a Pokemon "nosey" of Vulpix, a "pumpkin pixel" icon, two "fleas" icons and I think that's it.
She gets really ansty or upset about people asking anything, especially for mailing, so I bit my tongue and just kept waiting.
She kept promising me more art to make up for the wait, and for my patience.
I would see little bits and pieces of my order here and there.
Finally two years later I got a small package, containing a couple chibis, the badges at least, and three things to "make up" for the wait (However two of those were said charms which arrived shattered to bits). There was so many more things missing tho. I never got what the package had promised, I'm still missing a nosey of one char & the Pokemon. The icons were their own mess.
I just cut my losses and consider myself glad I got at least what I got.
Its not worth it to me to complain to her since I'm sure I'd just get a lot more excuses :c

Were the charms suppose to be shrinky dinks? I had a stint of making those and I found you have to wrap them in bubble tape when sending them and not try to save money sending them in regular paper envelopes.
Also didn't she advertise for some commissions on Teeny Com? I would like to know so if she does again I can be wary of getting a commission from her and not be misled by the very cute art.

From: [identity profile] oceandezignz.livejournal.com
I do believe there was a time someone WAS advertising for a type of badge on TeenyCom where the tail would be 'dangling' from the main body. Could be her. If her FA name is the same as her LJ I could look.

From: [identity profile] anjel-kitty.livejournal.com
Yeah if you could cross ref that for me so it can be accessible to others.

Yes, they were indeed made of Shrinky Dinks. I've never gotten anything made of that stuff in one piece, and often advise against folks to sell it myself. If the item isn't outright shattered, usually the hole where they put the jump ring in is broken off at the least.
I'm not sure if I've seen her stuff recently on Teeny Com or not

Well the dimensions of the charm also matter when it comes to the risk of shattering. The smaller the dimensions, the more density to the cross linking polymers that shrink in the oven. Longer skinny shapes tend to be more fragile. Also coating with with a type of glossy finish helps keep the integrity. The things I made were usually no bigger than about 7- 8 cm in diameter and there were less apt to break, but even those I had to make sure to always send in plastic wrap when I made them.

This. I used it for a few years for charms and what not, and it would shatter, not take a seal correctly, wipe off, and all manner of things. It's a shoddy craft to use for sale when there's professional acrylic charm makers out there for the same price!

Would you be able to recommend any?

So far I've really adored Printsess, it's sad they dont do 50 charm orders anymore, but the 100 orders are pretty grand since you can do 5 designs. I was incredibly wary of them as Paper Forrest, but they've done well in fixing their issues in the name change.

I would also recommend looking at pin.biz. I have used them and they have been so so so awesome and reliable and has a few more options than Printsess (who I used to use)

HUH. That is so weird, I order acrylic charms from them all the time, but you're right, I can't find their info on it now. I must investigate when I get off work, because if they don't do them anymore I'm going to be a very sad panda indeed.

Can you post a link to the professional acrylic charm makers you're referring to? I'm interested to see what other charm making options are out there. I have tons of shrinky dink stuff that I still need to use, but plan on just using for trades ( I don't take commissions anyway), but I'd be interested to see what better options there are.

Neolucky's already mentioned Printsess (http://printsess.com) (formerly Paper Forest) and Haruko-san mentioned Zap Creatives (http://www.zapcreatives.co.uk).

I think Shrinky dinks sort of commissions would be really cool to do at Cons, or like, with Local meetups and such where you don't need to mail it.

From: [identity profile] coyote-feathers.livejournal.com
This is pretty much how I handle them now. I had a lot of problems with shrinkydinks breaking during mailing, although I tended to make them quite big. The only way I'll ever ship them is individually wrapped and then shipped in a padded envelope. Lately I've been leaning more to making pre-made charms and selling then at cons. Less of a headache.

Yea, they seem to be pretty damn fragile. I used them like.. once as a kid, but never after that.

Guh, I feel terrible that some of the stuff you got from me arrived broken. :( That's one of the reasons I've been shying away from doing them mail-order anymore! They just don't trtavel very well, not when you make them odd shapes or kinda big.

Date: 2011-12-15 06:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pretty-omi.livejournal.com
Yeah when you swapped to the printables tho, they made it. I've just been wary about using them ^^;;

Altho supposedly, the printable kind, as opposed to the stuff you hand color, is more durable.

Wanted to add, that her attitude reminded me a lot of working with Zer/Seux. The less you complain, and do nothing, the more likely you are to eventually actually get your stuff...

Yup, it was like pulling teeth to get her to ship the Noseys and other things my SO and I got from her. We never even got all the art in the mail, to my recollection. =C A shame as her stuff is indeed cute.

yeah, she takes a LONG time to get things done 8/ it took her MONTHS to do a trade that i completed in just a week or two. This was with slight prodding and a lot of "I'll get it done" "I'm almost done" etc.

best of luck 8/

I also commissioned Jinxsis for a charm back in August:
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/6342995/
And it's 4 months later and I still haven't gotten mine either when it's clearly done and paid for.

I also commissioned her to do one for my boyfriend, but I haven't paid her yet for his, since she never told me where to send payment. >.< I dunno if his is done, I've seen no pictures of it at all.

She also told me she was mailing out mine soon and I've never gotten it. I noted her one night on FA simply asking about if she's sent it or not, and immediately after I noted her she made an angry journal saying NO MORE NOTES so I dunno if that was targetted towards me or not.

I sent her an e-mail last night to poke her about the status of my charms and if she's sent them yet, I was very polite in my e-mail though, I hope she doesn't think I'm bothering her or something. Haven't gotten a response.

She did a freebie Pokemon Kigu badge for me, a badge of another character (that i commissioned) and I bought a derp of a German Shepherd for my ex while he was stationed overseas as a present. Don't think I'mma be seeing any of it D:

Haven't seen any of it haha. I still watch her and enjoy her art, and she's a nice gal, just not someone to business with unfortunately, as I've learned

She FINALLY posted an image of my now-ex boyfriend's charm but I still haven't received mine in the mail. I thought she said she was mailing things out on the 18th? o.O If she had indeed mailed them out then my apologies, but I am confused since I never gave her my ex-bf's address. I can't remember if I gave her mine either to be honest.

I've had this exact same problem. I ordered two of her "Hang On!" charms in July or August, and gave her $15 for them. She uploaded ONE picture of them (Which she's deleted now..?) and showed me they were done, but my charm for Porter (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5903711/) was gray where it was supposed to be purple. When I asked about it, she said "Oh. It looked gray to me." O_o? No, I'm pretty sure that's a blatant purple.

That being said, she told me that once she baked them, the "gray would turn purple". Uh.. So is it magic paint then?

I sent her a couple of notes and comments asking when she was planning on sending them out, as the one I got for my husband was supposed to be a gift for him. Got no response. Finally, she posted the rage journal telling people to EMAIL their addresses. So I did. Never got a response.

I sent her a note TODAY (04 Jan 2012) asking if she ever sent them out, and she said that she SENT THEM OUT ON THE 20TH OF DECEMBER. The hell? I ordered these suckers in JULY. I told her that if I don't receive the charms within a week, I want my money back. And, seems the trend is that the charms are arriving shattered. If I receive shattered charms, I want my money back. Period.

This is NOT professional. At all.
